Rich tobacco earth nose - opaque - palate less enrapturing than nose would promise being medium in weight - overnight the wine maintained and perhaps even grew a little bit - definitely an overachieving Loire CF though not Rougeard yet in pricing.

Red fruit, violets, redcurrant, raspberry as well as some slight spiciness, blood and oak spice on the nose. The light to medium-bodied palate brings in some more cool red fruit as well as decent acidity. Fine-grained tannins and long finish, tapering towards red berries. Fresh, harmonious and restrained, drinkable now but will probably still improve. The 12.5% ABV is a delight, especially given the vintage.

youthfull as noticed by others, lush red fruits linger and end in an integrated and rounded set of tannines. Good freshness. After an hour or so the wine started showing more depth and complexity but this is far from its plateau, you can feel the tension and bright future in there. Combined with grilled poussin with Morilles sauce. Match in heaven.

from magnum. moderate depth of color, youthful appearance. on the nose super primary and not a lot of complexity going on. didn't pick up new oak on it or strong pyrazines. on the palate the wine shows a lot of quality with high acids transitioning into a fleshy midpalate transitioning into firm but integrated chalky tannins. wine were texture is everything... time will tell if this blows up complexity wise but if not it will likely have beautiful textural balance for a decade or two in this format

This wine was young and primary but it has a lot of stuffing and its future is bright. It was fun to dig into it a bit and find the quality Cab Franc behind it. Hold.

young and rather primary, gorgeous ripe fruit, fresh and lively but at the same time quite dense, verging on full-bodied, this needs many years to show all its powers, but the purity and intensity is a pleasure right now...

A better known vineyard for whites but this red is just lovely if you like taut, succulent, minerally Cabernet Franc. A bit of age has softened this just enough so it's drinking beautifully now with some mature notes of herbs, tobacco and spiced earth. Vibrant acidity remains to keep it fresh and lively and great with food. Just kept getting better and more complex throughout the evening, Delicious juice.

This is a gorgeous Loire red with juicy and succulent red fruits along with notes of fine tobacco and forest floor. Becoming savory and even meaty with air with an excellent cut of acidity and superb precision. The finish is taut and grippy with lingering flavors of minerals and dark cherry spice. Drinking so well right now.

Uncorked and épaulée for 3 hours. I kept checking on the initial glass I poured after opening over those 3 hours. The fruit stayed a little muted so I decanted about 30 minutes before service. That did wonders. Nice nose of ripe cherries but then the savoury streak hits you: roasted vegetables, herbs, earth and a hint of red meat. It has that sweet/savoury combo on the nose. Not too ripe at all on the palate: medium body, clean red berries, the same enticing savoury components as the nose and a nice crushed stones finish. The fine tanins are sneaky and do hit you a little on the finish. Beautiful acidity holding this all together from beginning to end. I like this. This could go awhile and I'd love to see those tanins mellow out a little. Next one in 3 to 5 years.

Beautifully refined and complex Chinon with delicious dark cherry and blue fruits along with succulent acidity and a perfect hint of green. More on the lean side but very precise with a fine, silty texture. The finish is taut and crunchy showing wonderful notes of cherry spice and crystalline minerals. Lovely stuff but needs a bit of time to fully develop. 92+

Mid ruby. Intermixing herbaceous spices and sweet spices, just ripe red berries, wiod cherries, chocolate, toasty cedary oak, tarry minerality and some leather.
Medium body. With precise and elegant mid palate, which leads to a satisfying finish with notes of game, dusty amd nutty developments, all supported by a mouth watering long acid line. 12.5%abv.
A stunner.

I have not had this in close to a year, but it's so lovely...I really wish I had bought more. I am drinking this from a Grassl Liberté glass and the wine has been open about one hour. A bright ruby in the glass with scents of red fruits, earth, and leather. The palate is lean, focused, and full of bright high-toned red & black fruits that linger on the finish. Outstanding!!

Au restaurant, pas de notes formelles. Magnifique couleur et magnifique vin, dans un millésime de chaleur, il a conservé une belle fraîcheur. Tiendra sans doute 15 ans.

New Saumur Releases from Romain Guiberteau (Dig Wines, San Francisco): Light ruby color. After a burst of berry fruit, very much a classic Loire Cab Franc bouquet of dill. Leaner than the younger reds, grainy, tannic, and full of soil. Dry impression and pretty tough going. Will aging improve this or just render it even more lean and austere?

Really, really good. Pure and reserved, but full of energy. Tart wild blueberries, blackberries, dark cherries, smokey minerals, graphite, hints of roasted meat and veggies, white flowers. Rich and full, with acid for days and super fine filigree tannins. I love how even from warm vintages, Loire Valley wines can still have fiery acidity. Plush and refreshing through one of the most beautiful Cab Franc finishes. Young. Would save for at least 5 years before even hoping for some development.
