Dark wine, earth driven underscored by medium ripe black fruit and grippy tannin. The good news is that it all works and this wine paired beautifully with bolognese sauce. Molto Buono and ageworthy

Young, but drank very well after decanting. Ample nose of black cherry, sun-dried tomato, crushed rose, tilled soil and boot leather. Beautiful weight in the mid-palate, with almost pleated sheets of tannin coating the mouthfeel tempered nicely by a moderate acid finish. Very nice with tomato based dishes.

Restaurant purchase: based on initial taste we decanted 2/3 of the bottle. After 40 mins there's soft red fruit, thyme and rose petal on the nose. Still lots of acidity on this soft wine with a very dry mid-to-back palate finish.
Crushed seashell, raspberry, unripened strawberry are dominant flavors. After 75 mins in the decanter this is really beginning to hit its stride but there's still enough structure and acid to cut through our bl ragout-based pastas. Went great w halibut puttanesca, and Rose truly dug this

Medium reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & smoky/tar notes, herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of oak in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak. Lingering finish. Appeared readily accessible at present with decanting & extended airing but has the fruit & structure to continue development with continued aging.

I picked this up on a lark when I stopped by the Zachys retail store to pick up some auction purchases and cases of it were stacked on the floor at the bargain basement price of $360/case. Yes please! They even had it in their enomatic so I could try before I buy. Sweet! I sampled this over 2 nights and it was much better on the second. Not surprisingly, given the infanticide I was committing. On day 1, there were pleasant red fruit aromas and dusty spice notes on the nose, but the fruit was a bit thin and masked by the massive tannins. By night two, this was almost burgundian, and had developed lovely raspberry and cherry flavors, underbrush, allspice and tobacco notes, while the tannins had softened. Hold for at least 5 years or give this a good long decant.

Extra wide vessel decant during 90 minute dinner. Enjoyable but still tight and lighter in body towards the end of the meal, hinted at more savory depth beneath the dried sour cherry rosehip with nascent leather cigar box cocoa aromas and flavors. Good length.

Lovely Brunello, black cherry prominent, with a bit of flint lingering through the finish. Nice balance, a bit alcohol upfront (might soften with age?). Fantastic with mushroom and cheese ravioli in fresh marinara sauce

Fine brunello. Dark ruby red, black fruit and forrest floor to the notes. Nice tannins and and a fruity taste that is quite long. Needs a lot of air. Could do with some more years and has potential. Paried with osso buco milanese - excellent pairing.

Medium clear ruby, reticent floral dusty earth reddish fruited nose that began to open up a bit as dinner went along. Brisk tannins and ample acids. Probably going to show more of itself in the 10 yr range - a little tightly wound tonight.

Coravined bottle from yesterday + 30 min air. Had it alongside Banfi'16, and I thought Banfi was 1-2 points better, more depth and more development. Maybe this simply needs more time/air.

Dark cherry, licorice and iron. Good complexity and creamy fruits with supportive powdery tannins. Perfumed florals come to the fore with air. Nice balance and proportion.

The nose is complex, with some mint, baking spices, cherry and cassis. It has generosity of fruit, with some smoke and tar in the background. Fresh acidity punctuates the long finish, Balance is such that it is enjoyable now but there is plenty in reserve.

This wine punches well above its weight and is showing beautifully now. Needs a bit of air but when it gets going it’s sensational. Drink or Hold

Amazing 16 hours in. Just fascinating in its purity and depth. So cellar it for now, I'd say at least three more years.
