  • So fine and silky with great dark cherry fruit. Very streamlined and probably the youngest showing wine of the night and in need of more time for the complexity to develop further. Great lift from the juicy acidity and wonderful floral freshness. 95+

  • Salon Focofi Paris walkabout and dinner, so no detailed tasting notes. From MAG. This was still quite brooding and dense, not yet singing.

  • From magnum wonderful nose. Not fully following up with mid palette which is still a little muted. More time won’t hurt.

  • Had been saving this for my big birthday and it did not disappoint. Agree with all the rave recent notes by others on CT. This is classic Richebourg, firmly in its early drinking window and showing both balance and mid-level power. If slightly more restrained than DRC or Leroy, this restraint may well appeal to many drinkers. In fact the scores for this wine in 2002 on CT generally surpass those of other elite Richebourgs. If you want to show someone what all the fuss is about re Vosne Grand Cru from a very good year, you couldn't go wrong with this one.

  • Dinner with Charles M - Champagnes and Burgundies (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Explosive nose displaying unbelievably rich yet pure red fruit with a hint of black, strawberry jam, fresh strawberry, a hint of black cherry, light caramel, a hint of sous bois, Vosne spice, light caramel, sweet spices, animal and limestone mineral. Exceptional concentration, incredibly layered sweet opulent red fruit, rich and opulent but also pure and finely detailed, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a seamless long sweet red fruit driven finish with Vosne spice at the end. Although drinking beautifully, the 02 Richebourg can easily improve for a decade or more as there is abundant fruit.

  • Short note - Christmas eve.
    This wine is extraordinary!
Nose is filled with so many scents and expressions and just keeps shifting and open more and more layers as it warms up.
Dust, minerals (a whole Vosne stone quarrel!), underbrush, wild, animalistic, flowers, red ripe berries (strawberries and wild strawberries, ripe raspberries, red sweet cherries), Christmas spices and even more dust.
It just rinses over you, in wave after wave!
    Palate is equally extraordinary.
    Peacock tail, layers on layers.
Ripe raspberries, sweet strawberries, some hints of cranberries and rhubarb, spices, minerals.
    I could go on forever.
This is still a very young wine that will require more time before you will find tertiary flavors.
Everything is perfect in this great bottle of Richebourg, the balance, the depth the nose and the flavors.
The finish lingers forever and you just want to have more of it in large sips.
Fantastic fruit - a perfect wine!

  • A lost Friday afternoon gathering – Richebourg, Chablis, CDC and etc. (Blacksalt, Washington DC): The nose that expresses the first stage of youthful maturity. Expressive nose displaying perfectly ripe rich red fruit, strawberry concentrate, raspberry preserve, light caramel,, sap, a hint of Vosne spice, sweet spices, cedar, a hint of sous bois, iron and earth. Perfectly integrated youthful palate, layers upon layers of perfectly ripe concentrated red fruit, rich yet precise and fluid, medium acidity, earthy mineral and a long sweet red fruit driven finish with Vosne spice and sap at the end. Another decade of cellaring will be required for fully developed tertiary notes and sous bois. Already showing exceptional complexity, balance and harmony.

  • Blood and Iron aromatics. Mineral palate. This wine is consistently terrific.

  • Very similar to the bottle drunk in 2017. Animalistic. Jumping out of the glass for the first hour, then calmed down. I actually liked the initial personality best. A truly exciting wine.

  • JM shareholders. Beastial, meaty but very, very pure. Really light on its feet. Cracking prototypical Riche.

  • Had this side by side a DRC Echezeaux 98. Great pair. The Meo Richebourg displayed a magical nose of fireworks and oolong tea. On the palate it lands like a silk pashmina and totally draws you in screaming top notch Burgundy and Vosne, simply a wine that couldn’t come from any other place. So much umami, so seamless, you could sniff and sip this all day without ever growing tired. Would have had to be my WOTN in a great line-up. Aromatically i found some parallels with Liger Belair Reignots 09. What a wonderful wonderful wine!

  • Really elegant and fine with these beautiful spice notes and a gorgeous silky texture. Just not fully integrated yet so perhaps another 5 years to reach its best. 93+

  • Favre-a-thon 6.0: Hedonistic and electric on the palate. Animalistic. A crowd pleaser and a wine that brought the excitement back for our last bottle of the night.

  • More open than my last bottle but will be better in a couple of more years. Love the spice on the nose. Beautifully balanced wine with dark cherry, spice and mineral notes. 96+

  • Really outstanding wine with all the raw material. Beautiful nose of spice and dark fruit with a little anise thrown in. This is a wine to drink over many years. I will try to hold off a couple of years before the next bottle. Enjoyable now but should be singing in 5 years. 96+

  • Sunday Supper (RS House): Absolutely outstanding nose of spice, dark fruit, red fruit, iron, iodine and soy. Stunning depth and integration and next to the Leroy this had so much more detail and depth. The balance and fullness were amazing and this is a case study in power without weight. Really delicious ultra long finish. Would have been my WOTN until the DRC showed up...

  • - Crimsom color with fast forming legs and aromas of raspberry, soy sauce, rose, black pepper and tea. It's in total harmony and has flavours of walnut and soy sauce with a medium body. Satin-Like texture with a long finish - Briljant wine from vosne. Fully entered its drinking window! My first 100 pointer.
