My favorite everyday drinking Chianti right now - nothing super complex or ambitious, but a super delicious and well made Chianti, medium body, right amount of fruit, just great!

Mid-ruby in colour with restrained aromas of sour cherry and fresh cherry with plum. A soft entry onto the palate with juicy fruits of Morello cherry, tart plum, smoke, roasted herbs and a touch of cola tonic. Full-bodied with fairly broad chalky tannins and fresh acidity but with enough sweet compote fruit to balance them. The fruit-wrapped tannins started to become savoury as the wine opened, and there is a little bit of black olive and balsamic towards the back palate. Quite tight with a baked-to-cooked fruit component reflecting the hot year, fairly long this is a good wine without wowing and finishes a little firmer but a little too sweet fruited.

Medium garnet color, brightly toned, with lighter ruby edges. Aromas of black cherry, smoked pomegranate, red apple skin, black licorice, tea leaf, dried hibiscus and crushed stone. Succulent, taut red cherry and blood orange flavors, along with secondary depth of five spice, fennel and red florals. Medium-bodied, with round broad-grained mid-palate structure, juicy acid and dense fleshy tannin, finishing with zesty high-toned red and black fruit.

Querciabella (Prince Sydney, 40 Hansard Street): On the nose it's quite polished with ripe cherry, a little liquorice, sweet spice, slight white pepper and tobacco leaf notes. Clean. Juicy, fleshy, savoury, cherry, slightly drying persistent tannins travel long and the acid (which tends to Medium plus intensity) lends freshness to the finish. Balanced. Rather nice.

Pleasantly surprised at the tart but juicy finish. Earthy up front. This can go with a myriad of food pairing from salmon to pasta carbonara. Has medium body but has richer mouth feel with that lighter finish of the juice. Glad I have a case of this for sure. Don't see this improving over time it's ready with a 30 to 60 min decant, which is really all wines ready to drink quite honestly.

IWS Tuscany, Campania, Basilicata, Marche, Umbria; 1/29/2022-1/30/2022 (My place, Kent Street): From Coravin. Cedar, cherry, a little chocolate. With agitation wet earth, a little mushroom, bing cherry and Autumn leaves. Medium plus intensity acidity, wetly fleshy and fruit tea tannic grip sucks at the tongue. Medium plus length. The acid is slightly too hight for me but otherwise rather pleasant.

Subtle nose. Nice medium body with adequate acid and an enjoyable medium finish. Fruity, but not overly so. Good match with red sauce over perogies and Italian sausage.

A calm and pure nose of cherries and plant matter. It is savoury in the mouth, with fresh fruit flavours and nice detail. It is underpinned by good structure and the whole package is delicious now and should age well.
Nice nose, some herbal character (fennel) and cherries; nice red fruit core on the palate, good fresh acidity. Classic Chianti, very drinkable, grippy tannins, elegant.

On the nose a strange smell reminiscent of goat that covers the more fruity aromas. This is less prominent on day two and the wine grows with air. Tastewise a very nice chianti with the typical cherry flavours of sangiovese.

Nice for a chianti, but not sure its worth the price I paid. I think I can get as good, or better for less money. Still good structure, taught fruit, slightly grainy tannins and decent acidity.

Great cherry and red fruit balanced notes, but perhaps lacking the longer finish of the 2016 vintage which was one of my favourite moderately priced Chiantis.
This Sangiovese is still super and I think I will get a half dozen more! Gong xi fa cai, happy chinese new year!

Red fruited, cranberry, cherry, a bit of sweet oak. Fresh tangy fruit in the mouth, silky mouthfeel in the mouth, which took a couple of hours to emerge. Medium bodied, not hugely tannic. A lovely balanced Chianti, nothing profound.

Decanted and drunk over an evening. Cherry, red berry, herbal, touch of oak spice. More sweet fruit to taste, silky almost creamy mouhfeel, despite plenty of acid. Low tannin. Elegant and fresh, delicious Chianti Classico.

Very bright floral nose, rose and cherry blossom. Light to medium bodied, tangy fruit, red cherry. Tomato leaf, a touch of iron. Light but spiky tannin and quite a good presence in the mouth. Long finish. Excellent, needs a bit longer though.

Iltet 3 timer. Zalto: Bourgogne.
Veronelli 3 red stars - An excellent wine. PARKER (86). Vinous 92. James Suckling 91. Decanter 91. Falstaff 92. Jancis Robinson 17.

Sangiovese night (Frank's place in Matraville): From Coravin. Medium plus intensity aromas and it's showing it's youth compared to the 2015 and 2016 - far more fruit forward, very much in the wild cherry spectrum, savoury and meaty notes underpin this with a little spice. It has medium plus intensity acidity, hard, slightly bitter, tannins though the fruit is very present on the palate and more ripe. Having said that it's still a bit elbows for me - disjointed. I'm guessing time will help based on the other two vintages...

would drink again.
would not buy again (too expensive, not a fan of the varietal).
