Fair bit of evolution since last bottle - this was heavier, with fuller herbal and cut vegetable notes and less fruit; earthy notes starting to come through. It was popular at the table but I thought it needed more time at this stage ***(*)

PnP. Still silvery straw colour. Has same reasonably ripe nose of lemon and slight stonefruit with some chopped herb and colourful vegetable notes. The profile is a little less ethereal than previously - the wine has out on a bit of weight but not yet evolved much further (just picking up a touch of honeyed feeling). Still great balance and freshness. Think will be better again now in a year or two. ****

Shimmering gold, green hue color...somewhat intriguing nose at first of canned green beans, limestone chalk, dried honey, smoked herbs, peach/pear marmalade. The canned veggie thing is not repulsive like it can be, but does blow off, yet there is still a mineral funk to it...which I like! Definitely richer and riper in fruit than the 14's that I've been drinking...pittted orchard fruits, with zesty citrus and TONS of minerality! Salty, funky, chalky minerals...reminds me of Vatan! Great interplay with the riper fruit and the fresh lemony acid...slight tropical in the fruits as well...but MAN-o-MAN the geology is where it's at!! Love this!

Much better showing than the other TNs on CT indicated. Certainly a bruiser and indeed quite subtle, HUGE minerality (esp saline character which is particularly obvious on the nose), nice core of white fruit, hints of citrus, nicely acidic. Paired really well with a dish of brik with melted goat cheese and tapenade (black olive paste).

WineFanatic Loire Offline (Vancouver, BC): Pale lemon, almost clear in colour. Very muted on the nose at first (although was served too cold). After it warmed up in the glass a bit, nose offered hints of citrus and minerality. Similar on the palate with decent acid but not much going on. A little hot on the finish. Disappointing at this stage but this should develop and put on some weight with time. Average. 84+

I frankly wouldn't be able to guess how ageworthy this would be based on its character right now other than it being amazingly fresh and bright on day 3 (after sitting out on the counter with no cork). Tarragon, sweet melon and lime. Rich & full with lemon and tarragon on the palate. A little watery @ mid but fattened up a bit by day 3. Medium long. Pretty subtle wine right now.
Opened a 1988 of the same wine on this night and it was corked.

Aromas of sweet canned fruits, gooseberries, smoke, linoleum, crab meat and some wood. Fruity, intense and quite tart on the palate. Great Sancerre.

Pushing the SB ripeness envelope for me, apple and mango, long rocky finish, ready. Not as vervy as other 08 Cotats B
