Ageing effortlessly at the moment . Very indicative of the year in its expression of ripeness. Suave texture, veering towards the modern, but the fruit, Nile rounding with age, still retains a very fresh personality. Unlike many 2007s, this does not feel tiring. This will be fascinating to follow. 91+

Developed nose and brick red in colour, still quite deep. Prunes, spice and leather. This wine seems to be drying out and has probably been kept a year or two too long. Still quite smooth and enjoyable.

Final bottle from a 6 pack, last had a bottle about 10 mos ago. This CdP was mature and lovely this evening, with ample notes of black cherry pie, espresso grounds, and warm cooking spices. This wine is at the end of it's life but still very nice, with softening tannins and medium acidity. Drink up.

3rd of 6 bottles. Last bottle was 1.5 yrs ago. Seems advanced and entering an OTH phase to me; slightly maderized and acetic, with balsamic tones over cooked blackberry pie fruit. Good complexity, ripe tannins, and moderate acidity...just nearing the end of the drinking window, IMHO. Drink sooner rather than later.

Just the ticket for a cold Friday evening, the last night before the UK Government's rule of six prohibited meeting up with friends indoors. Full-on, warming but without a hint of the over-ripeness or flabbiness that can sometimes be found in 2007 CNdP.

Starting to develop tertiary nuance. Generous and warm (not hot in the context of the vintage, although I could see some seeing excess heat). Suave and ripe Grenache, intense and refined fruit quality, veering towards liqueur. Thickish tannins and an acid balance that gives balance to the ripeness give great delineation to this wine. I have hopes that this will age to grace over the coming 10 - 20 years. Excellent. 92+

Dark, black-plum red. Still looks youthful. Rich christmas pudding fruit: prunes and currants, a little liquorice, soft leather, a bouquet of herbs and spices, over all some sweet tomato paste, prickle of pepper. Medium full-bodied. I typically prefer old fashioned or older Châteauneufs or Châteauneufs from cooler vintages. This Mont-Redon is none of these. However, this modern Châteauneuf from the hot 2007 vintage shows decent acidity and freshness. It's fully ripe and, to my palate, a little jammy but the alcohol - 14.5% on the label - is a touch higher than I would like, without being over the top. Black cherries, dark plums, raspberries, scorched earth, old polished wooden furniture, road tar and new leather. Generous and warm. Clean, pure and slick. Quite seamless. Better on the second night - it needs plenty of air at the moment. Drinking quite young. This Châteauneuf will, I imagine, drink over the next 25 years. Others - who like this style more than me - will no doubt score this wine much higher than me.

1st bottle of 6, I thought this would be a nice choice for a cold fall Ohio evening. Patience is a virtue, and this tenet is fully on display as I sniff and drink this 11 yr old CdP. Spicebox, woodsy notes, raspberry and red cherry, wet rocks, and mild anise on the nose. On the palate, beautifully balanced red fruits and chewy tannins give way to cinnamon, wet wood, leather, and rocks. The lingering finish is quite tense and soil-inflected, showing that this wine should drink well now through 2025+. Delicious.

Very early maturity. This is an extremely refined and well-balanced expression of the 2017 vintage. Generous alcohol at 14.5%, but everything seems in balance and while warm, this is no way hot on the palate. Herbs de Provence. Very modern and still not fully open. This is a subtle CNdP, but has great potential. Beautiful food wine. 91+

Very young, just entering its drinking window i think. This actually reminded me very much of Domaine des Escaravailles Cairanne Ventabren, which is one of my favourite daily drinkers. Very good, therefore, but I expected a bit more. This was my only bottle but if I had more i would wait a couple of years before opening another.

Fruity smokey nose; thick legs; explodes on the palate with juicy-fruity mouth filling sour cherries, liquorice; unctuous with some serious savoury notes; good tannins and structure; will last 10-15 years. Long with an aftertaste that evolves to tar. Should improve for a few years but beautiful now.

John Gillman's score is right on, n my opinion. A wine of great balance, gorgeous fruit and refinement. Blackberries, tree tomatoes, leather, spice and cassis on the nose. Equilibrium is the essential trait of the palate. This is complete and involving. Very complex bottle age notes add drama but I would not yet call this mature - just drinkable. This is not a blockbuster but it is superb.
Opened for 5 hours. First it has some metal tastes. But after some hours, a very good perfume has developed. Very nice with accordance of Asia foods. Rich and Very balanced. Mature. Good wine!

Bright red fruits, thyme, rosemary and crème brûlée. Crisp with a medium+ finish. Initially, it felt out of sync with harsh tannins and a hollow mid-palate, but came around after a couple of hours in the decanter. Not in a great place currently though.

Solid CnP with medium complexity; fruit, red meat and just a touch of smoke on the palate. I debated between 89 and 90 on this one, but gave it the benefit of the doubt after I also gave it a little more time to open up.

Tremendous value here. Classic CDP with roasted plums, rare meats, anise, earth, fig with big soy and worchestershire flavors. Was balance and focused on the palate and was delicious with a meat and cheese plate. For $32.50 it's a steal!
WES - Châteauneuf du Pape (LSE Holborn): Med intense. Deep ruby colour with a change at the edge. Perfumed and summer pudding on the nose. Luscious, rich, fresh, good acidity, long and bold with red fruit.

Decent Châteauneuf but not breathtaking (despite the excellent vintage conditions). Best results after breathing 30-45 minutes in the glass. Mellowed a bit after 2 hours but didn't improve. Disappointing on the second day. Wouldn't bother restocking. Lacking the depth I'm looking for in a Châteauneuf. Recommend holding another 4-5 years - it might improve with the addition of tertiary aromas.

Very smooth and balanced with a velvet long lasting finish. Intense fruit - cassis overtones. Decanted with venturi and then back and forth between two decanters for aeration. Sat for 30 minutes before tasting. This is very drinkable now but has lots of life left for future openings.

Savoury notes on the nose and a deep brick like red colour. Decanted for 2 hours and also passed brough a vinturi. High alcohol (as is typical for some CDP) is somehow lost and beautifully balanced with dark cassis and blackcurrent flavours. Drinking well now however expect it to go into a muted phase for a while. Good value for money wine given quality.

Nearly black in color with a nose of spices, jam and camphor the wine explodes on the palate with a profusion of well-integrated fruit and sweet tannins. Will hold for another 10 years. A magnificent example of this region.

The color is dense, dark garnet and nearly opaque. The smells are blackberry, cherry, currant, tar, wet stones, and camphor. The tastes are cherry, blackberry, stone, black licorice, subtle spices, pepper, with sweet vanilla and cedary notes. The tannins are fine and silky and this wine finishes with a tart, lengthy finish.

Enjoyed earlier this week at the monthly Hickory Wine Club wine tasting as part of a primarily '07 cdp flite. This wine was by far the most approachable of the flite and actually right now is already drinking quite reasonably well especially with an hour decant. I highly recommend this entry level cpd, I will be talking to my sources about obtaining a case and this wine is a good QPR wine at this price point. This will easily go for at least another 5-10 years. Dark purple, medium to full bodied, good mouth feel, surprisingly soft and well balanced and a reasonable lingering aftertaste. Aromatic fruity nose of red cherry and allspice, primary flavors include an upfront profile of more red then dark fruit including red cherry, raspberry, allspice and more herbal / earthy notes surfacing on the late palate and aftertaste.

Very decent wine that touches all the sweet spots for a CDP. Compact, restrained fruit with the tannins and acidity keeping this restrained and paired back. Good depth of fruit with a touch of funky barnyard in there too. Quite decent stuff for £20. This will keep for quite a few years and develop into something rather decent I think.

Nice, tannic, drinking well with lots of life left. Great nose with plenty of earth and fruit, garrigue. Not a blockbuster on the palate...almost austere for an 07. Can go a while longer, but possibly at the expense of fruit on the palate. Modest finish.

The first slurp was sweet, tannic, a bit acidic: all pretty well balanced. I could have drink my glass over an entire evening, just smelling at it. Mushrooms, earth, and a longgggg after taste. Drink less, save some bucks here and there, and spend them on such a bottle from time to time: life will just get much easier for a moment!

Nice, forward drinking quaffable stuff but still with enough varietal characteristics to give it a sense of place. Sweet, soft fruit with a touch of plum and orange and some herbs. Decent depth and a medium finish to leave the general feeling of contentment, but falling short of being memorable.

WOW! this is really good! gotten some great reviews and i can see why. really nice nose, lots of red berries. fresh, spicy but smooth, great balance. taste is rich, yet not too overpowering. strong plum flavour. pepper in the somewhat medium finish. and this is straight out the bottle into decanter and taste. my only concern is a tad much alcohol. but let it air for three hours, and it will be pure magic. will update then. edit, great! a bit less alcohol, acid after decantin for 5 hours. im gonna leave it a day or two, as im sure this wine will be superior! this worked amazingly well to chicken risotto.

(At Bistro Le Miel, Tobe) I loved it! Dark red youngling with herbaceous, young, raw, grapey nose. On the palate it is an amazing drink: very well balanced, wonderfully concentrated, long, complex, good. A pure, elegant wine that grew throughout the dinner. This might be their first good/great vintage they've produced for a looong time (decades)! Will get a case for many years of returning pleasure.

Ripe red berries, cinnamon, allspice, wet stone on the nose. There's a good amount of fruit on the palate, but the balance is off - too much acid, maybe alcohol too. I was fatigued after 1/2 glass. Hopefully time will bring some balance to this wine.

Pre-Concert Dinner at Aria (Aria Restaurant, Sydney): Young, but really nice. Smells like a Provencal summer day, very minerally, with a mixture of sandy accents and hot stony galet scents sprinkled with garrigue, savoury meat and dark fruited plums and dark cherries. Very nice. The palate was marked with fine, chewy tannins, really nice acidity for 2007, and fresh sour cherry fruit. Finish was tight, but had a fresh feel with a minerally tail. Still very tight, this was still a baby, but there was a lot to like. Went very well with out lamb dish as well.

The bottle was decanted using a Vinturi and left to breath for a further 20min before the first glass was poured. On the nose the first glass displayed meaty notes with a hint of raspberry. By the last glass 1.5 hrs later the meat notes had disappeared and hints of lavender had developed with the raspberry still evident.
Being a relatively new wine (2007) the colour was vibrant bright red and expected for the varietal.
On the palate a good structure of tannin to fruit albeit initially the fruit is a little subdued. The last glass showed that the fruit flavours including floral notes are there and well worth waiting for. I suggest another 2 years in the bottle will be well rewarded by bringing especially the floral noted forward. I would also suggest that by 2015 the wine will have past its useful life.
So in summary a good but not spectacular wine deserving of more time to show its true potential. 92 points

WOW! this is really good! gotten some great reviews and i can see why. really nice nose, lots of red berries. fresh, spicy but smooth, great balance. taste is rich, yet not too overpowering. strong plum flavour. pepper in the somewhat medium finish. and this is straight out the bottle into decanter and taste. my only concern is a tad much alcohol. but let it air for three hours, and it will be pure magic. will update then.
edit, great! a bit less alcohol, acid after decantin for 5 hours. im gonna leave it a day or two, as im sure this wine will be superior! this worked amazingly well to chicken risotto.

92 points
