  • Screwcap. Brilliant gold colour.

Custard oak, lemon, pineapple, grapefruit, pear, woody spices, and white flowers on the nose.

In the mouth, the flavours are all about sour lemon, grapefruit, passionfruit, and grilled nuts. The wine has a spicy mouthfeel, but also a very taut and unforgiving prickly acidity. The fruit fans across the palate, but ultimately lacks freshness and ends with a drying, bitter sensation.

Opinion: Interesting and alluring nose, but the palate is looking a bit tired and flat. Drink up now.

  • 13.2% alc. Pale straw-yellow with flecks of gold.
Toasty, spicy French oak and grapefruit on nose. Grilled nuts and passionfruit add intrigue.
Nutty, grapefruit and pear flavour. Tight acid and penetrating length.

Opinion: Lovely 8yo chardonnay. Doesn’t appear to have moved much since release. Perhaps softened, but developed?? Check again in a couple of years.

  • Well, another bottle and another view. This second bottle was pristine and elegant and harmonious and all together beautiful. Grapefruit, melon, white peach, cashew, vanilla, cinammon. The flavour so long. Layers of flavour. Wow.

  • Light golden yellow, showing restrained but complex aromas of peach, pear, citrus fruits, smoky oak and a hints of crushed stone.
Rounded mouthfeel with tart acidity, ripe pear, citrus, toasted oak and hints of spice on palate. Aged 12 months in French barrel, 40% but the oak has now mellow down and more integrated compare to last tasted 2 years ago. Good medium+ finish.

  • Straw colour. A very spicy aroma, with florals, grapefruit and citrus also. The flavour is also quite spicy, with ginger and cloves evident, but also lemon, grapefruit and hints of stone fruit. Creamy texture. Good length. I gotta say, given the extraordinary reviews, I probably expected more. It's very good, but not as good as I was hoping. Maybe a case of too high an expectation....?

Right in the drinking window, I reckon. Can't see it improving much.
