Friday Night Brown Bagger (R&R's): Double blind. Opens with black fruit with floral undertones, picking up a cedar element with air. Full-bodied, with medium tannins and flavors of plummy dark fruit, spice and brown sugar.

The benefits of a little age were showcased in this bottle consumed along side a ‘12 Tusk that was excellent as well but younger. A full bodied red fruit dominated wine with hints of subtle cocoa, earth and some dark fruit mid palate to finish. Not overpowering at all with smooth tannins and everything in harmony through the long finish. Just wonderful.

Decanted over cocktails. Thick and seamless on the palate with oodles of redcurrant and earth. Purity, density, and simplicity come to mind to describe this example. Thoroughly enjoyable without any pretension.

amazing and probably the best bottle of schrader I've had. have never been able to wait till my Schraders hit 15 years of age, and to me, now that i've had one, I will wait for my others to mature to this age. This was perfectly balanced, delicious - while it was very CA cab, it had a purity of fruit and depth that was so enjoyable and not overwhelming. a real treat and perfect wine with grilled rib eyes.

Decanted for 1.5 hours. This is a big wine with supreme nose of black cherries, blackberries and fruits. The palate is surprisingly integrated with big/ muscular character. Complex and rich but very balance. Long finishing. We finished up in 2.5 hours (ie. Around 1 hour drinking period) but I have no doubt it could last for another 3-4 hours.

I would have to agree with the others on this. Spectacular wine. Big deep dark Cali Cab. This is a rich bomb of black cherries blackberries with beautiful depth and elegance. 5 hour decant and drank over another 5 hours. Each sip almost better than the next. 45 seconds on the finish. Truly one of the better Cali Cabs I have had. Ratings are deserved. This is ready to go with a nice full day decant or plenty of structure for more time in the cellar.

I Decanted it for 2 hours . this wine is big and muscular with a long finish that last 45 second to a minute on the palate . Sipped on it for over 4 hours and it was developing from minute to minute I would hold on my other bottle for at least 3 years or more .

Sediments are present but fabulous wine! Nose of perfume and later black ripe cherries! Very slow legs on the glass. Very balanced with some heat present but manageable! Where this wine shines is in the finish! It lingers on for one minute. Highly recommend.

Fabulous wine. The best that California Cabernet has to offer. Really dark red looking wine, almost black. Nose full of red ripe fruits. Finish was pushing several minutes in the mouth. Tannins are still present but as it opened became less pronounced. This has many more years left to cellar. Wish I had more bottles. The 2006 vintage is a stunner!

Decanted for 90 minutes. Lot of sediment on this. Nose of currant, blackberry, bell pepper, loam and cherry compote. Nose really expressive and jumping out of the glass. Blackberry, currant, cherry, Berry cobbler, rhubarb and a slight mineral note. Finish goes on for at least a minute. This is simply fantastic!

Viking dinner at RJs - 96 Salon, 09 Coche CC, 01 Rousseau, 06 CSS, 06 Masseto, 01 D'Yquem and etc. (Reston, Va): Incredibly intense nose that is dominated by crème de cassis and licorice, also blackberry jelly, incense, violet, root beer, dark caramel and a hint of lead pencil. Big and chewy palate, incredibly think yet remarkably silky, intense cassis driven palate impression, bright acidity, no noticeable tannins due to intense layered fruit and lovely long sweet finish. I love blue/cassis fruit driven expression of Schrader cabs. This is still incredibly youthful and will benefit from another decade of cellaring. Really impressive wine.

Bachelor Party BYO Wine Dinner with the guys (Del Frisco's Chicago): Brought this to the restaurant ahead of time to be decanted and held at cellar temperature. We enjoyed this with the entree of 32 oz. Long Bone Wagyu Ribe Eye. We were baby killers this fine evening. The wine was superb - though we were a bit let down for a 100 pointer. Rich classic Schrader styling sporting royal leather, creme de cassis, dark cherries, mocha, touches of smoke and rich dark flowers. The mid palate is nice and the finish is gorgeous but could be a bit more harmonious to attain a higher score. The tannins still needed some time to come together. There was great acidity but the grip was overwhelming. There wasn't that wow factor I've gotten from some other Schrader. This was delicious but not the wine we all were expecting.

99-100 point wine dinner with 14 wines. This was my top red WOTN. Almost everyone else was in agreement. Great fruit nose, rich tasting, dense wine and long finish. Loved it, but could last for years and likely only get better. Hold off if you can. Decanted this one for an hour, rebottled for ride to restaurant, opened 2.5 hours later, then drank 2 hours later in 4th flight. Give it air or time.

- Garnet color with medium forming legs and aromas of chocolate, diacetyl (butter), hazelnut, black currant and cherry. It's in total harmony and has flavours of chocolate, dusty, blackberry and black currant with a full body. Satin-Like texture with a long finish - Terrific balance with complex multi layer flavors

Big and bold as usual with Schrader. Nose with dark berries, current, and some oak. Palate complex and nice balance of acidity. Tightly wound with some present tannins however which seems typical of the 2006's

Extraordinarily balanced. finish wasn't as long as i had expected from a RP100. It will develop more into a 100 pointer but at the moment it's not quite there. hold this wine for a few more years.
my friend commented that it wasn't the fruit bomb that he was expecting and i agreed. more dark fruits and dark flavors.

Decanted for an hour before tasting. As expected, there is a lot going on here - red and dark fruit, chocolate, coffee and even a pretty little floral note on the nose. Smooth on the palate with tannins showing just a bit. Long finish. Last sip was the best and, if I had another bottle, I'd decant longer. Excellent.

COLOR: Deep purple to a medium purple rim NOTE: Pacific Grove Trip - Limited Notes --- Still a baby, but had to open it. Nose was a little closed and hot, but when it did open after an hour it revealed lovely blackberry liqueur, kirsch, black currant and even some stewed black plum. Mouth was opulent black fruit, loaded with tannins that were velvety but smacked you and said "We're Here!" Finish was full of fruit, where the oak took on some dominance and the tannins left my tongue coated and my teeth a lovely purple shade! When paired with a fatty ribeye it just cut right through and the tannins disappeared. One of my favorite Schraders to date. Give this another few years if you can.
30 minutes out of the decanter. On the nose, got a blast of bright fresh blueberries then currents and blackberries.. The fruit on the nose is amazing like walking down the aisle of a fruit market. Almost reminds me of a malbec Fine tannins, just the right amount of oak and pencil shavings. Not as muscular as some of the other Beckstoffer's I've had. Floral and extremely well integrated for such a young cab. One of the best young cali cabs I've ever had. Will get much more complex down the road. Big upside.

Blind Cab Tasting: Tasted blind. Wow - This was incredible! I don't remember spending much time with this in the glass without knowing it was Schrader, but i don't remember who called it. I loved the milk chocolate/cola note that was there. Just amazing purity of the fruit shining through as well, and great balance as well. Really amazing wine!

This wine lives up to the hype. Popped and poured and let it sit in the glass for 15 minutes. The perfume seems to tumble out of the glass. A blast of pure fruit is checked by tannins, which are neither overbearing nor overrun. Got better and better over the few minutes that we were able to savor it. I'd love to see what this vintage of the Schrader is going to do over the next five years but I can't seem to keep my hands off them now.

Like all of the other Schraders, the similarities are there. All wonderful wines with some great depth structure and finesse. Not to sound like a broken record as I am sure I do already, this is just beautiful and a must seek out for Napa cabernet aficionados.
