Custard oak, lemon, pineapple, grapefruit, pear, woody spices, and white flowers on the nose.
In the mouth, the flavours are all about sour lemon, grapefruit, passionfruit, and grilled nuts. The wine has a spicy mouthfeel, but also a very taut and unforgiving prickly acidity. The fruit fans across the palate, but ultimately lacks freshness and ends with a drying, bitter sensation.
Opinion: Interesting and alluring nose, but the palate is looking a bit tired and flat. Drink up now.

13.2% alc. Pale straw-yellow with flecks of gold. Toasty, spicy French oak and grapefruit on nose. Grilled nuts and passionfruit add intrigue. Nutty, grapefruit and pear flavour. Tight acid and penetrating length.
Opinion: Lovely 8yo chardonnay. Doesn’t appear to have moved much since release. Perhaps softened, but developed?? Check again in a couple of years.

Well, another bottle and another view. This second bottle was pristine and elegant and harmonious and all together beautiful. Grapefruit, melon, white peach, cashew, vanilla, cinammon. The flavour so long. Layers of flavour. Wow.

Light golden yellow, showing restrained but complex aromas of peach, pear, citrus fruits, smoky oak and a hints of crushed stone. Rounded mouthfeel with tart acidity, ripe pear, citrus, toasted oak and hints of spice on palate. Aged 12 months in French barrel, 40% but the oak has now mellow down and more integrated compare to last tasted 2 years ago. Good medium+ finish.

Straw colour. A very spicy aroma, with florals, grapefruit and citrus also. The flavour is also quite spicy, with ginger and cloves evident, but also lemon, grapefruit and hints of stone fruit. Creamy texture. Good length. I gotta say, given the extraordinary reviews, I probably expected more. It's very good, but not as good as I was hoping. Maybe a case of too high an expectation....?
Right in the drinking window, I reckon. Can't see it improving much.

Numerous experience already with this wine but the first attempt at some qualitaitve opinion. Pale yellow, deceivingly light in colour. But what a nose; intensity of stone and fruit with a lovely touch of yeast. Zesty on the palate with a nice nuttiness about it. I swear that this was close to a Fontaine Gagnard Chassagne Montrachet Caillerets 2002 had a couple of nights back so this was no slouch with a price ratio of 3:1! The acidity was decent giving the wine a nice balance. At the finish, a hint of heat, perhaps the key betrayal of a new world white. Finisih was a little short, the other disappointment on an otherwise lovely mouthfeel. At this price point, thie wine is still punching above its weight. I would buy this by the case.

Shwoing great development on both the nose and palate. The nose opens into plenty of fruit along the grapefruit and nectarine path, with some nashi pear in the background. Then the development comes with some time in the glass - jersey caramels, butterscotch lollies, cream and some nuttiness. The palate is showing softened acid but great length on the finish, with cashew, butterscotch and some tree fruit on the front palate. A fine example of Aussie Chardonnay.

Pale straw coloured with a powerful, aromatic nose of ripe pear and buttery hazelnut. Quite full and round but with a nice acidic backbone giving it some freshness, the fruit is ripe and buttery with a little smokiness and a tasty nutty finish.

Glad to be trying this wine again within a six month period. No doubt 2007 as a vintage in Margaret River will be the stuff of stories to my unborn grandchildren. I am getting home runs from a large majority of established labels from this year. The wine is providing all the butterscotch, caramel, pear, vanilla bean and grandma`s marzipan that made me fall in love the first time, but with an extra six months, the flavor profile is broadening - as it should but faster than I had expected it to. The wine is in it`s window now - no problem for me at all but surprised by this so soon. How long to go - another 3-5 will do the trick I think.
The devil on my shoulder whispers to me that maybe the wine needs a fraction more prevailing acid, but maybe I am being too fastideous about it.
Always amazed to note that the cost of this wine is precisely half of the cost of Leeuwin Art Series Chardonnay in Singapore and deserves a seat at the same table without doubt. For this reason I am giving it a higher than expected rating at this point in its life and mine.

Restrained nose, slightly floral, perhaps some nougat. Melon, grapefruit, stone fruit, some pear, toasty oak on the palate, smooth creamy texture. Grapefruit and acid dominated on first night, had largely settled down after half the bottle had spent a night in the fridge, to become more balanced. Score may seem harsh but I would willingly cross several busy streets blindfolded to avoid fresh melons and grapefruit, so don't much enjoy their presence in a wine.

Tasted blind next to an 05 Leeuwin Estate Art Series and 07 Principia Chardonnay. This was the least preferred wine on the night amongst all of us. Understandably lacking depth compared with the LEAS, and lacking individuality compared to the Principia. It was good, but didn't seem to possess that wow factor. Glad I tried it, but I wont be buying more.
