Marguet tasting regroup (Tanglin Club Tang Yun): Disgorged spring 2009, oxidative notes, bready, yeasty with good precision, palate is youthful amazing precision and good acidity. Drinking beautifully

Continues to be a bold, fruit forward, and what feels like a moderately high dosage wine. Maturing gracefully, and consistent in its style and performance over the years. Good, but a bit heavy on the palate for my preference. Likely at peak maturity, but should have plenty of life.

Bottle #4 of 5. Wow, still phenomenal. Deep rich golden yellow color. There is so much minerality in this wine that it is like licking brass. It smells like rocks. Subdued fruit - citrus and starfruit - biscotti-oriented doughiness, superb acidity and a marvelous finish. One of the most mineral laden wines of all time for me..... Wow. Another 5 years in the tank. This could make superb old bones if I can hold out on my last bottle for another decade, which I doubt.

Bottle #3 of 5. Mature gold yellow color. Nice thin bead, good grip and deep ripe citrus fruit still, nice depth and minerality. Suffered in the company of 2010 Dom and 2004 Pol Roger Brut.

TGIF (Domaine Wine Storage - Chicago, IL): I hadn't been familiar with this producer before today. Tons of ripping acidity (which i love) with a really complex flavor profile of biscuits, pears, cherry, white florals, and apples. Very nice.

A riper and rounder champagne, with a fair bit of stone fruit and bread on the nose and palate. This had a bit of a chalky texture as well on the back end, but this is more of a fruit- than mineral driven wine. Drinking very well now, though further aging will definitely add to the complexity.

Enjoyed in a Riedel Burgundy glass with Pacific oysters. Showing some brilliant gold in its deep yellow coloration. Better as it opens up and warms, this is bottle three of six. Beginning hints of toffee and a classy oxidative nose add complexity to the bright lemon fruit, and this gives way over time to a more yeast and mineral orientation. Bright citrus on the palate, deep rich baked bread, chalky, mineral laden, creamy, with a delightful bitter nuance, and with a dry, very long finish. While some might want more acidity, it has enough for me. This is the bomb, especially for the tariff paid in 08, and shows the greatness of the 02 vintage. I'd say my plan to drink my remaining bottles over the next 15 years, about one every 5 years, is spot on. Delicious.

This had been open a while when I got to it, and it was just great. No formal note - but it was full, bready, creamy, with great citrus, fruit and acid - both on the nose and on the palate - 16.5/20.

White gold color. Impressive bouquet of fresh bread, citrus and nut skin. Slightly sweet entry. Tight palate. Offers some acid, grapefruit and a cheesy note. This was really refreshing up front. 91

Champagne of Champions event at home. Blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir. Far too sweet and the bubbles reminded me of Alka-Selzer. A definite NO for me.

Ganska bra men inte mycket ner än så. Köpt på plats. Med tanke på årgång och by borde det kunna leverar mer. Inget som är speciellt dåligt men heller inget som sticker ut. Ett korrekt vin men inte mycket mer.

A brief bit of oxidation on the nose quickly blew off to give up apple, brioche, honey and hints of licorice. Pretty full bodied with delicious fruit and a very fine mousse. Seems like this has a fairly high dosage.

More leesy than anything else. This lacked the same fruit that it had when we tasted it last a little over 2 years ago. Mineral crispness. I do not think this was a "bad" bottle, but it did seem like the wine was a bit past its prime. With some air, it gained some subtle fruit, but never had the freshness and weight that I remember.

Consumed over 2 hours. I'm not sure this bottle was quite correct. I did not get as much fruit as I expected from previous notes, and this struck me as more mineral, tight and toasty, but with slightly oxidative notes as well. Still pleasant to drink, in the end, but just a little disappointing.

Sushi and 2002 Vintage Champagnes (Fuji-Ya, Minneapolis): Second time tasted. This was really tight and closed. Initially served too warm (my fault), showing straightforward peachy flavors and sharp acidity. As it chilled down, it improved dramatically and resembled a more closed-down version of the bottle I tasted in November (see TN). IMHO, these really need to rest for a couple years.

Another nice but not memorable as the btl from a few months ago? Btl variation? or maybe the night was more special? This one seemed leaner to me. Maybe a little more rest after shipping might have helped too? Hope my other 5 are better.
Birthday dinner @ Piccolo. Rich, light amber color. Really lovely, showing intense fruit, toast, and a suave mousse. Long, elegant, and expansive on the palate, with a burst of energy on the finish. Just delicious stuff.

great champagne. nothing tight, bitter or out of place. pure, long, elegant and complex with toast, a bit of yeast, berry fruit and beautiful effervescence. I think this is every bit as good as champagnes at twice the price.

70% PN/ 30% Chardonnay. Loved it! Bright gold color. Small tight bubbles. Bread dough / yeasty nose along with red fruit scents. The palate is very fresh and lively but not austere. A kaleidoscope of flavors from green apple to strawberries, to stones and spice.Great mouthfeel and long. This is very complex and very open for business. $100+ worth of Champagne for a mere $37 at K & L! Grand Cru for sure! I'll be going back for more.

I opened this at my 6/27/10 champagne tasting. It had an unusual bouquet of brioche, raspberry, orange peel, chamomile, herbal and smoke aromas. The palate was smooth and balanced with flavors of pear, raspberry, orange peel, baking spice and smoke.

Bing cherry up-front, which is surprising with only 30% Pinot Noir. Next the crisp Chardonnay brings in a hint of green apple and just a touch of lemon with (limestone?) minerals. It’s a masculine Champagne because of it’s strength, but it’s a gentleman. I do think that it’s still too young to really be near it’s peak, but it’s quite good now. $40 for a vintage Champagne of this quality is a definite value. Will certainly buy again.

not quite sure what was wrong with this one as I love the NV. Initial fruit with plum on nose but was somewhat flabby and never fully integrated well. Improved some after 1 hour open but not enough for me....may just need some more years to settle down..not sure..bottle may also have been flawed.

Popped and poured. Medium-light yellow/gold hue. Semi-persistent bead. Aromas of yeast, citrus, red fruits, and just a touch of biscuit. Medium-light body. An intriguing note of citrus (grapefruit?) is the first impression on the palate along with apples and more of the yeast and biscuit. Off dry and comes off as a bit flabby due to the low level of acidity but the finish is solid.
