Held up, was surprised. I had forgot I had this. Nose was dark cherry, and cola, slight nilla. On the palate, more of the same with a touch of fig, medium acidity, macerated cherries, smooth with light tannins still present. Finish was not super long however held nicely and was not astringent.

Still contains a good amount of sweet fruit. Seems a bit forward and overdone at first, with syrupy cherry cola, beef jerky, holiday spices, umeboshi, and prunes on the nose. But on the palate, the texture is supple, and the wine is more or less balanced. Some red fruits peak through toward the finish. Maybe a tad heavy for my tastes, but to its credit, the wine does keep changing in the glass.

Beautiful crimson red color with tinges of rust on the edges. Still fairly fruit forward, lots of pear on the nose, plus some alcohol, maybe some floral notes (I think this bottle could have stayed down a little while longer). Fuller bodied than some burgundies I've had recently, but I would say medium bodied. Finish was a little acidic and not too long. All-in-all still a very nice wine.

Interesting and somewhat atypical nose; dark cherry, raspberry, cola, but also bitter orange and a bit savory. A bit hot, and without any floral perfume. Very silky mouthfeel, medium-minus tannin, medium acid. Noticeable oak, well integrated. Pretty good finish of cherry cola and soy. Maybe would have guessed Oregon if tasted blind. Still fairly youthful.

Pretty wine that was mid-way between the Burg and the Oregon Pinot in style. Not hard to miss its RRV terroir, but this had an elegant edge. Red fruit, a bit more lush than the red berries on the burg. At Marche Moderne for their "pig from head to tail" special. Awesomev

nose - cola, berry liqueur, smoke essence mouht - superbly balanced rich blackberry&fig fruit, followed by long racy acidity, then fig again is back on the finish. All framed by nice structural tannins. This is delicious juicy and rich. Best RRV Pinot I've had in some while. Wish I had more.

This wine surprised me with its balance, delicacy and earthiness; particularly relative to other notes here. I didn't get the oak that others have commented on. I thought this was very un-RRV in style and I mean that is a good way.Very elegant and a great compliment to grilled wild salmon.

Lush sweet nose, of raspberry, brown sugar, citrus, macerated cherries. Deep Burgundy-red with clear edges. In the mouth, bright and acidic streak makes this desirable for me-red fruit; cherry, mineral slate. Finish ends abruptly-not smooth. This has been open ~6 hours. Will try tomorrow. At this point, certainly lean, tannic, acidic. Spicy oakiness on the backend. Update: A day later this is fading strawberry / raspberry / cherry juice, diluted and liquored, acidic and spicy. Enjoyed with Coq au Beaujolais.

Wine Club (Bowling Green, OH): From a 375. A very interesting style - some definite New Zealand grapefruit on the nose and palate, but with the California weight and a bit of Burgundian poo. A very interesting balance that gives this a good complexity. Unfortunately, there's too much oak that hasn't had time to integrate, so there's a bit of a bitter smoky flavor going on.

This is very nice, consistent with previous note. Very burgundian in style, which is what I like, as opposed to so many CA pinots that could pass as syrahs. I think that this drank great right out of the bottle then maybe quieted a bit, but at about three hours drank very well, which makes me think that this will really be best in about one year.

Lovely pinot that's made in a balanced and elegant style but the rich cut of cherry and black rasberry fruit shines through. Avoids the sweetness of so many Cali pinots and is true to its RRV terrior. This is delicious and meant to be drunk right now. 89

Opened not decanted. There is an overall dryness to the wine that shows up on the nose and palate. On the nose: some faint notes of licorice. On the palate: dried raspberry. Rock solid Pinot from a consistent producer. I have enjoyed Merry's Pinots for a few years now and was not let down by the entry level russian river from 2006. Purchased from the winery around a year ago, this Pinot is drinking quite well right now for an 06. Nice balance, smooth fruit, with a surprisingly rich mouth feel. Did not decant and still felt wine was open and drinking very well.

Consumed on the heels of the Merry Edwards 2006 Sonoma County Pinot Noir. This wine has a darker berry fruit component to it. Rich nose of root beer, strawberry, and sweaty sock. Lovely nose.
