In my cellar for many years and finally getting around to a few bottles of this vintage. It’s very new world in style but an unmistakable Bordeaux blend style. A few harsh edges but really quite balanced now and should be solid for years to come if cellared well. But by all means get into it right now.

Very odd experience for a very well cellared stelvin capped wine. The flavour was that of a cheap, over fruity trending porty wine. It didn’t taste completely off but over rich. The colour was a little flat/matte but didn’t look terribly aged. Weird experience. Not worth a score.

Deep red colour. Tight nose - took a while to open. Blackcurrant, cassis, mint and eucalyptus on nose. Similar flavours with a touch of meatiness. Very enjoyable. Drinking very well.

Alohashirt, the most recent taster on CT, must have had an off bottle last year, because this one was singing. Decanted for an hour. Rich purple-red color, bright notes of crashed blackberries and red raspberries, baking spices, lavender. Very well integrated and drinking beautifully. Tannins have melted in. Could go for another year, maybe even two or three, but no need to wait. Recommended.

I had high hopes. Nice nose but as soon as it touched my tongue it was flat. It had a long finish, but the fruit was lacking. It was drinkable, more than drinkable, but a mere shadow of the 2012 Keyneton that I loved so much. If I had a glass of this in a setting where cheap wine is the norm, I wouldnt have been disappointed. Knowing how amazing this wine can be, it was a shame to experience a tired bottle.

Really drinking beautifully. Nicely balanced Syrah blend that's done in a sweeter style. Not a lot of earth and smoky notes. Reminded me of a Central Coast Syrah. This wine is really in its prime right now.

The Keyneton Estate has proven it's pedigree over a number of years and recently become a classified wine in the Langtons guide which is considered the pinnacle of Australian wines.
It is a blend of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc from the Barossa and Eden Valley's, it is matured for 20 months in new and seasoned french oak, the nose is dense and savoury with tomato leave, plum and raspberry and doesn't give away it's 8 years of age.
The palate is full and slightly reductive initially, there is generous plum and olive with integrated oak and a considerable finish, this wine will certainly go another 10 years and it will be interesting to see where. Review Link - www.winereviewer.com.au (drink from 2014-2024)

Deep garnet colour. Engaging nose of red/black fruits with slight earthy tar. Very good balance and structured. Probably needed more breathing time - flavours a little red fruit simple but thoroughly enjoyable nonetheless. A little fruit forward upfront but with a more balanced and cleaner finish. Some nice tannins still presence giving it a good sense of life.

Wood, spice, good concentration, but lacks personality. I don't think it needs any more time, but it does need some careful decanting and 30-40 breathing. It's at its best with the beef stew.

judging by the other reviews i wonder if i have a dodgy case. i loved the 2004 albeit some 4 or 5 years ago when it was nearly half the price. this case i tucked away and am struggling to say anything good about. minimum fruit , no tannins or acidity . drinkable but basically flat and passed it best. shame

Lovely sweet aromas, deep crimson colour, red berries and plum, layers of flavour. Complete with a smooth, long finish. Very well balanced and structured wine.

A decent Cabernet-Shiraz blend. Quite open, upfront. Ready now. Immediately announcing itself with vanilla, cassis, cedar and some hints of damson, cardamon, and coconut. Drying finish; will let it breath 40 minutes before the roast beef is served (though 30 minutes from opening it's already more approachable). Not bad at all and goes well with the beef of course. I suspect it can accompany lighter dishes (chicken, grilled vegetables with olive oil) if you let it breath a bit first. Decanting is recommended anyway since there's some sediment present now. PS, I prefer the two varieties on their own: Cyril Henschke Cabernet and Mount Edelstone are both remarkable. Henry's Seven SGM provides very good value though only lasts 4-5 years.

This is divine. I'm very very sad that it is my last one. There is no hint of prune - it's beautiful and balanced, and as fruit forward as any other South Australian Shiraz without the 'too much fruit' feel.

Lush, vibrant and intense; a full-on sensory experience. Highly aromatic, and very powerful and rich on the palate, but measured and urbane, too, the swirling fruit flavours balanced between sharp crunchy raspberry and dark plum and cherry, plus mint, pepper, vanilla and sweet spice. Top class.

Kind of a funky (not bad) nose. Fruit forward with nice plum & dark berry tastes. The different grape varieties evidenced themselves at different times as the bottle was consumed.

Definately fruit forward. Plum, cherry, hint of dark chocolate on the nose. Firm but not overly so. Served a little too cold at the wine bar but after decanting and a little time was extremely enjoyable Shiraz blend.

Wow. I can't think of a better way to spend $40 outside of a gentleman's club. Huge nose, mostly merlot. The initial attack is a velvety Shiraz - though weak on spice. Very well composed, notes of cherry, plum and mint wrestle for prominence. Tannins are soft and mature and followed by an acidic bite.

Had this as the wine at a tennis tailgate before the semi's of a professional tennis tournament. I wondered how it would fare with pasta dishes and shrimp and was very pleasantly surprised. Very smooth and delicious down to the last drop. This bottle got to where it was supposed to be.

The nose is strongly Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon dominated. Merlot or cab franc make up the rest of the blend. The resulting nose is close to a zinfandel aroma. I popped and poured and this wine was almost immediately approachable. Very smooth with few edges at first...a good single taste with a long viscous finish. There is a lot of fruit hiding behind the tannins. As the wine airs it grows in complexity. The winemakers suggests decanting...good idea. Plums and other dark fruits, really ripe, and I also found the sweet, sour, and salty ending. Finished the bottle the next day and while it was very good, it never quite got to where I thought it would get.

Gorgeous nose of cassis - like soft. lush backcurrant jam - one dimensional but very pure. A cassis dominated flavour, soft and full, jammy but not hot. Low acidity but the wine has a certain elegance. Very polished. Nice flavour but it doesn't show development yet and a little short on the finish. Good wine certainly and quite drinkable now.

Beautiful deep ruby colour, on the nose vanilla, cranberry, rasberries and strawberries, flowers. really nice nose. On the palate, medium to full bodied, smooth silky tannins, Sweet and sour and salty at the end. Definetely will improve over next 2 3 years if cellared correctly. I really like this. They picked grape on march, great move, Does not taste overripe at all in hot typical 2005 vintage. Will try next one in 2010. Highly recommended
