Not a lot of pleasure with this bottle which was either off or had passed its pick. Nice nose, ripe, mainly on orchard fruits. The palate disappoints, heavy and quite flat. Not what I expect from a Muscadet. Consistent with my previous tasting note, I’m not optimistic for my last bottle.

Ripe and giving with a youthful nerve. Extraordinary minerality. Quince. Very wide and spacious. Dreamy and ample acidity without anything offending, still delivering superb freshness. Magic

I stumbled upon this in the cellar; it wasn't in the inventory. It sat too long, I think. There were some fruit left, but more minerals than fruit, and there was oxidation as well. Drinkable and different, but those who don't like oxidation wouldn't be as happy. No rating. Drink up.

1 uke i flaske: fortsatt fin, svakt oksidert.

87 pts

Advanced deep gold colour. Nose and palate are fresh though, with vibrant lemon acidity and a complex pith/saline pebble minerality coursing through the midpalate, all enveloped in a lovely creamy texture that staves off any impressions of leanness or austerity. At 12 years old, pretty amazing. And it cost all of $19.

91 pts

Light yellow color. Marzipan and minerals in the bouquet. On the palate juicy, ripe and rich with some development. Firm acidity, but one way or another not extremely fresh, probably because of its age. Tasted fully blind I scored the wine 86, which is for me a very good wine. Seeing it is an aged Muscadet this is in fact almost stunning. So I understand the enthusiasm about this wine, but I keep my score at 86.

Clear pale lemon with a lemon edge - maturity showing. Clean nose of fresh air (really!), citrus, mineral, and then an almond (aged) note creeps in - complex and still very young - medium intensity nose. Dry with the almond and mineral showing on the palate with medium intensity. Medium plus acid, medium body (starts out as medium minus but then blossoms to medium), medium alcohol. Well balanced and delightful. Still able to go another 3-5 years easily. The finish is medium with the almond notes continuing.

Continues to develop well. A neutral white in many respects but the mineral cut through the wine is really impressive. Like riesling loaded up with stones without the overt citrus flavours. A wine that deserves more cellaring time but great drinking now.

i was so disappointed when i opened this bottle at 5 in the afternoon. it was like licking a granite wall, no fruit, only minerals of the most intense nature. and a thin texture. left it alone and came back to it a little after 8pm and it was really singing. fragrant with a lemon chiffon richness, a bit floral, and briny. the palate was fleshier with ripe yellow fruit and intense minerality, with good acidity and balance. this is an intense wine whose food pairing possibilities extend way beyond oyters. i've been so happy with the 05 muscadets so far, and this might very well be my overall favorite. so sad that i have none left.

Pale lime; initially light grassy/lime on the nose, opening out a little more with green apple; such refreshing acidity on the palate with hints of caramel/biscuit on the finish.

Striking. Sweet mineral and talcum powder on the nose and palate. Really quite excellent. Fruit profile has a dirty hint but certainly adds to the wine. Firmer stonefruit-like characters are awesome. Good presence and length.

Very pale gold appearance. Gentle notes of lemon, beeswax, mineral, maybe powdered ginger on the nose, very clean. More lemon and nice stony minerality on the palate, i'd be thinking AC Chablis, Macon, something like that except that this is surprisingly soft and lacking cut or verve. Not sure what to make of the low acidity, maybe a warm vintage Macon or St Veran? In retrospect this bottle really seemed atypically soft and low in acidity for Muscadet. A couple of tasters cried TCA but Muscadet minerality can often have a somewhat musty quality to it. Tasted blind.
Update: retasted on day two, i believe this wine is definitely very lightly corked.
