Owen Roe DuBrul Vineyard Vertical Tasting (My House): Another crowd favorite and certainly near the top for me. Again, big masses of lush black fruit, silky texture, and sweet dark chocolate on the finish. Touches of wood and earth as well. Drinking spectacularly right now.

This wine makes me question the formula for computing the drinking window here on CT. Because this wine is NOT over the hill. This wine is in prime drinking window, and I'd say for at least another couple of years. Rich, but softening. Layers of fruit, nice touches of earthy cocoa, and tannins so fine they are like glass.

This wine is absolutely delightful. It is hard not to keep sipping. Opened, poured and drank half the bottle. The next day it was even better. Huge fruit profile, juicy, delicious. My last one. It will age another ten years easily.

An aging but solid wine. Full of blueberry and stone, old-worldish, with nice lift in the nose of blackberry and asphalt. Drink soon, but still all there.

I did not think this wine was over the hill or past prime as others have posted. It is a delicious cab with very good fruit. I am glad I have two more.

Older Washington State Wines: Terrible and past peak. Last bottle was great but this is port like on the palate. No acid and smoke and minerals dominate. This confirms to me drink all Washington State Cabs within five years of vintage.

: Aged Washington Cabs/Blends (Anna's, Mpls): The wine has a very "mellow" mouth feel-- it's well past it's peak drinking window. Has suggestions of a port wine. This tasting suggested to the group that the current Washington wines should be drunk younger than might be expectedl. I'd like to hear of other's opinions on this.

Aged Washington Cabs/Blends (Anna's, Mpls): Purple red color. Aerated and 15 minute decant. Followed 1 glass over an hour. Meaty, scorched earth, blackberry. The palate is out of balance with fruit fading and alcohol and oak in your face. As I had suspected several years ago, this was on the decline. Over the hill.

I gave this about 2-3 hours of air before drinking it. First sips - before food - were beautiful. With a moroccan spiced lamb stew the alcohol came forward a bit or I might have scored it even higher. This is my only bottle, but as far as I can tell, it's drinking just fine, hasn't fallen apart at all.
UPDATE - hmmm, now that I'm on the second glass, I had to double check the label to make sure I opened a Cab and not a Zin. Big fruit and big heat, but no secondary notes or any complexity. I like it, and I'm sticking with my assessment that it hasn't fallen apart, but I'm not sure it's going to get any better.

Amazing wine, took about an hour to open up but then just layers of complexity. Lots of cherry, raspberry and currants. Underneath there was some spice that finished with a bit of cedar.

A wine among many imbibed in an evening including a 1990 Haut Brion en Mag. The balance of oak and fruit was superb. Great effort from my favorite winery. made me proud (again).

Minneapolis Wine Club Mixed Bag of Higher End Reds: Nice wine and groups wine of the night. Cherry, spice, forest floor and raspberries. Good acidity and still holding up well. Medium finish and the right balance of fruit and earth elements.

Minneapolis Wine Club does Big Reds (Braemer Golf Course): Dark red purple. Nose shows cassis, cherry, spice, cedar, earth and some floral qualities. Nice on the palate, but the tannins are slightly sharp and the finish is just a bit off. This seemed to deteriorate over the evening making me think this is a drink sooner than later wine. 92- pts.

Minneapolis Wine Club does US Cabs; 4/18/2010-4/21/2010 (Shari's House): On the nose leather, spice, cherry and pepper. Very complex palate with leather, spices, pepper, and oak. Still tannic and decanted for 3 hours. This wine is drinking really well and should age nicely for 10 plus years.

Medium deep black cherry red, nose of cassis, herbs, berries with a saline streak- lush, plush, velvety mouthfeel, but good acid - powdery background tannins-rich blackcurrant fruit, a bit oaky, but not obtrusive - tasty, if a bit too soft.

Decanted 30 min. An amazingly rich and luscious wine, with lots of earthy blueberry and cherry fruit. Smooth tannins, fully integrated and so easy to drink right now. A spicy chocolate finish rounds this out nicely. My first taste of the 2003, and I'm totally blown away.

Really liked this a lot. One of my favorite Washington producers. Silky soft tannins will a velvety touch of cherry, blueberry and vanilla. Oak held together nicely, still needs a few more years but nice to drink

My first one of several bottles. Big but very balanced with lots of fruit. Nice cherry, blueberry and currant with a little bit of spice. An outstanding wine that brings it all together.

Love this wine. Have had this four times now and it has been 8 months since my last bottle. Still too young. I expect it drinking great in another 5-8 years. Black cherry and chocolate. Very sophisticted and elegant. A great buy

This wine has a very dark garnet color. It has an aroma that's reminiscent of blackberries, toffee, some notes of vanilla notes and brown sugar. It is medium- to full-bodied, very fruit-driven with some sweet tannins. It has an impressive finish. There is no mistaking this for an old world wine.

Decanted 3 hr’s. Rich nose of red currant and spice with a dash of powdered chocolate. Big, red currant and plum flavors with some mocha at the core along with a hint of vanilla and oak spice. Balanced with a nice mineral underpinning with smooth, full, and thick tannins that turn slightly chalky at times and a solid, lingering finish. Excellent Washington Cab that should cellar well for years, but can be enjoyed now with 2+ hr’s decant.
