  • Very atypical, concentrated and earthy for the first two days. The fruit starts to shine on day three. Somewhat natural winemaking.

  • Decanted ~3 hours prior to serving and in need of every minute of it. Poured into Grassl Libertes. As with the other bottles of Cassiopee I've opened, this smelled pretty foul on opening. Fortunately, that reduction blew off with time open. Made in a light, transparent style with a powerful, spicy nose. A bit barnyard-y, but in a dose that adds interest and doesn't distract. Bright, dense, tart red fruit on the palate. I think this needs a few years to resolve a bit.

  • Slightly darker but also much more approachable compared to the 2021 with lush and lively red fruit, flowers, perfume and soft and silky tannins. Once again, the old wines provide depth and interest. Uber delicious now, but certainly also a wine for the cellar.

  • Fresh. Exciting. Delicious. A Maranges? Yes, even with a residual funk that marks its terroir, this new style wine making adds verve to the fruit-filled 2020 vintage. Recommended by the best somms in NYC. Let it breathe for 30 minutes and serve at low cellar temp. The nose is so demonstrative- tart cherry, cranberry, barnyard-- and the cross between Beaune Greves and Foillard /Bouland. Not feral but really full natural flavors, with dark cherry, horse scents, moist soil and lots of fun all woven together

  • 12.5% alcohol. Grippy tannins, some stable (perhaps a tad bretty), dark cherry, some rose, bright and refreshing acidity. Quite dense, with some grippy tannins and a medium+ length finish.

  • Started off very reduced and needed some air to self-correct. I splash decanted this a few times, then left the wine in the decanter for a half hour before consuming. Poured into Grassl Crus. Eventually, blueberries, smoke, rose water, and earth on the nose. More red fruited on the palate with good structure, but at this stage the nose is more engaging than the palate. Felt like this shut down a bit after a couple of hours. Will hold my other two bottles for a few years.

  • Darker scents of blue fruits bursting from the glass, denser and more structured than the preceding wines, tannic, long, excellent wine for the mid term, although this drank well today due to its inner energy. Excellent village punching well above its pedigree, highly recommended.

  • Decanted and consumed over 1 hour, continuously showing more depth and potential. Moderate aromas/flavors of fresh cherry, red and dark fruits, with a hint of smoky reduction. Medium body. Very fresh with moderate concentration that is nicely balanced by the acidity (I would not say this is concentrated). Lightly integrated tannins. Very easy to drink. Certainly some upside over the mid term. 92+

  • This will be better in 2+ years. Very concentrated, but accessible with some air.
Nose of dark berries, rose petal, leather.
Grippy tanins with cherry, ripe red berries.
    Great structure.
Can't wait to try more from these winemakers.

  • From a 1 acre parcel in Sampigny planted with 110 year old vines. Organic viticulture, 100% destemmed fruit. Cherry liqueur, flowers, peaches, so bright and joyful and playful, red and black berry fruit, silky and concentrated, elegant and structured, floral (roses) and lifted, exquisite purity of expression, ripe but firm tannins provide grip, tight finish, superb length. Needs a few years. Stunning quality for Maranges. At wijnbar Oocker, Amsterdam, NL.
