Trinkfenster startet ganz langsam. Unbedingt vorher dekantieren.

Purple brown hue, light fruity aroma. First brunello taste is flowery dark red fruits, dry cherries, currants, hint of prunes and dates. Finish is dry but a bit quick, surprising for a great wine from a great year. Hints of earth and oak and a long linger. Was hoping for more at year 8, but still a great wine.

Nose is richly spiced with a core of sweet red cherry, tobacco, a hint of terracotta and tomato leaf add a balancing earthiness. On the palate there is excellent purity here with sharply delineated red cherry, some cough linctus and a touch of balsamic. Tannins are present but not in anyway jarring and with food this is good to go. This has a nice balance of easy charm and elegance with good precision. 14.5% alcohol is not jarring in any way. Lovely stuff and lots of upside.

Beautiful brunello. I opened in the morning and slow ox’d for five hours then decanted for an hour. It definitely needed the air. Really complex red fruits, with vanilla spice and oak. Some earth as well. Beautiful acidity, tannins still present but with food they’re fine. Lovely bottle

09032023 - celebrating Ed’s Bday at HB. Incidentally Ed brought a 2013 vintage & I insisted the next bottle TB to be mine. Classic BDM from Casanova with all the on the dot nose & senses. Felt this has more of a savory & earthy notes compared to 2013. Hence, felt it is more balanced & rounded with fleshy & chewy layers of tannins. Only have 2 left. Will revisit in 2030 hopefully!

It sure how in the world this wine is getting scores I t he mid 90’s. It’s just “meh”… there’s oak, but it’s weak. Too much fruit. Really round on the pallet. Not my style… one left, I’ll wait at least 5 years before I touch it.
This is a wine with lots of latent potential opening with an attractive yet quite reticent nose needing a double decant and 4 hours open in the bottle to reveal red berry fruits with touches of autumn flowers, thyme and balsamic characters. On the palate the wine is full with a spherical entry of red fruits, autumn herbs and florals and that lovely Sangiovese tang of balsamic, black tea and very dark chocolate. There is a touch of gloss and silk about the overall that makes this instantly appealing despite the sense of a wine in very primary phase.

2015 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova. Dark garnet, viscous (14.5 alc.); red and black fruit, ripe grapes, oak, some earthiness; mid acids; medium-full tannins; deep fruit; opens with air; long rich earthy, red fruit and wood finish. 18 UC Davis scale, 94 other scales. Needs time.

Bottle 1/6. 3 hour decant. Exploding aromas of plums, dark cherry, tomato leaf, Christmas cake spices, walnut nutmeg and unsmoked tobacco. The palate is rich, flamboyant with wonderful purity of dark red berries, blackcurrants, red currents, crushed florals, black peppercorn and tannins that just melt away. The mid-palate is spicy, succulent and juicy with a typical raisin character which finishes long velvety and dry. 95+ Wife did not enjoy this as much as me, preferred the standard Brunello.

Had this to celebrate moving into a new apartment. Decanted this for 2-3 hours before tasting. The aromas were unbelievable right after opening and continued to be strong throughout the night. Intense aromas of dark red and purple berries, menthol, tobacco, and forest floor. The palate was very smooth and silk-like for the first hour. Filled with hints of crushed flowers, dark berries, menthol, and a pleasant lingering taste of tar. The length of this wine went on and on, and the acidity was as refined as you could ask for. After about an hour, this began to shut down. I have a couple more bottles I'll try to hold off on for another 5-10 years. This is a top Brunello that should age well for decades to come.

Two hour decant. Started off extremely tight and opened. bit over the evening. I feel like this is either holding back, and needs 3 to 5 more years or is a bad bottle. Deep, dark reddish garnet in color; almost opaque. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe dark fruit aromas of cherries, blackberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, minty, tobacco, minerals, cocoa, sandalwood, spices with oak & vanilla in the background. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of smooth textured & well balanced, ripe dark fruit flavors of cherries, blackberries & plums with herbs, dark cocoa, minerals, spices, oak & vanilla. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extending airing. It will develop further with additional aging at which time it should merit a higher score (95+). A more modern style of Brunello with the dark cocoa, oak & vanilla notes.

Youthful inviting and invoking nose with sweet, chalky cherries, fragrant floral notes, and spice and minerals. Great palate with mineral-laced texture, some bright young fruit, and a long long finish. Early drinking window for me with a proper decant but built for age. Glad this was 1st of a 12 pack. Delicious

Dark Cherry red. Nose slightly dumb at this stage, but some dark chocolate covered cherries, plum stones and incense coming through. Palate is still compact with tannins prevalent and fruit somewhat closed. However, smoky, dark, intense forest fruits in evidence and superb acid/fruit tension and balance. It’s all there, but needs a good few years yet to blossom. Looking forward to revisiting and seeing how it will develop. Note, the alcohol is coming through a bit at the moment with a slight cough drop, medicinal note.

(2021/2025-2035)
Still young. Dense, darker than regular Brunellos, may need more age. Maybe should've decanted longer. But nose, mouth and finish strong and already interesting. Compared to regular Casanova Brunello of same year, everything is a little intensified, from nose to finish.

This is very good. But now does not seem to be the time to drink it. Compared to a few bottles I tried about a year ago, this is much more subdued. It May be entering a bit of a dull phase…Lacking the vibrancy of youth, but not yet developing the secondary flavors that come with age. Feels relatable as someone in my late 30s. I probably won’t open another one of these until 2025 or 2028.

Deep dark red-tinted color, semi opaque. Fresh and youthful but not completely clear.
Aromatics demonstrate red fruited profile, smoked woods, spices, and medicinal herbs.
Palate is elegant yet structured. Quite a lot of tannin as to be expected of a Brunello of this caliber at this stage of development. Med plus acidity, dry, and med body. Fresh but good fruits. Lots of stuffing but currently quite reserved. Difficult to analyze at this stage but you can taste the potential. Complex mingling of Italian herbs, Asian spices, minerals. Finish is slightly bitterly refreshing.
I like this wine but it is clearly way too young to pop open. Potentials are as I said quite apparent. However, please put it away for at least 10 years unless you are embarking upon an academic exercise. 93+

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this one, especially at this age. Very youthful but still nice to drink even at this stage as it’s not at all too heavy despite a structure built for the long haul. Better with air, as you might expect.

Decanted for 2 hours; did not open fully; mid palate needed more time; very tasty but is not at its best yet. Will decant more the next bottle I open. Lots of potential.
Decanted for four hours. Within the same illustrious vein as the mythic ‘06, this over delivers with an enamored middle palate and a finish that does not quit. There are tannins of microfiber, that remain well strewn; and a full body. Elderberry, granite, dried rose petals, balsam, dried basil and lamb shank. There’s purity, form and a touch of decadence. So enjoyable today, this will slumber very well. There’s depth and acid. Drink 2022 - 2042.

Good wine, 92-93 points, but the trend of too much alcohol in wines like this 14.5% is not helpful, just go back to 12.5% ish. Overall a drinkable, juicy, wine though, better with food

Ugh...my impatience got the best of me. This should be left to do its “thang” for...tanto tempo. Alas, its kryptonite tendered my willpower completely useless. Yes, still young but already exhibiting such multi-dimensionally. Tannins remain pronounced yet don’t overwhelm...nose of dark red roses, candied berries, fresh pipe tobacco, and hi ya of clove and dried sandalwood bark. Incredibly depth and finish. Yes, of course...decant for a few hours and ale this a 3-hour session wine, if not longer. Bravo, Giacomo...complimenti!
This wine has a lot to give in time! The nose has some unique leather and dark fruit but the flavor is all red cherry turning into red plum with some nice bright tannins. The finish has some nice bright tannins that linger nicely. This wine will be exceptional with a few more years in the cellar.

Deep ruby colour with ever so slight browning. Viscous legs on the sides of the glass.
Nose is complex - a mélange of fruits including dark cherries and cassis, floral perfume and delicate oak. Wonderfully balanced.
Palate is sublime. Cassis, black cherry and strawberry up front. Medium low acidity. Tannins are delicate but still there giving structure and grip.
This is at the beginning of its drinking window I think. Benefits from decanting a few hours before drinking.
Quality is superb. Looking forward to drinking more of these.

Decanted for about 2 hours, and certainly should have let it go for at least 3. Lots of fruit, too much to be honest. Built to go a long time in my opinion, but way too early to open at the moment.

Good wine, 92-93 points, but the trend of too much alcohol in wines like this 14.5% is not helpful, just go back to 12.5% ish. Overall a drinkable, juicy, wine though, better with food

Lots of fruit and hard edged in a power packed way. Great palate definition.

A stellar BdM. Bright red. Med. body. Great fruit especially tart cherries. Silky finish.

This wine has a lot to give in time! The nose has some unique leather and dark fruit but the flavor is all red cherry turning into red plum with some nice bright tannins. The finish has some nice bright tannins that linger nicely. This wine will be exceptional with a few more years in the cellar.
