AW90. Initial burst of bright cherry flavour and a great, classic tuscan nose. But trails off a little in the glass, becoming more muted. I'm sure it's a little too young and deserves another decade, but it is approachable now with a short decant.

Always good value at around 40 eur. Rich fruity plums and cherry 🍒 kirsch from the ripe vintage. Smells like Tuscany . Enjoy now. I would not sit on this vintage (other years age gracefully, but I don’t see the point for this vintage). Great upon opening after two hours and the next day. A quarter serious and three quarter fun fruit.

Looking at the other notes I noticed the “pleasant” descriptor. I think this is about right. It’s enjoyable and easy to drink but a bit non descript. Seems more on modern side, not sure what this will develop into but fine to drink now.

2020 seems young, but this is already quite enjoyable in 2023. Dark red with lots of berries and hints of cherry in the nose. On the palate it adds hints of vanilla, tobacco and some leather. Quite some value for the money and definitely more than "just a second wine".

This young Super Tuscan is the little brother to Sassicaia. With ample decanting time (2+ hours), this had the best chance given it is a 2020.
Robust notes of dark fruit, plum, cassis, and oak. Subtle secondary notes of new leather, tobacco, and vanilla. Pleasant finish.
Med+ bodied, dry, youthful tannins and slightly hot. This needed the air time which really allowed it to express the secondary flavors. This has significant aging potential and I am glad to have a few more sleeping. Would sip again.

Tuscan WIMPS (La Trompette): Upright, clean and well-made but possibly lacking some personality. Dark red, blue fruit, the oak is still fresh and waiting to integrate with some prominent vanilla and spice notes. No heavyweight but has depth, concentration. It's Nice Wine - but also so what if there's no sense of place?

This was a knockout at this price point. Fruit forward without being ripe, the oak treatment frames this wine beautifully. Balanced with fine tannins. Came out firing on all cylinders following pnp. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot. 92+ with lots of upside.

Fresh red and blue fruits, oak, vanilla and spices. An incredibly well-balanced wine. World-class acidity combined with silky smooth tannins in perfect harmony. The oak is beautifully integrated, and the entire package has a nice structure. The high acidity, along with the youthful fruit, leads me to suspect that this wine will age well in the cellar. Top-class.

Come on man, this has no business being this good at this price point. I paid under $40 for this and would easily pay $40 for a glass at a nice restaurant. You get exactly what you want from a super Tuscan—bold fruit, tannin, and some acid. But it’s rounded out so neatly you forgot the slight acid on the sides of your tongue. Needed a good hour+ in the decanter but really good.

Gave this a 2hr decant and that took care of any residual tannins. I like this as an alternative to US BDX blends with its heightened acidity giving it a more svelte & fresh feel for a powerful red. This was quite aromatic from the get go. I have one more that I'll likely drink within the next 5 years. I've never been willing to spend much on Super Tuscans. Preferring traditional Italian grapes instead but I like the "bang for the buck" this offered at $40 online and the Italian terroir twist on Cab/Merlot blends. 91+

Deep, dark reddish-purple in color bordering on opaque. Full, forward & aromatic nose of dark fruit aromas of red cherries, blueberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty, some floral & herbal notes, spices, minerals & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium-deep bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, ripe fruit flavors of cherries, blueberries & plums with spices, herbs & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & airing & may develop slightly further with several more years of additional aging.

Nice wine. On the younger side now, but drinkable with a healthy decant (improved up until the 4 hour mark). Mix of black (Black current, plum) and red (raspberry) fruits. Some smoke & tobacco. Fruit really leads the way now.
Tannins are grippy and there’s medium plus acidity, so betting it’ll improve and add complexity with 3-4 years of age.
Solid Bordeaux blend from a great producer.

Decanted a portion and opened over 2 hrs. Corked the rest and tried at 24, 48 hrs after decanting again. Pretty similar each time, although perhaps best at 24 hrs. Deep ruby color. Cherry, raspberry, a little oaky vanilla on the nose. Blackberry, red cassis and some tartness with hint of vanilla on the palate, with about 35 sec finish. Decent food pairing wine with a variety of pastas. Probably would be more interesting with a lot more age. I can’t help but think this is a Robert Parker-ized Italian however…

Had this at a Bacchus blind tasting and failed to identify it. Dark ruby colour with a thin rim and sweet nose of menthol, alcohol and then in the background plum and blackberry. The palate is ripe with plum, black and red fruit, full bodied, good grip and very long finish. All the essential ingredients for a great wine but way to primary to drink now.

My method for tasting wine these days is to decant for three hours and then to sip over a three day period. I had high hopes for this wine, but I was somewhat disappointed. My Guidalberto has a very nice color, and a strong nose. It is unfortunately a bit dull in the glass. I did not sense any improvement over the three days that I tasted it, and I do not foresee any room for improvement.

Lovely blend of red and black fruit with herbal undertones. I like and am frankly surprised by the restraint here. It shows plenty of structure from both tannin and acidity, with nothing overdone at all. More please!

Lay & Wheeler Italy Growers' Tasting: Brief notes: Aromas of black fruits, a touch of freshly brewed coffee and vanilla. Supple and vibrant on the palate. Really rounds out in the middle. Spicy and grip. Tobacco on finish.

A 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that is fresh, yet seems shy with crushed dark red berry, currant, and cassis aromas with savoury undertones. It’s medium-full bodied on the crunchy palate with tight tannins. Very nice aroma replays on the flavour profile are joined by licorice, and wild herbs. It has fresh acidity and excellent length on the long, balanced, finish. Still a bit young and should age nicely up to a decade from now.
