Slow-O 1 hour. My third time tasting since release and it continues to get better. A considerable amount of structure here and it seems the fruit is up to the task. My challenge will be keeping my hands of the remaining four bottles. I love wines like this from great producers in 'off vintages'. highly recommended
Still drinking great as it has the last few years. Approachable now but enough stuffing for the long to mid term cellaring. Dried cherry, mint, raspberry, milk chocolate, and mineral.

A mid level cuvee in a so-so vintage shouldn’t be this good. Especially not at this age.
Just so clean, light, smooth already. The berries and flower petals jump on your palate. A little aromatically closed compared to the palate, but still very good.
Of course you can keep it, but this is in no way forbidding now. Very smooth for a young barolo.
Disclaimer: I often like my nebbiolo both young and old, but this is still exceptionelt drinkable for its age.

A terrific young Barolo that was both delicious and intriguing on pop n' pour. Texturally silky with black cherry and plum fruit that is pure, focused and not at all lightweight in this more difficult vintage. Refined and integrated tannins. Still open for business and providing oodles of pleasure.

Took about half an hour in the decanter to open up, was tight as a drum on both the nose and palate initially. Finally got to experience the seductive Burlotto nose of fresh cherries and kirsch. Silky and suave tannins, pure red fruit. Very elegant for a warm vintage. Not worth secondary market prices IMO but enjoyed this a lot nonetheless.

So typical Burlotto with aromatics of strawberries and other red fruits, some licorice, green olives in the background and lavender. Weighless, multi-layered and expressive. Drinking well today but no rush.

Great wine, elegant and lightfooted and in the same time with complexity and concentration. The 2018 was already a bit more ready I would keep this for at least 5 more years.

Similar to my last note I love the early accessibility of the 17 Burlotto Barolo’s. Surprisingly the regular village bottling may be the most closed off. Light/delicate/pure red fruit is the main attraction with no sharp edges. Not as structured or complex as say 15 or 16 but so easy to like. Drink in the next year or hold for ten plus.

Dinner at Enoclub in Alba. Nose leads with spices, cherry, prune and chocolate. Palate is clove led, with coffee character too. Far too young, although it opens up pretty quickly, and is really perfumed and polished when it does. Approachable with food though.

Wild strawberries, red cherries, with a juicy candied element and a slightly stemmy character. The tannins are long and stringy, but not offensive allowing for early drinking. But there’s something buried under the covers here, and I get the sense it’s going to be very special in a few years. 6 bottles left and excited to see how this wine evolves.

PnP. Upon opening the wine was already firing on all cylinders.
This wine was so special! It combined strawberry and cherry fruit with a wonderful minerality. The tannins are embedded inside the fruit like a pit in a stone fruit. Everything is in perfect balance and so elegant yet concentrated that one would never imagine this was from the warm 2017 vintage. Fantastic!
Tasted at the winery. Opened the previous day, a glass or two poured and then the cork was put back in the bottle. This note is from day 2.
Focused on the fruity side of the aromatic spectrum, with strawberry, cherry, light balsamic notes, a little tar. Quite expressive already. Similar to the normale, but turned up by 50% in terms of both structure and intensity of flavour and aromatics. Airy, floating on the palate. Has the structure to age, but already very enjoyable and not too hard around the edges.
My first try with the Burlotto baroli, and I am completely blown away. Especially the Monvigliero, acclivi and normale are in a very light airy style. They seem to be built on the same foundation, where the normale establishes the light touch with fairly fruity aromas. The acclivi takes the normale and dials everything up by 50%. The Monvigliero then takes the acclivi and adds an incredible perfume of roses, lavender and sweet balsamico. The cannubi is, to my palate, of a similar level to the acclivi, but with more power and perhaps less of a unique style.

Still a baby with mouth drying tannic grip. Still I’ve been really impressed with how juicy/open the fruit has been on all the 2017 Burlotto Barolo’s. Dried cherry, raspberry, mint and mineral. Light and delicate appearance but a powerful punch.

A highly-perfumed nose of dried flowers, ripe red fruits, licorice and mint. Full and fleshy in the mouth, with a degree of elegance and latent power. Beautifully put together and long of flavour.

Crazy fruit and complexity. Unfortunately somewhat overshadowed by reduction and tannin.

Burlotto Barolo Tasting + X (Freiheit Vinothek, Ulm, Germany): Way better than the 2015 Acclivi. Beautiful tannin and structure. 92-93

A step up from the regular Cuvee. More structured, deeper notes of cherries and flint. Fat tannins, long finish. Still elegant and balanced.

In a good spot to try. Very easy to drink, super floral berry perfume, solid transparent tannin structure on the palate. This is great.

Return to Piemonte!; 11/25/2021-12/4/2021 (Castello di Sinio, Alba, other various locations): Darker red fruits. This has a bit more heft to it and really interesting to try after the Monvigliero. Good structure. Still young. Perhaps a touch more tannic I guess than I’d think immediately. But still a lot of the prettiness.
