blind Guessed right. So fresh, no oxidation sign, pinenuts but a lot of orange peel and the spicy notes are in the background. At the moment I would prefer it to the 2008. Had it 2 weeks later. Again very impressive. 99

blind guessed Selosse 2009. The best champaagne I know from 2007. Crystal clear, great concentration and not oxidative. The bottle 2 weeks ago felt even fresher. 97

Hot Selosse summer '23 (Chicago, IL): For me, it was always a flip-flop between whether I preferred this or the 2009. In contrast to the 2009, this has far more acid-driven tension, though at the expensive of the opulent fruit. It's a little more simplistic than the 2008 as well, though for the most part all the parts were there, even if it felt like this was driven more by the acid than having a balance across all the components of the wine (like the 2008). Again with air, this was a wine that tightened up significantly; there was more structure and minerality with air. Not quite as impressive as my prior experience with this wine, mostly because it was overshadowed by the absolutely brilliant 2008.

Selosse Millesime Vertical 1995-2009: A bit reserved on the nose with some white flowers. However, the palate is rich and vibrant, even a bit punchy. Layers of flavors.

Disgorged February 4, 2019. Like the 2008, this was very uninteresting and heavily oxidative right at the beginning. There were strong notes of apple cider and browned fruit. But as the evening went on, this tightened up in a very impressive way -- it just kept getting fresher and brighter; and this became a bottle that really highlighted the best parts of chardonnay in an otherwise difficult, underwhelming vintage. There are some slight sherried/oxidative notes on the nose, but with air these browned tones became tart white citrus and green apples. The palate has some brioche tones, as well as a slight nutty, sotolon character. Fabulously intense and concentrated; probably the best 2007 vintage champagne made.

Lovely, slightly oxidative nose with chamomile, lemon, green apple, toast, brioche, and cheese rind. Very fine mousse with high acidity on the palate and flavors of lemon peel, lemon, green apple, more brioche, and bread. Long finish. Fantastic wine and experience!

There's a gentle nuttiness on opening. With air it becomes more vinous. It is rich and powerful, with some cinnamon spice and loads of preserved lemon. It has layers of flavour and so much chalk and chew to the finish. Drinking beautifully.

Jacques Selosse horisontal tasting of 9 cuvees (Krüff): All wines were presented by Guillaume Selosse. For me the best cuvee this afternoon was 2007 Millesime, extra Brut, 94+. An unexpected no. 2 was Les Chantereines with 93+. Usually my favourite from Selosse is Les Carelles which this time ended with 92, the same as Chemin de Chalon. All these Top Four cuvees are BdB.
This wine: Deep lemon color. Lots of butter(!), lots of toast, coffee. This cuvee is the one that develops least in the glass. All the other cuvees develop very fast in the glass, as we are used to with selosse. 94+

Disgorged 19th of February, 2019. Has some truffle, honey and toasty development. There are toffee apple notes along with plenty of salted caramel and preserved lemon. It is rich, layered and intense, with chalky grip to the extremely long finish. In a very nice place.

Disgorged 2019. Yeasty upon opening and took some air to clear up. Deep rich honey nose, yellow fruit, signature Selosse, can feel the cool vintage. 93-94

blind Great wine anyway but phantastic for this bad vintage. Roasted pinenut, lemon zest, more powerful than other vintages because of the 20% PN he used for the first time in this millesime. He is now using his best wines instead of the two parcels of Avize. Love it. 97+
blind I guessed Selosse 2004 from Magnum. So Vibrant, so powerful, so balanced. Some minimal oxi nose but beautiful Fresh. I had this week 02, 05, 07 and 09. 07 was the "winner". I had no better vintage champagne from 05 and 07 than Selosse. Normally I'm a fan of drinking Selosse later but this one is in great shape in the moment. 98+

Aperitifs at Domaine Jacques Selosse (Avize): This has a fairly high percentage of Pinot in it. More savour and more bitterness than the NVs tasted prior make for a unique and compelling Champagne. Massive depth and length. My #2 tonight.

This was awful. I guess they're still making this in an oxidative stile. Whatever. This was past a normal ox Champagne. It was gosh awful flawed. I don't think I will take any more chances on Selosse. The wines are good when on, but not worth the confiscatory prices they ask for it. Especially with a higher flaw rate I have experienced.

Obviously from a cold vintage, it’s a little lighter in the body but packed no less power. Fresh and more modern.

A private dinner (Restaurant d'Oude Schuur, Sint-Martens-Latem, Belgium): Disgorged February 2019. Mildly oxidative, white nuts, nutmeg, rich and vinous but dry and minerally, tart citrus, layered flavours, gentle bitters, very good but not mind blowing.

Honey, lime, green tea, almond croissant, quince, gold/green apples. Acid carries the whole palate as well as a nice chewy mouthfeel.
