Yalumba makes wines both modestly priced and delicious. But the color of this 11 year old Grenache shows significantly more bricking and browning than it had 3 years earlier, which now extends into the nose with a hint of oxidation. That said, the fruit flavor is predominately a tasty red raspberry and the acidity is refreshing. While heading downhill, best drunk sooner, and getting lighter in body, the wine remains enjoyable enough to be good both by itself and with food.

This wine is a good Grenache for lovers of Pinot Noir. The color is ruby with a medium body, but the flavors are delicious and the wine is enjoyable by itself and delightful with food. At the $8.50 I paid, a fine value. The flavors actually echo some of the best rose wines from Provence in France - primarily raspberry with the some secondary cherry and strawberry. Despite being served along with bigger, darker, and more powerful wines, I still not only enjoyed this wine, but kept coming back to it.

(14.5%) This starts with big, lush, juicy dark fruit with bramble spices before showing some earthy, mineral driven acidity on the mid-palate. From there it's downhill as the finish is a bit of a hot mess. Needless to say, while I admit I'm taking the glass half empty approach, I think you can do a whole lot better for $20. Then again it probably depends on whether our palates are similar...

Bright ruby red. Clear all the way through. Medium bodied and fruit forward. Raspberry kirsch and some darker berries on the back of the palate. Not terribly structured or complex, but very pure and delicious. Long finish.

APPEARANCE: Clean, light red. A little darker than pinot noir. AROMA: Chipolte peppers, earthy, cherry tootsie roll pops. TASTE: Very smooth. No tannins at all. Ready to drink now. Enjoyable, but not very complex.

Boerne Wine Club - Australia (Scenic Loop Cafe, San Antonio, TX)): Ripe round nose of plum, raspberry and cherry. palate is quite ripe and a little simple, with mostly fruit flavors and good spine of acidity, but lacking any earth flavors. Just simple red fruits. Medium finish. Well made and balanced, but disappointing complexity.

Elegant and finessed grenache that evokes traditional Châteauneuf-du-Pape rather than many of the heavily extracted, modern interpretations of the grape. Here you get just-ripe cherry and raspberry, mineral notes and a refreshing and spicy eau-de-vie finish, perhaps kirsch laced with sweet peppercorns. Good grenache is all about the fruit and the texture. The use of oak, or lack of it here, should be applauded: It takes guts and confidence to go subtle and let the fruit do the talking. The new Australia? Let’s hope. Drink now-2012. Food pairing: white meats, vegetarian dishes, especially those with olives and mushrooms.

Instant flowers on the nose, light rose color palate shows tart, unripe strawberries, slight spiciness hot with alcohol on the finish there are just trace amouts of french oak and tannins present-I wish they were more pronounced fairly priced at $17, I wouldn't buy it for any more though

After reading the earlier reviews I have to say I actually enjoyed this grenache. While sweet and "simple", it pleased the palette and entertained the senses. For the price of around $17 I wasn't looking for extravagance and in return found a pleasant, easy going wine. I think you'll like it.

Simple, tart, strawberry, possibly a little cran. Light bodied, not my thing. It's going in French Onion soup. In all honesty, this would make a fantastic sangria wine.

Light both in color and style. Cherry and raspberry notes. Gains spice midpalate and finishes with a smoked meat note.

Light, red fruits, pleasant. Significantly muted next day despite pump/fridge.

Walker tasting with Negociants, Solomon, and Vin Divino: I've never been a huge fan of the regular bottling of Yalumba's grenache. It's good, with bright fruit. But not really exciting. 86+?
