Il ne reste pas grand fruit ici, un peu mince. Surtout des feuilles de l'humus et des champignons. Un petit fond de cerise, des tanins fondus et pas de finale. Sur sa pente descendante cette bouteille malheureusement.

Really enjoyed this wine. The balance between the fruit, tannin and acidity was as good as I could expect. Drinking really well right now. I wish I had a case to enjoy - this would compete with some of the marquee names from Margaret River at a significant discount.

Pleasant wine, but lacks fruit. What fruit there is black fruits, with some plum. There is also some earth, cloves and tobacco. Medium bodied with grippy tannins. I can't that this will get better, and suspect that it is on the downward slope.

Some barnyard funk. Diminished fruit, but still in balance with oak and smooth tannins and savoury flavours. At its peak, or on its downward path. Drink now or soon IMHO.

This time I decanted it and let it sit for 2 hours, then served at 17 degrees; it was much more expressive than last time. The fruit was very present, although it was a bit unbalanced, lacking acidity and a bit overpowered by the alcohol. Like the last bottle, there was quite a bit of tannins so it definitely benefited from decanting and a soft aeration.

Brick/brown color with some sediment. Cola, dried fruit, and cedar on the nose. Watery palate with continued dried fruit. Finishes flat, but with nice, chalky tannins. Overall very nice, but I wonder whether further aging will be a benefit. I would drink now. The wine I tasted was decanted—I'm not sure it should have been.

Nose: dirty Palate: alcoholic, dry, fruity, cherry/raspberry, tobacco, brown spices. After 1/2 hour it had a fresh strawberry flavor, spicy, plum, a bit thin, a bit herbal. I felt that it was disjointed.

Blackcurrants; oak; and tannin, all starting to integrate nicely. Fairly uncomplicated but good St Estephe starting to drink nicely. Drink now or hold, it has a good few years ahead of it.

Like this quite a bit. Notes of cedar and tobacco. A hint of pencil lead near the back end, medium length. I was expecting something younger, harder to approach but this is drinking very well right now. Tannins are present without being dry. Good QPR from a great vintage.

More developed since 6/10. Classic St. Estephe, raspberries and earth on nose. Oak has receded. Moderate red and black fruits on palate with some tobacco hints. Firm finish.

Decanted for one hour. Slightly corked upon opening but cleared off almost completely afterwards. Clear red with a purple hue, some sediment. Warm and open on the nose with aromas of cassis, kirsch, earth, spices and oak. Decently balanced but still surprisingly tannic on the palate. Cassis and oak linger on the long finish. A decent wine but in this case it seemed unlikely to benefit from further cellaring. 89+/-

Decanted for one hour. Clear dark red with a purple hue, some sediment. Open on the nose with cassis, iron, spices and dusty oak. On the palate it's pure and quite nicely balanced, the tannins still dominate the overall impression. Decent value for the '05 prices, should improve from a few years of cellaring. 89+

Poured through the Vinturi into a decanter 2 hours prior to serving. Still tannic, little fruit, opened up a bit more over the course of the evening, but I did not really get much out of it.

Nice raspberries and vanilla coffee notes on the nose. Tannins have really started to melt away. Nice red berry fruit with notes of bark, dried plums and just a touch of spice. Medium bodied with good finish. I thought this Beau Site vintage would take longer to mature. Traditional classic Bordeaux and great value.

Decanted for 2 hours. The wine has very good nose and showed rich and concentrated plum, dense spices, sweet herbs and refreshing black fruit. Unfortunately. its palate didn't quite match its interesting nose. On the palate, the wine is a bit short and thin with medium and fine tannins. Just an acceptable wine to me.

For a 2005, this didn't do much for me. Last night the tannins were still a little too sharp and tonight they have softened but there isn't a lot to it. Not a good value for approx $31

Cassis and blackberry on the pretty intense nose with some tobacco and spicy oak. Fullbodied and robust palate with tight ripe tannins. Sweetish and ripe dark fruit. Oak seems proportioned. Long but tight finish with strong pencil shaving character. Nice classy enough style. But this sure needs age, both for the grip to loosen and for the aromatics to open up.

Inviting nose of cassis, plum, and spicy oak. Abundant, elegant flavors of cassis, blueberry, plum, oak, cedar, and some earthy tannins. Very tasty. Well-balanced, long finish.

On the nose, I can pick up definite cabernet sauvignon and merlot, with some franc and petit verdot mixed in. Also on the nose is a hint of chalky cellar dust and incense. The palate is a bit drying, with square tannins that somehow remain silky, with dried red berries and cherries, and a decent 20 second finish. 3 or more years in the cellar from now will likely soften this wine and push it into ~90 point territory.

Decanted for four hours. Purple, not overwhelmingly dark. Dark fruit, ink, tobacco and earth on the nose. Pleasant basic bordeuax with ok tannins and fruit, but not enough depth or nuances to be of real interest. The finish is a bit oaky and hollow.

Dark ruby in the glass, medium bodied, with crisp acidity and fairly smooth tannins. Cassis and mint on the pleasant but not overwhelming nose. On the palate, more fruit throughout, with earthy notes, and black pepper. Really nice cassis on the very long finish.

Nice wine, opened and decanted for one hour. Nice dark fruit aroma, not as concentrated or rich on the palate as some but good tannins and slightly stewed finish but long. No need to drink these early, I will wait 4 or 5 years on the others.

BORDEAUX 2005 / Cabernet rules; 4/5/2006-4/10/2006 (Bordeaux): Probably the best St. Estephe I tasted outside the two stars (alas, I did not get a chance to taste Calon Segur, the well-known 3rd growth). A nice cassis nose precedes a fruity strawberry palate. A nice feel on the palate, with integrated tannins. Also, a very good price/quality ratio. 91-92

Very tannic yet without much length on the palate. A deep aeration got some of the harshness out but the more subtle flavours got away as well.
This would probably have been better a couple of years ago, it's pretty much on its last legs in terms of the more complex flavours.
