Mixed Bag of Nice Reds (Edina): Not bad but a little past peak. Cherry, spice, minerals and coffee. Not as concentrated as the last few bottles. No decant needed on this wine at this stage. Drink now.

Last bottle of this but it is the best. Just wonderful aromas of moss and forest floor. The red fruits and acidity are in perfect proportion. Just as good as the last bottle (notes on 9/8/10). Went perfectly with prime choice Angus Porterhouse and Fillet Mignon steaks on the Weber charcoal grill. This is how Valentines Day is done!

One of the nicest Syrahs I've tasted in a long time. Dominant rasperries and floral nose. Smooth and balanced palette. Full bodied fruity taste. Outstanding!

Complex wine with raspberry, cedar, floral and white pepper on the nose. The palate combines nice fruit and spices and offers a medium finish. This is a good example of balanced US Syrah.

Much like the last bottle on 6/4/10 but amped up a bit with some additive coffee aromas. This is a very complex yet subtle domestic Syrah. Glad I have two more left.

First Syrah drank out of our Riedel Syrah stems. Notes similar to previous bottles but so much more nuance in the nose..the forest floor present but with additive aromas of wet stone, herbs, moss, and hints of mint in the background. Palate is quite similar to past experiences. Love this Syrah.

Impromptu Mixed Bag Tasting: Matt brought this one, and I was surprised to like it as much as I did. Normally, I don't like a lot of acidity in a syrah, and given Matt's earlier notes referencing that, I didn't think this would be something I liked. But "balance" is the operative descriptor with this wine. A bit lighter in style than others opened, this had a nice floral note to the fruit that balanced perfectly with the acidity. G's favorite of the syrahs opened. A very food-friendly choice. Update Day 2: this wine along with the Old Lakeville have both moved toward the center. In the case of this wine, it has become richer with the acidity folding into the body of the palate. More expressive fruit tones. Very, very nice.

Second time we've had this wine & loved it. Paired with Lamb Shanks and was fine. Unfortunately, had a phenomenal CdP at same dinner that overshadowed it. Still, great fruit and mild tannins. Nose of blueberries and licorice; mouth of black cherry and a bit of pepper.

Notes similar to bottle drank on 1/13/10 only this bottle has a more developed nose with some additional forest floor character. Love this Syrah and glad to have another half case.

Nose: Spice and red fruits with some vanilla undertones. Palate: Soft tannins, good acidity. Spice and the red fruit flavors show. Medium length finish. Very subtle and feminine domestic Syrah that emphasizes balance over power and over the top fruit. New world wine in an old world style. Very nice and a steal at $9.00 on clearance.

I had this last night with friends, I just remember it as a very large wine that is still carrying a ton of acidity. Tannins are still tight and grippy. A bruiser early on though, big fruit that easily but only barely matched the acidity level. Based on that, if I had some I would let it rest another year at least.

Still very good, probably a bit past it's prime and not as good as I remembered. Drink now.

Pepper, spice, sour cherry, smoke and dust. Medium finish and while not the most complex wine it does offer a smooth experience. Drink now.
