  • Similar note to last bottle drank over two years ago. This is a truly enjoyable and satisfying Oregon Pinot. Superb balance and structure. Great food wine paired with salmon in balsamic reduction. Pleased I have additional bottles.

  • Very nice indeed. Still a little young, should improve for a few more years. Consistent with other vintages of Zépherine, all have been very good. Much easier to like than Burgundies. More fruit, less astringent, better balanced.

  • Only a few bottles left.

This wine is just genuinely fabulous!
    See prior notes.

    Tannins resolving, yet present!
Gets to end of this decade in a walk!

If can find it, buy more.

    I've had 18,19 and 21... consistently quaffable!

  • Less lush and hedonistic (for an OR pinot) as 18 months ago when purchased. Good acidity and structure now; decanted but hardly any evolution over two-three hours. No secondary development yet but obviously time will be good to it.

  • Addendum -
... After 48 hours, this wine reached a mostly Burgundian sensory experience.
Definitely needs to wait a few more years in the bottle.
I must quit robbing the long-term future of this wine's promise of ethereality!!
Yes, it's amazing now. But, 5-10 years, will actually represent reality
    Buy it !
    Keep it!

Over the past year, I've had several really fabulous Pinot Noirs. This Roserock Zephrine is as good as any, better than most, and I've said as much several times.

No need for me to reiterate virtually identical notes.
I just need to figure out how to get more!

Go get this wine. It's soon to have stratospheric pricing. And amazingly, with Burgundian Cote D'Or, and specifically DRC wines, in pricing stratosphere, this wine will begin it's climb overtime to that echelon, without any doubt

Buy it, while there's still price sensibility!

  • Better than our bottle back at the end of '21. Beautiful red fruits, hints of forest floor and cola. Silky and mouth coating with no hard edges. Highly enjoyable and will try to leave our last one alone for a while.

  • Wow! What a wine! Warning: Opens to strong smell of sulphites. Highly recommend that you give this wine a long 4+hr decant if you are opening it now.

Lovely bouquet of roses, cherries, tobacco, and forest floor. Medium+ acidity, medium bodied, long finish. Scintillating on the palate. Like a Mozart sonata, it superbly balances liveliness and structure. The high ratings of WS 95pts, WA 94 pts, JS 96 pts shine light on this terrific wine from this new winery acquired by a very established winery. Memories of my tasting at Domaine Drouhin came flooding in.

    Repeat Purchase: Absolutely

  • Lush with fruit and earthy complexity from the moment the bottle was opened As it gained its legs, the raspberry and mint ga e way to a caramel finish. Now wishing I would have waited another year or two, but a very solid Oregon Pinot.

  • Fabulous. Awesome. Repeat.
    Again and again and again.
I might consider just drinking this wine for the remainder of my days on the planet😎.

After a few decanted hours open, it still hadn't opened to show it's peacock 🦚 feathers... But after about 4-5 hours, this was second to only one wine I can remember.

With classically cooked rack of lamb, this time

    PS - Drink The Rainbow!
( Well, maybe just drink Roserock!)
Back up the 18 wheeler for this . I'm going to Oregon on a day trip, just to buy this and anything I can get my hands on. Geeeeeesus, it's delicious! 👄

  • Nothing I've not already said about this wine.
Loved it so much, and had it so often recently, that it was the candle on my BD cake!
    Awesome!
Now, I'll wait a year, though I'm going to drive/ride to Oregon, to this vineyard, just because it's so freaking good!

  • Fantastic Pinot with great finesse and balance. Very Beaune-like — perhaps Pommard? — but with lower acidity and tannins. Yum!

  • OMG this is sooo delicious! Especially after 2 days open. Wow!
It's amazing what altitude and ambiance does for wine. Had this wine again.
I've nothing to say not already said on the last bottle a couple of months back.
But, I really need to get the 2019. Several cases will be desired!
    Simply irresistible!
And I can't wait to drink this in 2030 and later.

  • Pale ruby.

Medium plus intensity on the nose with red cherry, raspberry, black cherry, violet, vanilla, chocolate, clove, caramel, earth and mushroom. Developing.

Pronounced and dry on the palate with black plum coming through. High acidity, medium minus tannins, high alcohol, long finish.

Delicious wine. Drink now or suitable for further aging.

  • Stellar!

    Pinot Noir 100%
    14.1% abv
The bouquet, aromas and palate are typical Pinot Noir.
It's definitely not Burgundy and I've a bias towards the Cote de Nuits for sure. I said so recently with the base Oregon Drouhin wine.
But this Drouhin wine, this RoseRock vineyard is something else. Special. Different. Almost ethereal.
It's new, but old. It's forward, authentic, genuine. But it's complex and elegant and I have only experienced this kind of pn decades ago with a Californian Calera "Jensen" , something from David Bruce and maybe one other.
I'm so excited to have found this wine, because I've heard for many years that Oregon had wines comparable to Burgundy, and finally, after trying sooo many that weren't close....
I won't delve too far into the details of this Pinot, other than to say it's awesome now, it will likely get a little better, but that it seems to me, it asks to be sipped earlier then later. It's more fresh and though I think where it will develop some complexities, it may also lose since characteristics which makes it so amazing right now.
I tried to buy more. All gone! Boohoo!
I have 5 more bottles of this. One every year and a half. Gets me to 2030.

Addendum- Bought 3 more as it came back into inventory - woohoo!

    PS- Drink the Rainbow!

PSS- I had a Burgundy a day later, and I will just say that this wine was as good. A few days ago, there's not a chance that statement would be mine!

  • Medium ruby colour.

High intensity aromas of dirt road, cinnamon, red cherry, strawberry, cranberry, hint of violet perfume, candied plum, cola, mocha.

    Pronounced palate.

Medium body, high acidity, long finish, medium (-) tannin.

  • Just a delicious and well made example of Oregon Pinot Noir. No formal tasting note as consumed during a busy dinner party.

Lots of ripe black fruit, spice and herbal elements. Crackling with tension and structure with a medium plus finish.

Delicious stuff that didn't last long!

  • Winery visit. Sweet red cherry and berry aromas, with anise & vanilla bean, fresh hibiscus and mineral. Very elegant on the palate, with nice fruit expression and integrated secondary spices. Nice acid integration, with firm medium round tannins and good overall length.

  • This is very good stuff; fresh red fruits, floral and spicy with a lovely elegance and freshness to the nose; the palate is beautifully balanced and delivers everything from the nose with style and with good concentration. Easily will improve for a decade.

  • Wow—blown away by this wine!
Nose: wild Alaskan blueberry and raspberry, cherry, rose, warm spices
Flavor: bright, fruity. Initially bitter aftertaste becomes tobacco, lemon with food and time
Nice mouthfeel and structure esp for Pinot

  • Savory and saline blue fruits, excellent structure and balance, and an exceptional finish. This is a barrel selection from the Roserock vineyard and it shows its "reserve" status quite well. Drinking well now with a brief decant or hold for further development.

  • Beautiful, garnet color in the glass after 1 hour decant. Ripe red fruit nose, with some spice and clove notes. Palate shows a very well balanced wine with ripe fruit notes of wild cherries, with some spice and slight oak, and firm but ripe tannins. Drinking wonderfully but would expect it to improve with further bottle age, as suggested by the wine's structure.

  • Color hue clarity: very light garnet, clear

    Aroma bouquet: pepper, perfume, earthy,

Taste texture finish balance: light body, pepper, juicy, sour, quick finish, plum

Overall: 4/5. An excellent wine on it's own or with food. Lots complexity.

  • Interesting wine which evolved over the course of the evening. Dark garnet in the glass. Nose was initially just tart red fruits (raspberry, pomegranate). With air notes of cola and earth start popping up along with the fruit. Palate was juicy and and followed the nose. Finish lingered and had a bit of tannin to keep everything in check.

  • Fantastic Pinot that has both power and Pinot grace. A beautiful, well done, treat was drinking well now with some air but will definitely benefit from more cellar time.

  • Medium-deep garnet in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of ripe fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & blueberries with overtones of spices notes of cloves & floral notes, earthy, minerals & a slight hint of oak/vanilla in the background. Medium bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, strawberries & blueberries with spices, herbs, cola, minerals & a touch of oak/vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with extended airing although it does has the ripe fruit & firm structure for further development with additional aging at which time it may score higher.

  • Raspberry flavors. Fruit forward at this point.

  • In a world of insanely priced burgundies, this is a great value for price. Delicate, raspberry color and taste. Great balance with just the right acidity for a young wine of its class. Delicious, ready to go or wait.

  • This was superb. Big fruits and tannins. Kept opening in the glass. A prime example of pinot from Eola-Amity Hills.

  • Magnum

Holy zookies, this is explosively aromatic, just bursting from the glass with intense perfumes that combine wood spice, ivy, cardamon, red currant, raspberry, ultimately mostly driven by the wood spice still but there are masses of underlying material here, a touch tarry . Silky, with some richness, great fruit layered over a nice bed of minerality of wood tannins. This is pretty fabulous, still quite tannic and with a bit of wood to absorb, but the fruit is tense and transparent, medium plus bodied, though not at all heavy with good length and a piercing finale. Just lovely wine, needs some food at this point but it's really quite satisfying at this point.
