This bottle needs quite a long decant. Would suggest min 2 hours, but felt it was better at the 3 hour mark. A lot of dark fruit on the nose, quite savoury on the palette with the fruit becoming more prominent over time. Cedar, some anise, got some green pepper as well

Ripe blackberry, blueberry, black cherry and pepper. Meaty notes and new oak. Broad with a silky and lively entry. Round and juicy with good balance. Lot of freshness and oaky notes on the super long and spicy finish.

PnP. Starts with load of aroma with black fruits, tobacco, chocolate, coffee. On the palate, more blackfruit, coffee, tobacco, chocolate, black olive. medium body. Long smooth finish. Not sure if this will improve with time. My only bottle. I enjoyed this wine, but not sure its worth the price.

Clear medium ruby; clean medium plus nose of blueberry jam, cigar box, vanilla and baking spices; dry; high acidity; medium plus tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; medium plus flavour intensity; palate is slightly tarter with addition of cocoa and black licorice; long finish; drink now if you prefer more fruit or wait another few years if you prefer more tertiary; even now it’s lovely - a juicy yet respectable fruit bomb

Love this wine. Blackfruits, coffee, some chocolate. Very smooth, great mouth feel. Lingering finish. Best expression of carmenere I have had. Wonderful wine.

Dark blue and black fruits, black cherry, plum, crab-apple, some over-ripe fruit character which I’m not a fan of, olive juice, moss, forest floor, clove, medium tannins that are fine and balanced well with the fruit. The mouthfeel is very silky and the finish is quite long (40+ seconds). Overall it’s a high quality wine but it’s not among my favorite flavor profiles.

WSET 3 - session 8 (Utrecht): Deep ruby, with high intensity on the nose with aroma’s of mint, green bell pepper, black olives, eucalyptus, ceder and coffee. The wine is dry, with medium+ acidity, high alcohol, high (ripe) tannins, full body and medium finish. Too young for me

Loads of deep red and dark fruit; very concentrated. quite smooth with easy tannin, wood is minor but adding flavor, a hint of roasted red pepper. Drinking well now but I'm sure many good years ahead too.

Wow tellement beau nez fruité sur les baies bleues, super doux en bouche et vraiment une belle longueur, très peu de tannins, un peu de cuir mais surtout des belles baies en longueur, très agréable et accompagne super bien une belle pièce de viande rouge.

The nose on this wine is just impeccable. Passion fruit and coffee... how those two present themselves simultaneously to me in just enjoyable fashion is wild. Not sure of the aging potential of this wine, but it's ready to go NOW!

Very smooth and balanced wine. Does not need any air - tasted great right after PnP. Nose had delicious blue fruit and floral note, and mid-palate was fruit-forward (as I like) and just delicious. Finish was smooth with mild-mod acidity, and tannins were soft and mild. Definitely worth the $53 that I paid for it in mid-2020, with a major coupon from Total Wine. As I check Total Wine's website right now, cost is $79.97. Now that is inflation! Could it be due to Mr Inflation James Suckling rating it at 98 points? (Just subtract 4-6 points whatever Mr. Suckling rates a wine at to get a more real world rating.) Although I really enjoyed this wine, right now the cost is too much for what it is. There are Napa Valley Cabs that I would prefer to be drinking at $80 compared to this wine.

Decanted for 2 hours. Deep purple with clearing at the edges. Intense perfumed nose of freshly cut flowers, raspberries, blueberry jam, quince, earth. Teetering on the edge of being nearly confected, but pulls back. Palate confirms nose, very fruit-forward with good acidity, medium-minus tannins, and excellent length. Really terrific, open wine - I preferred this vintage compared to the 2016 tasted a few years ago. Drinking well now.

Clear deep ruby with staining legs; clean medium plus nose of cassis jam, vanilla, floral citrus, blueberry jam, barnyard and garrigue; dry; high acidity; medium tannins; high alcohol; medium plus body; pronounced flavour intensity; palate has fruit payoff and addition of cocoa; long finish; still a baby but shows great promise; don’t drink for at least another year

I had no idea what this was when I smelled it the first time, since I’ve never had Carménère before.
Such interesting notes on the nose after a long 2-hour decant! Powerful violet, blueberry, mocha, chocolate, smooth leather, followed by an influx of plum, vanilla, oak, blackberry, graphite, pepper and cream on the palate, for a long beautiful finish.
Complex, well-balanced. Delightful.

A great Carmenere, and my first from Chile. Teeth-staining purple, but more garnet in the glass. Cherry and mint nose, hints of chocolate and rose. Tastes of cherry and dark fruits / dark flowers, green pepper finish. Smoother tannin than expected. Drank it young, but sometimes that happens.

Absolutely fantastic, as usual. This is dense, deep and layered, complex, with a refreshing acidity. Wonderful nose and palate with "crème de cassis", chocolate, espresso, blackberries and floral notes...and very refined tannins. One of the best QPR if you like big reds...that are not heavy. Would be curious to try an aged Purple Angel.
The 2017 Purple Angel is showing a medium concentrated purple appearance in the glass. The wine has a big and warm nose full of sweet cherry, grapefruit, pomegranate and mint, with hints of white pepper and a slight medicinal note. The palate presents you with great mouth watering acidity and soft tannins. The wine is balanced with a long lingering finish. It could use a year or two to really show its potential. Drink now (with a short decant) through 2030

Benefited from decanting and standing for 30mins. Smooth, fine tannins well balanced with pronounced black and red fruit erring towards cherry. Hints of something herbaceous, spice, tobacco and chocolate. High alcohol is well integrated. Creamy, rich mouthfeel and long finish. Outstanding.

Decanted and drank over 8 hours (I always long decant all my young reds for tasting note purposes)
Dark, inky-purple, thick, viscous full bodied wine Vanilla, light oak, all spice, dark fruit, fruit candy, some faint vegetative notes. Grippy first sips. Very dry, with nice tannin. Big and bold, but well balanced. Medium plus finish. More of that green garden vine showing, but more spice and hint of black pepper. Dark berries notes are strong. WOW! This wine is DAMN good for the price. This is CASE WORTHY. It should develop nicely in the coming years, but it is approachable NOW. GO GET SOME!

A blend of 92% Carmenere and 8% Petit Verdot, the 2017 is tightly wound at this stage with perfumed dark berry, herb, grilled red pepper, and wood spice aromas. It's medium-full bodied with very good fruit concentration and lovely, balanced aroma replays framed by elegant tannins. Acids are well-balanced. Excellent length with savoury touches on the finish. I would tuck this away for a couple of years and drink to 2030.
