A bit sharp, tons of energy. Appley Pearish fruits, loads of tartness, and minerality. A bit sharp in the texture component given the acidity and extract it does come across as a touch shrill on its own, but good with food. I worry a bit with time if this will come increasingly imbalanced but no rush

Very sadly, my final btl. In an amazing place. Still some primary fruit, but stunning nose with loads of nettle, tarragon, preserved lemon, sour apple and papaya. On the palate: fantastic acidity, lovely density, hi-toned lemon, guava, soft peach and golden apple. Wet stone and soft grapefruit on the finish. Wow.

Had a glass with dinner (tuna salad on salad) and it went nicely. Not much evolution since I last tasted this in 2020. But very enjoyable and does it’s job as a food wine.

Pale lemon colour. Medium and developing nose with ripe green apples, ripe lemon, lemon zest, wax, honey, flint and wet stone. Medium taste of ripe green apples, ripe lemon, lemon zest, honey, wax, flint, salty sea and wet stone. Long and dry finish. High acidity. Medium body. A very good Loire Chenin Blanc from a magnum bottle. Drink now or over the next ten years. Goes well with fish or shellfish.

Served blind. Had put this on Chardonnay given the flavor profile, something from Santa Cruz Mountains. Little woodsy aroma, with pear, green tropicals, fennel, lime, vanilla and peach flesh. Enjoyed this.

Medium hay in color, shy on the nose, with just a hint of light fruit and candle wax; palate makes up for it, with some nice intensity, a touch of tartness, and a kiss of salinity, Very enjoyable, if not terribly complex. A nice showing for the entry level wine.

Decanted for half hour. Nose I got green apple, pear, honey and some lime and lime zest. On the palate it has really nice acidity. A really soft velvety feeling coats your whole mouth. A really lovely wine and the bottle didn't make it to the next day. Really glad I have two more left.

on first opening, taught but still lively. lemon and lime juice, cream, and vanilla. oak is used here for texture, but doesn't corss over into oxidation. this is where village level chassagne meets chenin. sure there could be more concentration of flavor, but thats what the rest of the lineup is for. at this entry level, balance and poise is what is most remarkable.

This is just too young. With about 4 hours of air, some honeyed notes emerged, balanced the apple acidity that had been present all along. The following day, there was more complexity -- some menthol, some tropical fruitiness -- but still restrained, and always encased in that acidity. I don't have a clear sense of when to open the next bottle, nor am I altogether confident that the optimal expression will justify the price, but I'm going to try to forget about the rest of this stash for another 5 years at least.

Very unusual nose with lots of lemon qualities, acidity and saline notes which, when combined together, came off in a very unique fashion. Nearly medium bodied with primarily a wide variety of lemon notes both upfront and through the middle. There was bright, high-toned lemon, slightly softer lemon through the middle and acidity accepted almost sharp lemon on the backside. There's good expression through the middle and very good acidity on the backside. Finishes with saline and minerals. Should continue to open up with more time and I'll try my next bottle around June 2021.

Fresh, lively, and delicious. Bright, clear medium lemon color. Mineral and terroir driven on the nose with sea spray, white rock, white blossom, and lemon. Flavors are more fruit driven with tart lemon juice, lemon rind and quince balanced with salty minerality and crunchy white rock. Developing complexity. Medium plus acidity provides a fresh and zippy mouthfeel and supports a long ending. Paired well with an assortment of hard cheeses, salamis and crackers. Excellent!
Bone dry and plenty of acid. Floral nose, palate of lemon, lemon zest and mineral. This was fantastic with Thai food but could go well with pretty much anything. Very nice.

Meyer lemon and lemon peel aromas and flavors with hints of green apple and lemon custard. Nicely rich throughout, but also clearly showing a stern acidity in the middle, with a minerally finish. Very good now, probably better in another year. Great value wine.

Wine in the time of Corona Virus - Quarantining in NYC & NH; 3/7/2020-9/1/2020 (NYC/NH): Another Zoom Happy Hour - popped this open after finishing the last glass of the Monier-Perreol St. Joseph Blanc and it was quite a jarring transition. The acidity here is so bright and tart particularly in contrast to the fatter Northern Rhone. This has all the stuff in the right places though, bright and mineral with juicy tropical fruit. Really zesty on the gums. Enjoyable!

Tasting, brief note. Lemon, lemon peel with some quince. Charming nose, accessible start, more sturdy middle through its crunchy, minerally finish. Upside from here. 89-90 point potential.

(mostly) 2001 Produttori Riserva Horizontal (Osteria Langhe, Chicago IL): Nose: The nose is complex, but a bit coiled up with pears, peaches, red apples, acacia flowers, apple blossoms, vanilla beans, lanolin, and crushed rocks. There is very good depth, but it feels like it is holding back a bit.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with razor-sharp, high acidity. The feel is extremely youthful, yet textured and balanced with pears, peaches, red apples, lanolin, apple blossoms, vanilla beans, and crushed rocks.
Overall: This is extremely young, but with a lot of promise and poise. I would love to try this after it has about 10 years on it as it feels like it will blossom beautifully with age.

Very nice nose with citrus, peach, suggestion of sweet richness, but also some sea air....on the palate, lovely acidity, but quite dense, with peach and citrus, a touch of lanolin, and lovely salinity. Mouthwatering finish, with richness to back it up. This is already excellent.

Un vin assez compact portée par une vive acidité citronnée. L'élevage se fait encore sentir.
