Starts of honeyed... still...no change.. Yeah,. this one off it's game. No oxidized but its sweetness dominated what is very high material underneath. Bummer. (0 views)

Popped and poured. As a few other people have mentioned, this was more advanced than I would have expected. Color was a deep honey which mirrored the aromas and palate. Not oxidized but certainly not fresh. Big disappoint with a wine that I normally adore. 88pts.

concentrated and almost viscous with enuf acidity to make it work; quince, persimmon and a bit of apricot in addition to the usual fare; one of the best American chards that i have tasted. BTW this is still young and has upside. day two--better

Unique, evocative nose. Green apple, lemon, bready in a good way. Palate—amazingly skilled roundness supported by perfect acidity. Beachy without becoming tropical. Appley without becoming fruit juicey. Great body without butter, nutty attributes. Persistent finish. A touch bitter on the back end. Just straight delicious. Had some on day 2 and it the bitter note was gone, otherwise the same. Superior to the 2016 which I had a month ago or so.

Loved this. Perfect bottle. Same notes as soyhead. Everything in great balance and harmony, with minerality, lemon, a deft oak touch that creates a little roundedness that brings everything together. Cohesive. Wish I had more.

Nose - hazelnut, lemon rind Mouth - rich with good acidity. None of the complicating caramel , butterscotch, toast, char or other fuss that plagues so many other domestic Chardonnay. I can see this as being a ringer for a well made Meursault.

On a retail shelf for two years. Decanted. Showing some age, likely due to storage conditions, but it freshened up after one hour in the decanter — lemon, caramel, and good acid to keep it fresh.

Well made, loads of acidic structure, lemon, cream, apple, medium body. This is still unpacking it's bags, and I think a few more years in the bottle should yield a more open and (obviously) evolved, nuanced wine. If you like a tighter, more acid forward wine, then enjoy now. Went great with some brie-like cheese, bread and butter.

honeyed, rich, impressively full flavored, good acidity, long finish. all in all delicious and somewhat reminiscent of a recent bottle of ramonet ruchottes i sampled.

Still, such a baby. Loads of acid and verve- lemon oil, fresh apple, wet stone, and chalk, finishing with some old barrel feel. Wow. I can't wait to see this in 5-10 yrs. Excellent.

Decanted and consumed over 90 minutes. Significant acidity - more so than the previous bottles. Drinkable now, but clearly this needs 5-10 years before it hits its stride. Otherwise, similar notes. 92-94.

Always one of the best Chardonnays made in Oregon, to my palate at least, and this 2017 did not disappoint. It is already quite open-knit and alive and ready. I might call this a 1er Cru white Burgundy if blinded. It has that whole rich-yet-not-OTT thing in spades. Beautiful wine.

Nose: The nose is deep and complex with Honeysuckle, melon, red apples, Bosc pears, white florals, green tea, herbal notes, mint, quince, nougat, vanilla. This took a bit to open up and it really benefitted from being in the decanter for 2+ hours.
Taste: The feel is Medium/full bodied with crisp, medium+ acid. The feel is deep and refined with honeysuckle, red apples, bosc pears, quince, white florals, green tea, mint, nougat, and vanilla.
Overall: This is killer stuff already. It was wound tight at first and it needed over 2 hours in a decanter to really get going. There is a lot to live here as it shows off well balanced fruits with excellent herbal and mint notes. In a perfect world, another 3-5 years would probably benefit it but it is really good right now with air.

Nose of citrus fruit, with a hint of nuts. Lemon, peach, citrus on the palate with nice mineral streak. Bright acidity balances out the weight of the wine. Compared to the white burg, it has a touch more weight/heft, but balanced and enjoyable. One of the best Chardonnays (along side Walter Scott Xnovo) from Oregon.

Decanted and consumed over two hours. Nose was almost non-existent. This improved a bit with air, but it didn't move that much. Flavors of lemon curd, touch of honey, ripe, but a fair amount of acidity to balance it out. Full bodied. Good mouthfeel. Moderate complexity/finish.

Not a cheap bottle but this wine delivers. From memory. Lemon/lime and pear on the palate. Touch of wood/vanilla too. So balanced yet acid driven. Great weight and mouth watering. Had over two days and was fresh on day two (took out air and kept in fridge). Not sure if this improves over time but the drinking window is long and it just started. Delicious. 92-93.

Decanted and consumed over two hours. Air added depth. Light aromas of pear and white flowers. The unimpressive aromas are superceded by moderate+ flavors of lemon curd, lime, an enjoyable acidity with a moderately long finish. Medium+ body. My favorite Clos Electrique blanc across several vintages.

What a beauty. Shows good complex fruit with notes of fresh lemon, some white peach, and hints of green apple. While the fruit is generous, there’s slightly elevated acidity, and well judged oak (doesn’t impart much, if any sweet vanilla character, does provide nice tannin on the back), both giving the wine an attractive tension and complexity. The balance to this is excellent. Up there with the best new world Chards I’ve had. Cool year of 17’ and the careful hands of this legendary Oregonian (John Paul) push this towards an excellent approximation of white Burgundy. This is like a damned good Meursault LD or solid 1er even. Though I do think this is best in the near term, noticeably lost its edge by day two.

While the last 4 or 5 vintages of CEB have always been terrific, they have displayed a bit of youthful chubbiness, playful, even perhaps slightly exotic. The 17 however, is a much more serious specimen. Riding a firm, almost taut wave of citrusy pear that splashes on a firm mineral backbone making this immediately obvious this is a superb rendition of this top shelf OR Chard. Still accessible enough to reward early enjoyment, but be sure to lay down at least a couple for 5 to 8 years, perhaps longer. The 17 Clos Electrique is Electric for sure!
