Dark wine, earth driven underscored by medium ripe black fruit and grippy tannin. The good news is that it all works and this wine paired beautifully with bolognese sauce. Molto Buono and ageworthy

Young, but drank very well after decanting. Ample nose of black cherry, sun-dried tomato, crushed rose, tilled soil and boot leather. Beautiful weight in the mid-palate, with almost pleated sheets of tannin coating the mouthfeel tempered nicely by a moderate acid finish. Very nice with tomato based dishes.

Restaurant purchase: based on initial taste we decanted 2/3 of the bottle. After 40 mins there's soft red fruit, thyme and rose petal on the nose. Still lots of acidity on this soft wine with a very dry mid-to-back palate finish.
Crushed seashell, raspberry, unripened strawberry are dominant flavors. After 75 mins in the decanter this is really beginning to hit its stride but there's still enough structure and acid to cut through our bl ragout-based pastas. Went great w halibut puttanesca, and Rose truly dug this

Medium reddish garnet in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & smoky/tar notes, herbs, spices, minerals & a hint of oak in the background. Medium-full bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, mulberries & plums with spices, herbs, minerals & a hint of oak. Lingering finish. Appeared readily accessible at present with decanting & extended airing but has the fruit & structure to continue development with continued aging.

I picked this up on a lark when I stopped by the Zachys retail store to pick up some auction purchases and cases of it were stacked on the floor at the bargain basement price of $360/case. Yes please! They even had it in their enomatic so I could try before I buy. Sweet! I sampled this over 2 nights and it was much better on the second. Not surprisingly, given the infanticide I was committing. On day 1, there were pleasant red fruit aromas and dusty spice notes on the nose, but the fruit was a bit thin and masked by the massive tannins. By night two, this was almost burgundian, and had developed lovely raspberry and cherry flavors, underbrush, allspice and tobacco notes, while the tannins had softened. Hold for at least 5 years or give this a good long decant.
