Enjoyed with spaghettini, this poured light to medium body, lots of florals and feminine notes in the nose - some interesting secondaries I can't quite classify - almost antiseptic/medicineal in a good way. Lively and fresh acidity, with some tannin still. Not much sweet fruit, but enough to keep it somewhat in balance. Will put under vacuvin for a day and see what happens and update more. Looking back at the Parker note from 2001, I have no idea what wine he was writing about, because this seems so far off from that note....I suppose that type of evolution is possible, but I can't say because I didn't try this in its youth.

Smells of chestnuts, dried fig, grilled meats and dark chocolate. The palate is full, round and glossy. There's plenty of mocha/chocolate notes and a jube-like quality to the fruit. It gets more savoury with air and tannins are relatively plump yet the wine has freshness.

Quite distant upon opening. What nose there was was quite mineral absent of any fruit. BUT WAIT....it was 2 hrs from heaven. The seas part and sky opened. spectacular nose of violet and cherry. Echoing off the pallet. Thoroughly barolo

no formal note. good barolo, i suspect this will continue to age nicely for some time. would be interesting to retry this in 5-10 years, as there is still a good amount of fruit and tannin left in the wine.

Dark garnet colour. Aromas of wild strawberries, blackberry, black licorice, alcohol, black plums, earth, and a hint of tar. Medium-full bodied, juicy, with bright fruit - cherry, currant, strawberry, and plums. Tannins present, but have softened nicely. Also shows a hint of spice. Moderate finish, ~35s, with currant, cherry, plums, and earth. Still primary, but drinking nicely. Well done. Drink now-2015.

A night of wines that DONT SUCK :) (Inside): took about 2 hours to open - but when it did! tons of beautifull cherry fruit - huge wine with lots of power that will age effortlessly. yum! i would not open another for 5 years at least. This is something i will look for.

"Wines of Argentina 2005" Dinner (Inside): Medium ruby color with a slightly tawny edge. This wasn't showing much to me tonight -- VERY reticent nose of tart black fruits; the acidity in this wine will doubtless make it very good with food.

This bottle turned up in a cellar reorganization. I have no idea where it came from as it's pre-CellarTracker!.
Dark, clear ruby in color. The first aromas to emerge out of the decanter were violets, earth and a bit of pepper. The taste revealed black cherry, earth, tar and finally a truffle note. It had a penetrating, aromatic finish with more violets and a spicy component from the oak. It was balanced with the tannins evident and a fair amount of glycerin.
If I had more of these I would hold short-term (2-5 years). This wine did not seem like one of the very long-lived Barolos.
[$?; 13.5% alcohol (no way..); Decanted 1.5 hours; Served with homemade beef ravioli]

Brick red. Lots of secondary flavors, tobacco, anise, soft mature tannins, and red currants.
