Bright garnet with slight bricking. Initially has some balsamic VA that mostly blows away. Still somewhat youthful nose of blackcurrants, creme de cassis, tar, some menthol, touch of development with fig and mushrooms. Palate is mouth filling, full bodied and fresh with red fruits, cassis, some slightly tart cranberries and touch of leather. Finishes long with nice pleasant soft-ish tannins and more tar and leather. This is likely drinking close to peak right now. Very good stuff.

100% Cabernet, aged in new French oak for 18 months. Aromas show the evolution of this wine with complex scents of tobacco, leather, dried sage, tea, mission fig, black plum, dark earth, coffee, oak and teakwood. The palate retains its acidity while the tannins have fully integrated. Flavors of dark cherry, fig and black plum come tightly woven with tobacco, leather, black tea, dried florals, herbs, earth, coffee and oak. the finish lingers replaying the tobacco and leather notes.
Drink Now.

Dinner at R&Y: Deep and glossy dense ruby to almost purple at the core. Lovely nose of deep dark red fruit. Some spice too. Served blind this feels like a Syrah, and I just don't get a sense of Cab Sauv at all. That said, it's lovely. Rich, deep and long. ****

Closed and difficult to pick out any specific notes apart from oak and some vanilla initially. Opened up during the evening but remained a little subdued. Did not show the typical aged Cab notes. Well build an all components in the right place but almost a little boring. I think I prefer them a little younger.

A lighter colour at the edge. A slightly sweetish nose with blackcurrants, some liquorice and vanilla, and just a hint of development. Medium(+) body with some sweetness of fruit, blackcurrants, vanilla, mild tannins and good acidity. Does not have very much of the typical developed Cabernet Sauvignon nose, but the mild palate seems fully developed. 90 p.

Drank from magnum bottle brought to a wine party about 1.5 months ago. What I do remember is the magnum is at it's peak now and drinking great! If you have a bottle, drink now. The taste profile did not change with time and deteriorated the next day (according to my friend who held the party and drank the leftover next day). It was perfectly balanced with smooth integrated tannins. Full bodied, medium length. One of the better cabs I've had in a while. My last bottle, wish I had more.

- Crimsom color - Very expressive nose of blackberry, soft charred wood smoke, chocolate and black pepper. Missing the fresh green pepper nose that I have found in previous bottles. Body was extremely closed bordering on dumb. Decanted both bottles for 2 hours and drank it searching for the soul of the wine but didn't find it. Big disappointment for a special meal - I have had this wine several times before with much better results. Both bottles were similar.

Mas La Plana vertical tasting (Brussels): Reserved nose with red berry fruit, chocolate and some earthy notes. Very smooth and perfectly balanced in the mouth, lots of cassis and a very long finish. Very rich wine but also very smooth and aromatically not very expressive at the moment. More bottle aging is probably still required to unveil the full potential of this wine. Appearing very young, with almost no tertiary aromas when compared with the 1998.

Opaque in color, turning ruby red on the rim, no sediment. Smoky fruit in the nose. Touch of earth, laden with minerality. Black fruit flavors, good acidity, long finish-coarsely grained tannins. Plenty of fruit at the end as well. Just keeps going from start to finish. Great bottle of Cab.

90 pts

Cassis, black cherry and chocolate/ vanilla lead the palate. Intense ruby robe with garnet rim, leads to slow stained tears. On first pass, black currant, vanilla, capsicum, white pepper and chocolate notes. Secondary aromas of earth linger behind. A great example of New World modern winemaking technology and single grape varietal combined with Old World terroir.
Overall a very good to great bottle. I found this a bit less mouthfilling and lush as before but very enjoyable with a seared Prime Rib-eye with Roasted Garlic and Truffle Butter and a Caesar Salad with proscuitto crisps.

The wine has a dark red violet color with no trace of aging. The nose is elegant and developed with plenty of dark chocolate and cocoa, smoke, dark cherry, leather, black pepper and very discreet tones of green vegetables. In the mouth the wine is rich and full bodied, well balanced with ripe tannins and a good mouth feel. The finish is medium plus with firm tannins and a bitter sweet dark chocolaty aftertaste. The tannins are firm, not aggressive on the finish and this wine has a long life ahead but drinking very well now. 91 points

Very dark color. Like ink actually..but now to the wine itself. Oak and lots of fruits as one might find on the nose as well. Maybe a bit too much oak, but then it's nice. Acidity is also pretty nice. Long finish and very oaky at the end, so maybe a bit plain after all, but nice. The vintage was actually 2004, so maybe a few more years would balance this, but what would happen to acidity..well one has to find out!

Intense deep reddish purple in color. The nose is complex showing, chocolate, clove, green pepper, spices, and black currents. Rich int eh mouth but with fine tannins, and a finish that lingers for more that 30seconds. Cherry, chocolate, pepper, toasted nuts and vanilla all mix in the mouth. This is a special wine and one I would love to drink more often. 4.5/5

A bit lacking in concentration, the nose was great, with typical 'Cab' notes, fruit/oak, very balanced and smooth on the palate, with a nice finish - I expected more frankly, but it was very good (88 Points).

Rounded currant, mint, toast and mineral with a slight mushroom and earth note. Full but elegant; still youthful. Curranty finish.
4/5
