93/94. The mountain fruit really elevates this and balances out the ripe-er valley floor fruit. Not a ton of structure but very much my style with good earth and mineral elements. Only 1 bottle left now :(

Two hour slow ox. Deep dark magenta color. Black Forest cake, cornmeal, blueberry, and powdered sugar. Dry, plush, full bodied palate. Full tannins on the medium long+ finish.
Brought to Sunday family dinner (Italian style)with my mom and family. This is always a crowd pleaser (especially when every dish has a red sauce) Black and red fruits, full bodied, integrated tannins. What it lacks in complexity, it makes up in deliciousness. One of the best versions of this wine in the past decade. 11 different vineyards contribute, if I remember correctly
Two hour decant. Deep dark magenta color. Blackberry cobbler, raspberry-infused chocolate, and subtle pepper. Very dry palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
This is simple, but nicely built for the price point. Absolutely made to enjoy in its youth. Very reliable from vintage to vintage.

One hour decant. Very very deep ruby magenta color. Black cherry, boysenberry, gooseberry, sweet tobacco, strawberry jelly, flour tortilla, and thyme. Dry palate, with pixelated acidity. Firm tannins on the longish finish.
This is a reliable, fruit forward, easy drinker. It improved over an hour of drinking.
Decanted half the bottle; after 75 mins theres jammy red and dark black fruit on the nose along with aged wood. Very sweet, fruit-driven and fairly light, tannins provide a polish to the finish which is concentrated front-palate.
Based on my last sampling in Dec, curious to see if this adds complexity with more air. At the moment this is fun and easy to drink as others note, but lacks both the structure to and and interest from depth/layering to score above 91-2.
Let's see if I can update this later on this evening.
Tasting with the winemaker, Kirk Venge. Dark ruby fruit -currants, dark cherry, and blackberry. Smooth mid-palate with decent depth/concentration for the price point - medium/medium plus body. Nice rich flavors of cassis, cocoa, and some spice. However, I thought the finish was somewhat lacking - fairly short/not much depth. The bottle was opened a couple hours before serving. As usual, a solid cab for the price point but I was hoping for the 94 rating from Dunnuck and in my opinion it was closer to the 92 rating from WA. Although it might of shown a little better by itself - it was over-shadowed by the 2019 Venge Reserve cab and 2021 Venge Ingenious cab. 95% cab sauvignon, 3% petit verdot, and 2% merlot.

Huge CT averages for this wine in every vintage. It tastes like a sweet candy shop—Sweet Tarts?—styled like every grocery store super Cab deemed worthy of an anti-theft neck lock. Imagine a company dinner at the all-American steakhouse chain and the sales director guy orders it with his well-done porterhouse, then passes a glass around the table, “Ya gotta try this!”
Had a bottle and a half of this one 2 nights ago and reported on it, at 94 near the end. Back under cork at room temp til now and.....wow! No degradation at all. Maybe a tad more refined, rich cassis and sweet tobacco and 'together' but it's supple and smooth and so damn good! The only thing that stops this wine from scoring higher is, it is so drinkable now and the fruit is so max'd out now as far as what depth and layers it is able to give, I just don't think it can go any higher.

Pnp'd a bottle of this to go with pizza tonight. Carol and I blew through it so quickly it was inevitable that we open a 2nd one......this is juicy, energetic red/black fruit. Kirk Venge has crafted another early drinking masterpiece. Is it deep? No. Is it a 100 pointer? No. But pound for pound it is one of THE most enjoyable drinking Napa wines out there, today. Classic cab nose and flavor profile. Sweet cassis, ripe blackberries, too. Tannins are present but mostly round and sweet. An hour of air smooths it out even further....moving towards a 94, easily. You know, sometimes one needs to forget what the critics say, or what the score was, how much you paid for it, or which pedigreed vineyard it came from.....and just enjoy a wine for what it is! Drink things you like, that are fun, that hit your 'sweet spot' regardless of price or pedigree or what your friends may think.
One hour decant. Deep dark electric magenta color. Blackberry, Dove dark chocolate, Earl Grey tea, and funnel cake on the nose. Smooth, tongue drying palate. Firm tannins on the longish finish.

Decanted for an hour then rebottled to bring to a restaurant. Ripe blackberries and crushed gravel on the nose, the wine has added weight and become an more syrupy than our first tastes nearly 3 hrs ago.
This is very smooth while enveloping the entire palate, a nice balance of youthful, ripe fruit beneath hefty yet refined tannins. This is a solid wine punching well ahead of its $52 s/t sale price with room to add 1-2 pts over time.
Not sure this is for long term aging, but I easily see this providing solid enjoyment over the next 5 years.

Three hour slow ox. Deep dark magenta color. Blackberry, vanilla bean, fig-infused chocolate, bing cherry pie, and subtle caramel on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with cottony acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
Terrific QPR. My score has a one point value bonus built in .
Dark ruby and purple color. Blueberry, blackberry, and alcohol on the nose. Dark cherry, blackberry, hint of cocoa, oaky and strong tannins on the finish which is about 35-37 sec. Definitely better with air, decanting for 1-2 hrs or slow ox over several days. QPR is nice but I did have a tough headache the next day each time, not sure if due to preservatives?

Brought to Edwin’s palace by cpa Peter for our last night dinner and post-dinner. On the nose and palate, vibrant notes of dark berries, cassis, wet earth, oak, vanilla, molasses, anise, baking spice and graphite. Intense, deep purple, full-bodied, medium to thick legs. Medium++ acidity, medium tannins, and surprisingly and pleasantly, no heat. Good complexity, VG intensity and persistence. Well, this was done as a blind tasting, and particularly because of the BDX the night before (slightly mitigated by the Amarone), this screamed young, modern Napa (I said a CS ‘16 on). My experiences with the House of Venge are mixed, skewing highly negative when not seriously aerated, with booziness, sweetness, oakiness and vanilla overpowering the often delicious and concentrated fruit, tipping well over to the point of extraction (which I don’t use as a compliment, although I know others feel differently). While this was certainly tilting toward the sweet, for whatever reason, the other less desirable attributes didn’t overwhelm me as they did with the ‘15 vintage. The sweetness blew off a bit during the hour+ we had this open, but I can’t imagine that this wine is anyone’s idea of either rustic on the one hand nor elegant on the other. Fun as the occasional cocktail wine for me, this pretty much overwhelms food, although there’s decent acidity here, unlike the ‘15. I’ve commented elsewhere, probably to the point where others are starting to block my feed on CT, that I tend to gravitate most toward Napa Cabs with a more Old World feel, and BDXs which skew toward the modern (or perhaps best of all, the Golden Mean, in this as in so many other things, from the golden sands from the Land of the Boot), and while I was happy to drain my glass—at least not one of those situations where I was looking for a potted plant—not something I’d seek to buy, and for me, uncomfortably close to the dreaded Caymus. We drank this as a PnP, and it’s definitely possible that more air or bottle age would, while not making this anything someone would confuse with Laurel Glen, not quite as far at its current end of the spectrum, but that science experiment will have to be done on someone else’s dime as I find the qpr uninspiring. Still, with this being a cut above what I expected, it lessens my dread for the Mike Smith bottlings I have sitting around at about this price point which I’ve been dreading popping and for which I, as I often seem to do with Venge, seem to bring down the curve. 89-90
this was the backup bottle, at a neighborhood wedding, stashed away for private consumption. unfortunately, I told my adult kids about this, (should have brought a third). balanced, smooth, full bodied, delicious. A terrific blend of 11 different napa vineyards, built for early drinking. Consistently good, is the best descriptor. 2020 is the first vintage I have skipped, I have loaded up on the 19s, which are still readily available, instead
Two hour slow ox, followed by splash decant. Deep dark electric magenta color. Raspberry jelly, blueberry cream cheese, maple donut, daisies, damp slate, and subtle spent coffee grounds on the nose. Smooth, dry, full bodied palate. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
This is absolutely drinking in prime time. Almost gave it 95 points for value. This might be the best QPR out there at the moment, displacing Judge Palmer.

Several hour slow ox. Deep dark electric magenta color. Blueberry pie, blackberry, candle wax, and subtle mint on the nose. Smooth, dry palate, with slightly cottony acidity. Firm, full tannins on the longish finish.
I never want to enjoy this as much as I do, but this entry-level bottling is a great drinker. Venge’s style drifts toward extraction and it’s not my favorite, but Silencieux always strikes a good balance between fruit forwardness, complexity, and structure. There’s not much better for the price. I tend to like this more than his more expensive Cabs. I like his work for Trespass and B Cellars as well.
Lush red and black fruited. Hints of crushed rocks, wet road, vanilla spices and soft oak. Amazing QPR! Got this for 40$ but I think the price is going up now.

"Host said this is an amalgamation of Cabs purchased from families that own between 1-4 acres of CS but still produce high quality fruit. This is evident in the glass. This cab means business. Serious structure holding and elevating the fruit. More in the red spectrum with plenty of acid and tannin. Drinks well right now but give this a few years to crack open."

Menu decanted. Very very deep ruby magenta color. Black cherry danish, black currant, crushed walnuts, and subtle cocoa on the fruity, dirty, youthful nose. Dry, velvety palate, with good acidity. Full, taut tannins on the longish finish.
My score is partly based on potential. This needs one more year in the cellar to really shine. All the raw materials are there.
Napa Fall 2021; 11/17/2021-11/21/2021 (Napa): My favorite Silencieux to date, taking the honor from the excellent 2015. Have always thought this bottle punches way above its weight and at ~$50 is one of the best QPR in the valley. The 2019 manages to take it up a notch with depth, complexity and roundness usually found in labels well above $100
Very young. Just bottled few months back. Popped and poured. Red fruited and barnyard funk. Slowly sipped for 3 hours, gained some complexity and weight. Added some dark cherries, plums and crushed stones. Nice Juicy entry with dry finish! Cheers 🍷
This opaque crimson blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Merlot is a full-bodied, lucious, hedonistic fruit bomb that is hard to resist. Black currants, dark bramble fruits, Morello cherries, baking spices and savory herbs are framed with low-to-medium acidity, ripe tannins, well-integrated alcohol (14.9%) and a generous aliquot of creamy oak. Solid in the middle and lengthy on the back end, it is already drinkable and will continue to provide pleasure for many more years. This particular bottle showed its best after 60-90 minutes of aeration. Drink now-2034.

Lots of red and black fruit up front, not much in the way of acidity, with relatively little tannic structure. This is an immediately approachable wine, which will also probably benefit from a few years in the cellar to allow some of the over-the-top fruit to settle down.

Musky leathery nose. We opened this bottle early due to potential damage in a long shipment snafu. Surprisingly drinkable and well balanced at this young age. Well balanced and not as fruity as I would have expected but does have big fruit. Not sure about aging potential but drinking great now

Menu decant. Very deep ruby magenta color. Charred graham cracker, blueberry, cream cheese, and wild flower perfume on the nose. Smooth, tongue drying palate. Full tannins on the longish finish. Awesome QPR here.
This has taken a nice step forward since my last bottle a few months ago.

Soul-searching in Napa. Beta-Jasud, Roy Piper, Detert, Elyse, Diamond Creek, Favia, Opus, Gargiulo, among others!; 1/17/2022-1/22/2022: As part of a tasting at Venge, brief notes.

A good middle of the week type of Cabernet that needs more time to develop. 90-91 Points

Medium leathery nose. Very approachable despite its youth. Big and well balanced with nice fruit and soft tannins.

Very young. Just bottled few months back. Popped and poured. Red fruited and barnyard funk. Slowly sipped for 3 hours, gained some complexity and weight. Added some dark cherries, plums and crushed stones. Nice Juicy entry with dry finish! Cheers 🍷

Glad I bought a whole case. Fruit bomb, ripe tannins, a hint of oak. Going to continue to improve.

This is an immediately approachable wine, which will also probably benefit from a few years in the cellar to allow some of the over-the-top fruit to settle down.

had to try one out of the gate and surprisingly approachable this young. Not as big of fruit as I have come to expect from Venge. very nice wine. We will hold on drinking more until well into 2022 and beyond.

Musky leathery nose. We opened this bottle early due to potential damage in a long shipment snafu. Surprisingly drinkable and well balanced at this young age. Well balanced and not as fruity as I would have expected but does have big fruit. Not sure about aging potential but drinking great now
