Very linear on the nose and palate, with strong chalky notes influenced by some vegetal and creamed corn aromas. Bristling with mineral and acidity, it really hits the midpalate and burns through to a moderate finish. Ok, but really needs food. Not sure if this will ever really flesh out.

BOB (Ramirez's): A great nose that smells like a fresh spring rain. Lime and cream. And a touch of nuttiness. Creamy lime flavors on the palate with solid acidity. Some nutty and yeasty characteristics. Long, long finish that has a touch of white pepper. Great wine.

This didn't show well. May have been corked (I have zero TCA sensitivity) but it's also a screw cap. Lots of spritz the first day I opened it. Not much else. The second day it was an alcoholic mess. I think I tasted it at an Age of Riesling tasting and it was fine then, but not this one. A Terry Thiese Import. (I pulled it in honor of becoming a fan of Terry Thiese wines on Facebook).

I think that upon tasting this wine at a hinterland staff outting in lake park, sara nardi's decent into the darkness may have begun. as always such a lovely wine.

Good minerally nose with a hint of white pepper and an infusion of flowers. Ripe, peachy wine with more minerals and a hint of residual sweetness. Very flavourful.

Gruner Veltliner Tasting (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): biggest perfume yet. mineral, floral, and fruit all in there. white pepper spicy. green pea, fennel. much textural weight. persistant finish. harmonius, albeit difficult to separate this intertwined complexity.

Staff Tasting (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): pop and pour. creamy pineapple nose. bits of meringue on the palate. sweetness of cotton candy to the nose. touch of spice attached to the acidity. ben suggests it's arugula spice. oddly enough, after this bottle was open for two hours, i detect that cracked toast nuttiness, that led the last to be characterized as flawed. i love gruner.

Staff Tasting (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): this bottle has a toasted cracked nut/light popcorn to the nose. ben says flawed, so we open up another. i will revisit this later. let's just note that it's been open for about 2 hours.

Nose like a good sauvignon blanc - lemons, granny smith apples. Mouth feel is much rounder than a sauvignon blanc. Citrus is there on the initial taste, but rounder, riper. Still has a nice acidic backbone.

Powerful nose with lemon, tropical fruit, and peppery notes. In the mouth, an explosion of fruit, acidity, spiciness, and minerality, with a touch of sweetness. Long finish. Excellent wine.

As usual, I am hard pressed to find good descriptors for this varietal, but suffice it to say that it was terrific, with a piercing nose, really beautiful, full, round mouth feel, and a finish given focus by strong lemon acidity and minerality. Its mildly green flavor worked well with spring vegetables (fava beans and artichoke).

A perfect Grüner Veltliner from the loess soils of the Heiligenstein hill (bottom third). Vibrant green-yellow color. Extremely rich nose of white pepper, passion-fruit, fresh-cut pineapple and grapefruit. Very elegant taste with an excellent varietal expression ; spicy fruitiness, good extract and balance. A zingy acidity on the long finish. Fantastic QPR.
Zeer goede prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding.

Very interesting. Odd, piney, almost like a resiny Greek wine. Light, dry. Herbal, with good acid.

The nose is bacon fat soaked biscuits. The palate is rich and dense with the same salty, fatty biscuits coming through.
More fresh peapods or green beans later.
Notes: Blend of grapes from Heiligenstein. Biodynamic with native yeast.
