Really good for a large champagne house. Leaner with less brioche than Dom, Rare, Bollinger Anne and less reduction/toast than Krug. Overall just cleaner and less opponent in a good way. Stone fruit, mineral, and green apple wrapped in a compact more white coloration than golden.
Based on 2008 and it shows. Lean and chiseled, frothy still. This will need a longer time to be ready than the more expressive #26 and #24. I continue to feel that the prime time of most 2008 Champagne is after 2025. 94pt for now with upside from here.
Drank blind. This was the winner in the tasting. Very well balanced and complex. Long taste, that evolves after couple of hours. Almond, citrus such as lemon and orange. I believe this is a very young Chasmpagne and a would wait for at least 4 years or even more. i believe this Champagne can reach more than 95p in the future.

Pale shimmering gold color. Split bottle over 2.5 hours. I was saddened to see Papies recent note on this. We couldn't have had a more different experience if we tried. We drank this last evening with dinner and found it to be simply profound; a wine of subtlety, grace and harmony, riveting in its puirty. This is not a blockbuster in that sense. Does it have power, yes, but it is well disguised and it sneaks up on you over time as this evolves in glass. We found it incrediby hard to put this down. Starting off with East Coast oysters and progressing through our sushi and on to our seared yellowfin tuna steak this was always captivating. Perhaps it was our recent visit to L-P and drinking the stunning 26th edition and wondering how the lauded 25th would compare. The 26 has the power in spades, this is all about finesse and purity. The nose explodes with fresh sea air and you sense the ultra fine mousse as it wafts out of the glass, Subtle pie crust and baking bread, a toast that is just floating on air in the bakground, Anjou pear, Meyer lemon, and white flowers with that crystalline minerality flirting delicately on the nose. The palate is exquisite and fine, green apple, pear, Meyer lemon, with an additional twist of tangerine, crystalline oyster shell minerality with the most refined chalk you can envision, and a featherweight sense to the creamy texture. There's a sneaky subtle toast that slowly builds yet still blends wonderfully in the whole. This was so long and bright with a laser focus and beam of acidiy. Wow, this was glorious. If it tells you anything, I ordered more 10 minutes into drinking this. 97+ to 98pts.

Wow. Took an hour or so to open up but after that it was an explosion of nuts and cream and chalk that was powerful but elegant with finesse. Long long finish.
Definitely give it time to open up — on opening it was quite restrained and subtle. Which leads me to think it will benefit from age.

Enjoyed with Xavier94 at his birthday tasting (see his note). Chalky, racy, very impactful. Very youthful and long. The youngest Grand Siecle I’ve ever had yet I found it more “ready” and appealing than my fellow tasters. Assuming there was plenty of reserve stock wines blended with the 2008. Great stuff! 94+

Shows very youthful and fresh today with a racy core of lemon citrus, some very vague tart apple aromas and yeasty influence as it warms up in the glass. I can't imagine what a magnum of this would show like at this point. This is impressively long and persistent on the finish with a hidden sappiness to the fruit that coats the palate for quite a while. Needs quite a bit of time. 92-93.

Bright and citrusy, but powerful at the same time. This is a beautiful champagne in the making, but the consensus was that it’s a bit tight and closed up at the moment. Delicious all the same, it’s best days lie ahead.

"I got three Willis" (Chicago, IL): Comes with a pretty ridiculous metal cage, which has no conceivable use case. The wine itself though is definitely quite good; not as rich and concentrated as Krug but very much in the same vein. Maybe a bit more white fruit and a little more autolytic, but very tasty all the same. Fingers crossed, this might be one of the last grande marque values out there.

No notes taken. This is a promising iteration of Grand Siecle with great 2008-driven freshness, tension and structural integrity. Today, this showed still very young and still tight. Only with time and air we got a peak into the inner complexities which are there. It was great to try it by the glass but I would not open a bottle today or anytime in the next 5 years (probably even 10 years). This was one of the tighter, younger 2008s I recently had. 93ish points experience today but the potential is clearly higher.

No 25 from 750. 2008, 2007,2006. At the chateau. Just a beautiful nose of orchard fruits (red apple skins, apricot) and spring flowers. Chalky minerality and wet stones as well. Rich and intense but very light on its feet. Electric acidity, this is incredibly elegant and fresh with a long, long finish. Delicious now, this will last for years and years and will improve with a few more years post disgorgement. 97

First time with this iteration. Found this to be very different. Very little happening here. Not a lot of fun. Not a lot of flavor. I will say balance was nice and this certainly isn’t an unpleasant champagne, there just isn’t really much of anything. Not sure if time will help it, so probably won’t wait too long drinking next bottle.
Excellent bottle that took a few hours to open up, drank even better on day 2. Brioche, yeast and slate on the nose. Fine mousse with lively acidity. Lots of up side in the future, glad I picked up a few of these.

Spectacular. So concentrated with neroli oil, lemon zest, ocean mist salinity... all of which evolves into something a little more flower nectar/candy spectrum. Pretty searing on the acid, but good dosage balance. Really savored and enjoyed this one.

Blend 2008-2007-2006 with a majority of 2008. 12 years of ageing.
Citrus nose.
In the mouth, there is a lot of energy. The depth of 2008 is striking. Dosed at 7g, this gives comfort to the wine because the acidity is still quite high, especially with the dominant chardonnay. The wine is structured, it becomes floral with aeration even if the citrus fruits clearly dominate. 2007 and 2006 bring a little roundness to the fiery 2008 which will survive the years. Great balance, ample finish with great length. Discreet effervescence.
A wine built to be great but which will take time to reveal its full potential.

First bottle from a several case purchase. My immediate read on this is that it's ready to go. Vinous and rich but with a crisp acidic finish. Warm and round and no hint of austerity which is what I was expecting given the 2008 base year. On current showing, I prefer the no. 24 which is based on 2007 and which seems more lifted and fresh by comparison. Early days though.

No notes taken. The 9th bottle for a group of four... hence difficult to give a fair judgement. In my eyes this isn‘t ready yet. In my experience, these Grand Siecles need several years after release to develop the charm and creaminess and this newest edition is no exception, especially in a high acid vintage like 2008 (base year). Better wait until 2027. Today this was at 92 pts. But there is a lot of upside.

The Grand Siècle No. 25 is the latest release from Laurent Perrier. 2008 base vintage (65%), 2007 (25%), 2006 (10%). 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir from 9 Grand Crus (Cramant, Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy, Tours-sur-Marne, Mailly). 12 years on lees, 7g/L of dosage. One of the best releases of Grand Siècle. Incredible energy and drive, a combination of electric acidity and bright citrus fruits of 2008 and 2007, with a sprinkle of rich yellow fruits of 2006. Expansive minerals on the mid-palate, just like licking on a wet slate. Drink from 2022 – 2042. (91+/100)

En boca la entrada es buena, pasa cremoso, con excelente acidez, paso entre cítrico y mineral, bastante largo y con excelente presencia.

Spectacular. So concentrated with neroli oil, lemon zest, ocean mist salinity... all of which evolves into something a little more flower nectar/candy spectrum. Pretty searing on the acid, but good dosage balance. Really savored and enjoyed this one.

BTG. Rich orchard fruit with a bright lemon kick. So great already with more to come.

Holiday Champagne Gala (Park Ridge Country Club): Walkaround tasting. Great already now, wonderfully complex with even more to come in the future.

Champagne Tasting (Restaurant Valuas, Venlo): In line with the Grand Siecle style. Though I expected more from No. 25 considering the 2008 base year. Drinking well now, but there is plenty of potential.

testade denna mot en Comtes 2008 och vi satta samma poäng på både två. Fantastiska champagner trots sin ungdom!
