Ripe, Cabernet based wine. Dark color. Dark fruit, black currant, black cherries, some chocolate, pepper. Harmonious and well balanced. Medium to long finish with still some acidity. Might keep for 2-3 more years.

Fathers day selection. For my tastes, I loved it, Rate? 93. At first it could have been almost any grape. With air, the lineage became more clear. Very nice blend, Bothe power and fruit.

Drinking superbly and at peak - drink or hold but leaning heavily on the drink, even though this does have likely 2-3 years left before degradation kicks in I see no upside to further cellaring. 6 more bottles left and will be knocking one off every 2-3 months. Subtle, beautiful, medium - full bodied, dark purple, balanced and with a medium length aftertaste. Nose of more red then dark fruit, floral with violet notes and garrigue. Flavor profile of more cedar then oak, dark cherry, cassis and then leather and grilled meat. Definitely recommend with the caveat that these need to be drunk up shortly. CanNOT believe that this is anyone's 2nd label wine.

This wine has class. It's certainly not a fruit bomb - it's a well executed & subtle Cab dominated blend that hits all the right notes. Very tame nose, and a well balanced palate consisting of dark fruit, light white pepper notes, cocoa powder, mild tannins that aren't astringent on the finish, and a very faint hint of leather & tobacco. It was soooooo easy to drink! Decanted for 45 minutes, then poured back into the bottle for the 1/2 hour trip to the restaurant. About a thimble full of coffee ground sized sediment was left in the decanter. It was singing within a minute or two of hitting the glass.

Cork broke so filtered into a decanter. The wine continued to open over the next two hours. Nice dark fruit with low acidity and smooth tannins. A blend of 87% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest small amounts of Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. An excellent mid priced Cali cab blend with a little bit of Bordeaux influence. This went great with prime rib roast.

Less concentration than the 2005, but also more freshness of fruit. Ripe fruit sweetness although refreshingly dry claret, and instantly attractive. A fine wine that is awfully hard not to like.
Napa and great value - who would have thought!
Drinking well now. Will it change with further age, I suspect not a great deal, but worth seeing. Will it live for another decade - yes probably, or more.
14%ABV sealed with cork.

Little confused by the lower ratings of this wine out there - this wine is brilliant. Flint, cool, delicate and round - drinking perfectly right now for this vintage. Absolutely delicious wine and well balanced and composed. Hints of toasted cherry, raspberry, vanilla, hints of oak and cedar. Rounding notes of soft mint and cool cassis. Gorgeous.

Strained for sediment (noticeable) and decanted approx. 30 min. ... Deep ruby, bordering on purple in color; nose was muted but featured leather and strawberries and the palate followed. Figs and berries to open, with a big dose of leather and earth at the mid. Tannins smooth and ever so slightly sweet, but firmly present. Seemed like a classic Cali take on the Bordeaux blend to me. A good value at less than $40/bottle.

Clear,Ruby core, moving to a red brick rim. Nose is clean and developing with medium + intensity, leather, blackfruit, herbal, cinnamon, spice box. Palate is dry medium alcohol, medium acid, medium plus tannin, full body, lots of black fruit and meat, little bit of leather and spice. Needed decanting for a few hours to soften the tannins. Ready to drink and will improve. Open next bottle in 1 year.

On the nose dark blue fruit and meaty black olive flavors but with a refreshing herbal/mint lift. Blackberry on the palate. The wood is a bit too prominent and the tannins are chewy and a touch drying.

Decanted for 1.5 hours before drinking and continued over the next three hours. Darker than I would have expected. Initially very closed nose and flavors, but opened up after 3 hours in the decanter. Black cherry, herbs, minerals. Short to mediim finish. Not nearly as enjoyable as the Dominus of the same year, but it is 1/3 the price after all. Kept half the bottle and will try it again tomorrow it the next day. Better after 30 hours after opening - smoother and better mouth feel.

Pure class. This is drinking superbly right now. Has the elements I look for in a California Bordeaux blend (based on Cab). Lovely ripe fruit flavors that are not overtly sweet, with velvety tannins and totally integrated oak which brings a nice complexity of baking spices. There are also a few minerally notes toward the finish, which is very long and balanced. Was really pleasantly surprised by this wine.

Popped and poured, tasted and immediately decanted. Initially, very closed down but after an hour, black cherry, herbs, currant, cedar. This continued to improve so after 2 hours, it achieved the 90. Good finish, full bodied. I believe this has signficant upside over the next few years and suggest waiting or a 2 hour decant.

Popped and poured and followed over a couple hours. Shy nose of black currants and herbal streak. Palate was rather austere with prominent tannins, but nice fruit underneath and a definite herbal/complexity component. Moderate finish with a little earth and menthol. Very reminiscent of a strong Pauillac like Lalande and very much a baby Dominus. Give the austerity, I'd have a hard time picking this out of bdx lineup. Hold for 3-5yrs. Strong effort. Would like to taste the '06 Dominus.

Loved the mint and green pepper notes that blended nicely into the strong blackberry scents on the nose. On the palate, this had a pleasing freshness from the acidity that made this wine great with food. As always, a really top-class cabernet at a very reasonable price.

Ran through vinturi into decanter. Deep dark purple all the way to the rim. Some Bordeaux like funk on the nose, allot of bell pepper, Bold legs, Muted fruit with pepper, dark chocolate, mocha, mushroom, must, earthiness, some vanilla and oak, cream, again Very Bordeaux like. Wonderful mouthfeel, velvity texture, exciting dark fruit, cherries, vanilla, cream, spice, well integrated tannins with a cherry fruited finish mild acidity and spice. Beautiful wine which I think is starting to come alive. Another year and it should be VERY good. MUCH Better than last bottle.

Pop and pour at a local restaurant. Very dry and tannic. Opens considerably with some time in the glass. Seems like an ager. Almost indistinguishable from an 06 dominus drank recently. Very nice with some time yet very harsh out of the gates. Black cherry with lots of spice on the palate.

Very Bordeaux like. Dark purple color with a beautiful garnet rim. Stong, bold, sensual legs. Nose of dark fruit, vanilla, oak, cassis, blackcherries, leather, briar, pepper and some terroir. Palate expressed what was on the nose with well integrated tannins and acidity with a lingering spicy finish. Great expression of a California Bordeaux :-), not withstanding Dominus is a Christian Mouiex project. Agree this wine can use more time but is still approachable now but in 2 years it will be exceptional.

Napa Cabernet (Waterford Wine Co., Milwaukee): creamier fruit in the nose. john daniel took this one vineyard from Inglenook, after the family estate was sold in 1950. this is some really nice fruit in the nose. hints of old world aromas. not quite brett. 'butterscotch.' dry caramel. palate has a fun nuanced green edge. 'yountville is generally disliked by the american market.' the green on the palate seems to be quite the reference to its yountville origins. REGION II.

Just a baby for sure even after a solid 2 hour aeration, I love how Christian Mouiex makes a Cali expression of the Bordeaux blend, it's ripe for sure, but not over the top, elegant, lovely - Dark, well concentrated with a nose of black fruit, plum, leather, cigarbox, earth and creamy vanilla, complex, austere, young, dry, silky smooth on the palate with excellent length (91 Points).

Dark dull red/rust in color, sleek and earthy with a leanness that needs food. Pumice/potting soil/cigar ash. Some redeeming dark fruit and earth, but at this price I'd hope for more. Upgraded later as it opened up, got air and mellowed with food.

Similar to my previous note. This has put on a bit of weight with better balance. Great wine. Paired well with lamb loin chops grilled in the fireplace.
REVISION: Though I originally rated this an 86, after 2 days of being opened (though corked), the wine became much more friendly and the taste was better balanced. Though it still had a metallic aftertaste, thought the wine needed a minor upgrade in rating. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I had high hopes for this one given its Dominus connections. This is the first time I've had this wine. Upon pouring, you see this great dark plum color and rich leather and oak scent. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. A dry heat took over with tannins to boot. I used my Vinturi to open it up which was better than without (when the finish was "watery"). I found this to be not all that impressive and for the price point, I've had better (think Cinq Cepages).

The Blind Drunks monthly tasting (Joe P's): Garnet color. Notes of red fruit and oak spice, with a nice herbal undertone. Elevated acid levels, though not too high, with red currant, plum and buttery tones on the palate. Easy to identify as Cali cab. 89-90 pts.

Ken and Kelly over for dinner/spades V (Our house, Kennett square, PA): Tasted double blind. Big nose of mint, dark fruits and a little bit of alc. Ripe dark fruits, spices, some menthol, leather, slight earth. Good acidity and lots of fine tannins. Really enjoyed this. Drink now or hold.

4th tasting with consistent notes, light but pleasing fruit flavors, beginning to dry out a bit.

Second tasting with consistent notes. Somewhat light in color, nice balance between fruit and tannin. Nice aromatics. Drinking quite well. Good wine at this price point.

Very nice "bargain" Napa cab blend, with great typicity. There's noplace else on earth this wine could have come from. Great ripe fruit. 91.

Dark glossy crimson. The nose is ripe and classy with cherry, ground coffee and tobacco smoke. Fine and velvety palate, a luxurious texture, with a classic new world character: flavours of blackberry and creamy dark chocolate.

Medium garnet with a subtle mixed dark red fruit nose. Decanted 60 minutes. Big dark cherries and blackberries with some cola and earth, but all too undifferentiated. Its too young. The tannins are still too dominant.

RUSSK Not bad, but not ready, even after plenty of vinvac and decant time (3hrs). Still a bit tannic, not that aromatic. Drank with the 2007 Block 214 (ABC) Oakville and the 214 was much better with dinner (Ribeye), but had a longer decant (.5 day).
