Wow, haven't had one of these since 2011! Well, I think the fruit has faded a touch, but it's still drinking well. Brickish garnet color. Aromas of cherry, pomegranate, cinnamon, dill, soil, and root vegetables like beets and radishes. Medium body, medium (+) acid and finish, and flavors largely carrying through, along with some black tea and orange peel. Nice pinot with complexity. Paired killer with butternut squash and rosemary apple flat breads.

Dork night. So 7 afficionados get together to taste blind pinots and I pull out this wine, and a new guy I've never met before in my life guesses right away that it's an 07 Cristom Mt. Jeff. Okay, it was the Somers instead, but way to go New Guy! Good funk on the nose suggests age, smokey, plums, roasted beets, loamy. A beautifully made OR pinot in it's prime.

Not at the greatness level of Cristom's Single Vineyard Pinots, but very good. Lots of red dusty fruit, typical of Oregon, and some cinnamon and a touch of oak.

Such a great Oregon Pinot. Garnet color. Big nose of baked dark cherries with toasted nuts and floral notes. The cherries appear on the palate and they are rich and ripe with soft blue notes. The wine has a great round mouth feel as well as some well integrated tannins. The acidity sticks around for a while.

My second bottle of two purchased. I really like what this wine has become. It still lacks some subtlety. However, it is both full-flavored and complex. Woodsy, spicy, deeply fruited and with enough acidity to provide decent structure. I'd guess this has some possibility for further development, but it really is quite tasty right now, much more vivid than the bottle consumed a year and a half ago.

Drinking extremely well right now. Classic Cristom funk--mushroom, forest floor, creosote/smoke, dark cherry, menthol with a little wild raspberry. Pop and pour and then consumed over a couple of hours.

Tasted at wine bar - not sure of price of bottle, but I would not enjoying paying more than 20-30 $ CAN.
Nose is old world with some earth and funky notes. Palate is sharp with initial attack of some acid and then decent amount of fruit - kind of nondescript for me. There is some underlying light bitter notes also. Decent effort, but not exactly something i would search out. Fairly average taste profile.

On first opening the nose shows red berries, all spice and pepper with some peat bog and sea breeze wafting in the background. The palate is full of smokey red berries and mineral with a tart fresh finish.
One hour later the nose is dark fruit, earth and light pepper. The palate shows similar character of earth, dark fruit and light cracked pepper that ends with a light tart finish.
One day later the wine has lost a bit of oomph with a nose of red berries, with some barnyard funk and peat bog overtones. The palate is showing dry tart dark fruit character that leads to a similar finish.

I always enjoy getting to taste these more premium offerings of Oregon Pinot Noir. This one has had some extra years of bottle age, which really helps things integrate and taste good. This one is almost textbook in flavor and aroma profile. It has the type of body and structure that made my first taste give me the impression of slightly Burgundian. The nose is all over the place, with cinnamon, black tea, vanilla, and dark cherry. There is not a lot of color, but plenty of flavor. It comes in layers, starting with rich dark cherry, enhanced with an earthy, spicy, cola flavor. Then the darker fruits come in the background. It is only medium bodied. You know there is some serious French oak. Refined tannins. This one can age for several years.

Enjoyed this quite a bit. Key component here was this wine's complexity, in that every time we went back for another taste, a new aroma or flavor came through. Decanted about an hour and drank over the next few. Deep amber color. Silky texture and mouthfeel. Aromas bouncing between traditional notes of raspberry, cherry, and cola, along with some definite, and intriguing, veggie notes of beets, green pepper, celery, and carrots, as well as dirt, roots and mushrooms. Believe it or not, consistent flavor profile. Delicious, and nice mouthfeel. My only fault is that the finish is a little short; otherwise, this is very nice, and I'm glad to have more.

Casa Sena Tasting, July 2011 (Casa Sena Retail Shop): Has "Pinosity" and structure. Tobacco/stem, earthy, red fruit, cinnamon, smoke. Definitely on the earthy side, but balanced on that end of the spectrum. I like the green tone on the nose and palate. Oak well-integrated. Firm but not big structure.

Red berry, a bit loamy, but lacking finesse. Good, at least, tending towards very good on the flavor and aroma profile. Could use a bit more subtlety and lift. I caught this wine marked down to about $25, at which it represents fine value.

Cristom, St. Innocent, Johan Vineyards (Eola-Amity/Willamette Valley, OR): Similar experience for me as the 2006. Light green notes on the nose, but generally it is quite soft. There's vibrant acidity on the palate, with some green flavors. Tons of gree apples on the finish, tart acid which is nice, but overall the finish is quite flat.

Memorial Day Weekend near Salem Oregon (Willamette Valley Oregon): The nose reminds me of nutmeg baked into a pastry along with really dark cherries. The cherries appear on the palate and they are rich and ripe. The wine has a great round mouth feel as well as some well integrated tannins. The acidity sticks around for a while, and some cherry skins show distinctly as well. 89-

Dusty, mint herbal coughdrop nose. taste has herbal mint cinnamon flavors with briar, crushed leaves and background fruit. The wine has good structure, but seems to lack finishing flavor, med tannin on finish. I expect this to age and would think the wine will evolve open up with time and I will like it more, although I still like this style.

Well balanced, very slightly astringent, but ready to drink, hint of acid, typical cherry taste. Enjoyed it with duck; perfect food match.
