Wine tasting with colleagues: Agree with previous notes that this was dark-fruited, tannic and closed at the moment. Thought this would be open but guess I missed the window.
As a few others have noted, this is a bit tannic and heavy right now, quite different than the professional reviews suggest (but consistent with another 2019 St. Estephe I’ve tried in this price range). The fruit is there but it’s underwhelming, and leans more to plum than cassis.
I expect this will improve with age, but right now I don’t find it very enjoyable. Maybe the pros got it wrong?
P.S. It’s interesting that this wine contains 3% Petit Verdot, which Robert Parker once described as providing “the hard tannic backbone that is otherwise absent as a result of a high concentration of Merlot.” (Bordeaux, A Consumer’s Guide, 4th Ed.)

Presenting some nice notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and pencil, this wine is somewhat closed, tight, roughly tannic and lean at the moment. However, there should be sufficiently fruit for longer cellaring, and I also think that the wine will put on weight with time. All in all, not quite filling the expectations now, but probably better in a few years.
Nice. Some tannins present that make it probably heavier than it needs to be but some fruit there as well. Good overall but I remember when this level of quality Bordeaux was <$20.

Opened on Thursday, finished on Sunday. Still kicking and not a bit tired, so it should have lots of time ahead. Tonight (Sunday), very solid garnet. Nose is a little reticent, but shows some saddle leather to go with somewhat faint red and black fruit. Nice wine in the mouth, rich and round, won't wow you, but a solid effort and a smoking hot buy at Costco's $16.99. You won't find a Napa cab anywhere near this quality for close to the price. 4-11-16-8: 89/100.
Opened last night and immediately showed it was a bargain at $16.99 (Costco). Now finishing it up the next night, even stronger. Rich, dark purple-red color. Nose and mouth diverge on this, with the nose more on the floral, red side, and the palate decidedly favoring the dark side. Certainly tannic at this young age, it is still surprisingly drinkable at so young an age. Not ideal drinking, but if you have a big beefy dish, this could work. 5-12-15-8: 90/100.

Blinded this on my brother who correctly guessed 2019 Left Bank Bordeaux! This seemed pretty tight at the moment, but the stuffing is there for this to improve for a long time to come. Will wait 3+ years on the next bottle.

Smooth red and dark fruits with light spices on the nose. Elegant palate with seeet elements and viscous fruit in good balance with smooth and lively acid and tannins. Good integrated oak notes - sligtly to dominating. Good lenght. Definately drinkable now but there is potential of more balance and complexity during the next coupple of years including more integration of the oak.

Pulled the cork on the bottle accessed by Coravin in April and June. Consistent experience with those notes. Young, bold...perhaps even a touch brash...yet showing excellent promise.
Recommend holding for several years; it needs time to integrate. As it sits now, 91 points, with improvement likely. Strong QPR! 91-92.

Nose: Bright raspberry and cedar spice; light; sweet stone. Palate: Prickly oak up front that dominates throughout, which masks a candy sweet red fruit beneath; a bit hollow mid-palate; high-toned tannins that provide a sensation of alcohol heat rather than a mouthcoating effect; good acid.

Appealing, bold, and rustic. All as it should be, if leaning modern. Nevertheless, the wine offers more than a little poise and verve. Serious acid, backed by bracing tannins, prominent. It begs for a long cellar rest.
Alongside the same vintage Potensac, this features greater concentration and potential upside. Stylistically, however, a coin flip for overall quality and preference. 91-92.

Mostly Old School, particularly for the modern style of Bordeaux. Rustic substance throughout. Heavy blackcurrant, tobacco, gravel, and metallic ores. This needs time...a lot of it. In this way, it represents uniqueness in this vintage.
Not the equal of the best 2019 Left Bank wines, but more correct and enjoyable than some of the prettier, more highly regarded, Classed Growth offerings that lack its noteworthy substance. Worth seeking out. 91-92.

Second time tasting this vintage. Tasted over four days alongside the 2020. I couldn’t get a read on this one last time I had it because I tried to drink it on day one. It’s far too young for that and seemed to be all knees and elbows. This time, however, I purposely only tasted each wine very briefly on day one, vacuumed it, and put in the fridge for assessment over a few days.
This was at its apex on day four. In short, it’s staggeringly good juice. Now I have no doubt this is going to be a great wine. Must have a case—at least. Jeff Leve says this will be a 94-point wine someday, and I’m a whole-hearted believer. My score is for day four, but I can easily see this jumping two points in maturity. As a side note, the 2020 is a good wine, but it seemed rather hollow in comparison. 13.5% ABV (very good; above average; distinctive/***/17/92)
Fantastic young bdx. Leans towards darker sleeker fruit, but there's a clear flint and smoke element that I usually associate with St Estephe. Fine tannic backbone. Drinks well now but I suspect oak element and slightly rough tannins will integrate with time. Excellent QPR

From a single bottle purchased at retail. Everything was in balance and present in the right amounts—fruit, alcohol, acid, and tannins. The tannins were ripe, and there was a good core of red and black fruits that was judiciously dosed with oak and showing wood spices in the substantial finish.
Is this an 88 or is it a 94? I don’t have enough experience to tell such things at such an early stage, so I’ll refrain from scoring this and just say this was very good and seemed distinctly above average at this point. It’s also relatively approachable already, even from from PnP. 13.5% ABV.

Just got´em today and was very curious to open one. This has to be the discovery of 2022 for me. Very smooth and elegant Bdx. It is incredibly tight and I guess it will take a minimum of 4-5 years of cellartime to become ready although not mature. This wine I would bet will be a gem in 8-10 years. For $20 I am all in. I left in the decanter the other half so I can see what 12-18 hours can do to the wine. I am ordering 12 bottles tomorrow, can´t go wrong and for $20 it is such a good value. Cheers and happy 2023 ! BTW, my score is very conservative and think this will be a 93-94 wine down the road.

Relatively new to Bordeaux but I really enjoyed this. Reasonably closed on the nose and palate but I notice some plush Merlot fruit come through plus some chocolate and blueberry. Noticeably young, fruit took a while to come through, has some menthol note and tannin is fine but prominent. Like everything is fighting for attention at this stage. Although, I still think it drinks nicely now, no really sharp edges or overwhelming tannin. But must be better in 5+. Qpr seems quite good.

Beautiful nose, very refined - Pencil shavings and flowers. The palate can't match the first impression of the nose - a little flat, seems shut down, nearly no fruit and no pressure. Thin on the palate, but long finish. Will try another one in 2-3 years. 89-90

This shows the crunchy, fresh side of the '19 vintage, combined with surprisingly deep structure. Dark fruit, chocolate, with some oak that needs time to integrate. Those professing there to be no value in Bordeaux have obviously never tasted this opaque ruby, intensely aromatic wine. A blend of 59% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, it offers an olfactory package of black currant and dark plum fruit that is accented with notes of licorice, bittersweet chocolate, allspice and savory herbs. Medium-to-full-bodied, fresh and without any heat from its 13.5% alcohol, it delivers flavors mirroring the nose and stays solid on the mid-palate. Even at this early stage the wine's ample tannins are silky in texture and the oak is beautifully woven. Concluding with impressive length, this is a stellar Saint-Estèphe that has the structure to improve and age gracefully. If you choose to pop the cork now, give it plenty of air. This particular bottle was Vinturi-decanted and serially tasted over the ensuing three hours, evolving throughout the entire time frame. Drink 2024-2039.

Blue red, obviously very young, open nose with lots of fruit, cassis, plum, blueberry, cherry, some oak. Full-bodied, quite tannic, red fruit, good acidity, fresh and generous. No doubt that this should be cellared, hard to rate now but 90+ for sure.

Not overly oaky. Dark-fruited, with tones of leather and soil. Nicely balanced, with medium+ concentration of fruit and good acidity. Seems like it will age well. Crazy-good QPR at $17.

Nose of black cherry, black currants, allspice, and floral notes, same on the palate, medium/big body, fairly fruit forward, tasty, at $22 a winner to enjoy now and over the next 5 years, mouth filling fruit, young, and a medium/long finish with soft tannins, photo uploaded label and cork.

Sporting a nice depth of color, the wine pops right off the bat with its nuances of black cherries, currants, thyme, mint, tobacco leaf, spice and smoke. Medium/full-bodied, fresh and vibrant, the fruits with its chocolate and minty overtones linger in the slightly, dusty, long finish. This will age and develop for at least 2 decades or more. Drink from 2025-2040.

Promising signs for Bordeaux 2019 : Cru Bourgeois sampling (Strasbourg, France): Rich, opulent nose. Strawberry and plum fruit, la baie du mur, with smooth and juicy texture. Really good stuff, not among the most potentially complex, but very good. There is a tannic edge to this that reflects the image of Saint Estèphe and that is a good sign. Juicy finish. Maybe not as “complete” as Charmail or quite as nuanced as Cambon.

Leafy aromas with thyme, mint, tobacco leaf, cassis, spice and smoke are easy to find. On the palate, the wine is medium/full-bodied, fresh and vibrant. The energetic finish, with its dusty tannins, lifted red fruits and spicy chocolate is exactly what you were hoping to find. The wine was made from blending of 59% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. 92-94 Pts

Bordeaux 2019 Langtons Arrival Tasting: Lovely fruit but lacking a little in structure and complexity. Flavour didn’t quite persist through the taste.

Välbalanserad men lite tät smak. Lena tanniner, mer ek efter en stund i luften. Bra.

Polished and silky with a distinct dark fruit core. Accessible now thought there’s a finely woven structure underneath. Seamless. Damn impressive for a less than $25 bottle.
This was from 375.

Young obviously.
Black fruits, good body, nice mouthfeel,
Maybe a touch burnt. Powdery tannins, that is the best thing about this wine those powdery tannins. We’ll see how it develops.

Understated but it’s all there. Very juicy finish with blackberries, wood spice and grippy tannins. Maybe just a touch bitterness. Will buy more.

Château Lilian Ladouys Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel 2019
59% M / 37% CS / 3% PV / 1% CF ( 13.5% alc)

92-94 Pts

Very good LL. A bit more backbone and power than the Beau Site. Typical St.Estephe character. Nice
