Wow is this freshly mowed lawn ........ grassy nose and flavors. I feel that I am on a meadow in New Zealand. So interesting and unique a wine. Many will hate and then there is me who finds beauty in these lesser priced consumer wines. Lovely for the price.
Pale lemon in colour with aromas of lemon grass, green herbs & slate. On the palate, light to medium bodied citrus, lemon/lime, jalapeño, green herbs, lemon grass, green bell pepper, somewhat floral, high acidity with a long finish to a spicy, saline, chalky minerality. Tastes like a pretty typical Marlborough Sauv but perhaps a little spicier. Not getting the tropical fruit notes that other tasters have mentioned.

For a wine that I haven’t tried (apparently) since the 2015 vintage, it is all too familiar and given the production, continues to be a rather impressive effort. Now, I’m not sure about the value against KC, Mohua and others in the $12-15 range but I do like this one better.

100% sauvignon blanc. Very pale straw yellor, almost translucent. Intense aromas of passionfruit, grapefuit, herbaceous notes. On the palate, medium bodied, passionfruit and grapefruits, crispy, fresh, mineral, long lingering finish. This is an outstanding Sauvignon Blanc and one my favorite as well. 13,5% ABV

Interesting colour - it almost has the blush of Pinot Gris. Sure Sauvignon on the nose however, showing vibrant grapefruit, grass, papaya, green capsicum and tart apple. Same on the palate, with gorgeous acidity bringing freshness. Decent finish too.

A private dinner (Ristorante La Ciau del Tornavento *, Treiso, Italy): I asked for a glass of white wine to accompany our shrimp starters, and I was flabbergasted to be offered this New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc in a Michelin starred restaurant in Piemonte?!? But never mind. It had a classical Marlborough character, tropical fruit and grass, smooth and silky, civilised, nothing exaggerated.

As always, a cut above the rest, with lifted aromatics (citrus, grapefruit, cut grass), crisp and slightly acidic across the palate, and that zippy zing that characterizes the appellation. Rarely disappoints, and (as others have noted) worth the higher price.

In didn't remember Cloudy Bay really separating itself from the common Marlborough SBs, but it does. It's just more refined. You get melon, not you're not eating one. You get citrus but it's essence not overpowering. It's worth the step up in price.

Very pale color. Lovely nose. Extremely fresh and lifted. Green Mango, grapefruit, gooseberry and mineral edge. Slightly reductive and grassy with a hint of fresh celery. The palate has a rich entry with lovely acidity that provides a wonderful backbone. Nice weight and flavor. Lovely gooseberry and celery. Hint of lemon. Delightful NZ Sauvignon Blanc and a true representation of the region and style.

On the nose, gooseberry, fresh cut grass, some peach. On the palate, a nice medium + zippy acidity that carries the fruit throughout the palate. The fruit is also in great balance and the palate is surprisingly long. Might be lacking a bit of minerality, but still this best NZ SB I've had to date. (Please comment if you have a better one)

Not decanted in fridge, a screw cap seal, tasted well chilled.
N....fresh nose of lovely rich fruit (tropicals with a lemon whiff, some gooseberry too), some capsicum, not super-intense.
C....pale straw, not much colour at all, looks solid medium-bodied.
T....flavours medium+ intensity but there's an elegance in this 2021 I don't remember in some recent vintages; a nice mineral profile (wet stones); lovely tropical fruit (passionfruit/nectarine/ripe juicy lemon); good concentration but the elegance and a balance remains.
VFMoney?....costs £22.99 and feels every bit worth that, though at that price I have to admit it isn't an outright bargain.

I have tasted recent vintages of this wine, and the 2021 caught me off-guard. Not that it’s a bad wine, it was just more typical of Old World Sauvignon Blanc. The grassy notes are much more prevelant in this vintage, as is the cat pee. Still a solid one, as long as one understand it’s not the typical Cloudy Bay (at least for the past 4-5 vintages).

A really good representation of the "not subtle" Sauvignon Blanc from Marlborough, NZ. Slo-oxed for 10 minutes. Aromas of cut grass and grapefruit. At open, I got a bit pungent gasoline on the nose. After some air, it’s softer. A lot of cucumber on the nose. Typical lemon cucumber peach honey on the palate. I liked it not too sweet comparing to other New Zealand Sauvignon blanc. However, it’s baffling for me that the high rating it received. I am more leaning towards Loire Valley wines

First one of these for a while - pleasant to see for under 20 quid in costco in the UK. Pale straw colour, very fragrant with nettles, gooseberry and apple on the nose, juicy, very vibrant on the palate, more crisp apple, gooseberry and lemon/lime fruit. Really delicious. Best CB for a long time.

Incredibly precise, multi-layered, and concentrated. It’s a gorgeous wine with such immense flavour and length. Crisp enough for drinking cold on a hot day, yet with such structure and complexity to complement food. One of the best vintages yet.

Very pale yellow color with excellent clarity. No doubt, this is a NZ Sauvignon Blanc! Distinct aromas of grapefruit, pineapple, and “cat pee” leap into the nose (give it a minute or two to soften). Fruit-forward pineapple and grapefruit flavors, with bright minerality on the palate. Crisp, refreshing mouthfeel. Pleasingly long finish.

Night of Sauvignon Blanc with Lianzijia (Newmarket, Auckland): open and concentrated aromas: ripe tropical, passionfruit, white peach, lime hints. citrus dominating palate, pungent acidity, underlying ripe nectarine with white florals. some mineral and sea salt in finish, adding one more layer on the complexity.

Two bottles drank in 24 hours. Nothing special…. not even good by NZ standards. Bland and uninteresting. Each vintage seems to get more anodyne. A triumph of branding and marketing over basic product quality. Totally not worth its price even at US$30 retail, let alone in a restaurant. Babich at around US$12 is a much better wine, or going a step up but still cheaper would be Dog Point (who used to sell their grapes to Cloudy Bay back when it was good. 85-86

A 2021?...already? On nose: white peach, grapefruit , and a ghost of jalapeno pepper. On palate: all above flavours amplified, right out of the starting gate....as it warms up, faint parsnip and lemon curd , with a note of fresh tarragon....this was clearly meant to be drunk, young and fresh....consistently satisfying , year after year....clean acidity and medium body weight make this a go to wine for Salmon or Dover Sole.
Cloudy Bay is consistently a great example of Sauvignon Blanc. I've bene drinking this for almost 30 years.
Pale straw colored, yellow tropical fruit on the nose, grassy notes, some gooseberry but not the most pungent, good acidity, all in all a very balanced, excellent example of Marlborough sauvignon blanc.
I tasted this alongside the 2021 Ten Sisters sauv blanc and the 2021 Babich Black Label sauv blanc. The Cloudy Bay was the nicest.

Rien d'incroyable

Its colour is light gold, it smells a little bit greenery. A paleate is very gorgeous. It is a king of Sauvignon Blanc!!

Ap 5/5, Ar 13/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 5+2/10

Two bottles drank in 24 hours. Nothing special…. not even good by NZ standards. Bland and uninteresting. Each vintage seems to get more anodyne. A triumph of branding and marketing over basic product quality. Totally not worth its price even at US$30 retail, let alone in a restaurant. Babich at around US$12 is a much better wine, or going a step up but still cheaper would be Dog Point (who used to sell their grapes to Cloudy Bay back when it was good. 85-86

Stikkelsbær. Tropisk fukt og grønt gress. Saftig frukt med godt syrenivå. God konsentrasjon og syrlig utgang.
Til blåskjell.

Eðalklúbbur, vínsmakk #3 vor 2022 (Marbakkabraut 12): Pinot glas: Greip en daufara í þessu glasi. Svo rúnnaðra, þyngra og væmnara á tungunni í þessu glasi.
Chardonnay glas: Kattarhland sem breyttist svo hratt yfir í greip. Ferskara og fókuseraðra á tungunni. Dálítið yfirdrifið samt.
