Tried again - still 5 bottles left - same as tasting note from 2014 - but more intensive - nose now with tobacco - flavor liquorous - finish never ending - chapeau

Drank in poor glasses, so no real notes. It tasted lovely, but hard to get at the real wine. So, I'll wait for the next bottle and make sure when I'm visiting a friend that I have good glasses with me.

Definitely moving up. Takes at least an hour to open. Classic light tar and roses on the nose. Palate is medium body with spice, leather and light tar notes and big nebbiolo fruit. There is a nice hit of acidity. Great balance. Tannins kick in near end, but still have a nice kick. Lots of life ahead.

Still young. Takes about an hour to open. Classic light tar and roses on the nose. Palate is medium body with leathery and light tar notes and significant nebbiolo fruit. The fruit is countered by a nice hit of acidity. Balanced overall. Tannins kick in near end, but are moderate but still have a nice kick. Delicious. Despite that these notes are essentially the same as 3 years ago, I think we need to wait another few years to see this one blossom, possibly into the 94 range.

dark color with orange twinkles and long legs - very intense barolo nose with wild cherries and sandal wood - very thick flavor, figs and raspeerys, a little orange - long finish

serious wine in it youth with deep dark purple color and lots of blueberry and black cherry along with the fine structure and immense depth; decanting probably would have allowed this to open more fully and air out the firm tannins; it finished quite dry; I expect this to evolve into a magnificent, balanced beauty down the line.

Very dark ruby with no sign of bricking. Lots of new leather on the nose in addition to ceder, black fruits and the slightest hint of coffee. Palette mirror the nose with older leather, black cherry, a whack of cocoa and an espresso bean finish. Still a bot young. First of 4 bottles. Decanted for 45 minutes so far. Well made and nicely balanced. Highly recommended. Shame not to enjoy food with this wine.

Still quite young. Tar and roses on the nose -- quite a classic. Leathery notes along with big fruit, with a signfiicant acid kick, and fairly strong tannins. Needs more time. A pleasurable drink but needs time to come into a more complete balance.

Drank 2011-09. Brick colored hue. Rounded nose encompassing of light cherry, mushrooms, earth, flowers and some other plummy fruit. Tannins are still somewhat young, yet elegant with a long finish. Acidity is present, not overwhelming. Still has legs to go on for at least 5 more years. Great to drink now as well if paired with correct food.

375ml decanted 90 minutes before drinking. It needed all that time and a bit more. Pleasant aromas of spice and earthy cherry. Full palate of cherries, licorice. Leather notes dominate the finish - which also shows a bit of heat. Good, not great, barolo - but a good barolo is pretty great compared to much of the competition.

Still young. Takes about an hour for it to start to open. Classic light tar and roses on the nose. Palate is medium body with leathery and light tar notes and significant nebbiolo fruit. Balanced overall. Tannins kick in near end, but are moderate and pretty well integrated. Very enjoyable and should develop farther.

Brilliant color. The nose shows forward aromas of stewed berries, flowers, brown spices, minerals and a hint of tobacco. This is medium full bodied on the palate with excellent concentration and good class. The medium plus length finish features some alcoholic heat.

Still pretty tight...but after a few hours, it opens to beautiful garnet dusty floral rose spice, dried orange rinds, anise, earth tones. Rustic wild berry/raspberry/cherry fruit with a good dose of citrus acidity. Tasty now with air...but could use a little more aging. Wish I had more.

Decanted for 2 hrs....needs more. Light translucent ruby, slight orange tinge, color. Beautiful dusty floral spice, tobacco, licorice, dried oranges/raspberry/cherry nose. Very tight and firm in the mouth...but with a nice plate of Chicken Marsala....you get fresh crushed berries, floral dried roses, tobacco, mouth puckering citrus acidity. Great flavors..just in need of time to mellow. Love the dusty cherry spice. Try again in 2012. +pts

Winery Visit and Tasting - Macarini (La Morra, Piedmont, Italy): Tasted at the winery; Garnet color again not entirely clear but a deeper color than the La Serra 03. I picked up more tobacco and black cherry aromas and flavors. The finish was quite long and aromatic. Again balanced but more acidic than the La Serra 03. It should improve with age. Well-priced. €25 from the winery.
