Youthful color but with a decidedly mature bouquet- subtle orchard fruit and citrus notes with a dominant butterscotch note. Medium-bodied, tasting better than it smells, with apple, almond, citrus and mineral. Tart acidity. Mature, but not as advanced as the bouquet. This was our penultimate bottle so we will queue up the last in the relatively near term.

Served blind. Waxy, buttery, slightly oxidised with toast, honey, stone fruit, quite rich. Medium plus intensity acidity is a little sharp, lemon, textured, alcohol warmth. I guessed 1er cru meursault 2007

I wish I had a lot more in the cellar. Still shows a touch of oak on the nose but there is so much more with lemon, flowers, caramel and green apple. Palate is so viscous yet balanced and finish is very long. Gorgeous now and will get better.

My final bottle of this from those bought back in 2010. This bottle last night was beautiful, coiled with lemony acidity, some light oak and spicy, yet all in balance with the kind of energy that I really appreciated. No signs of premox here and it's aging beautifully.

Blind: Guessed French, chardonnay, and cote de beaune. This really showed well. Nose shows there's some oak influence, caramel and delicious. Complex palate between the fruit, spice, and acidity. Yellow apple initially but lemon and light lime as it warmed up. excellent.

Blind guessed white burgundy. Have not clue about producers or classifications. A little surprised that this was '08 as it's extremely bright and fresh. No green meanies here. There's a flint note which hinted towards burg. Medium acidity. This added complexity with some glass time. Very nice.

Just over three years since the last bottle and there is no sign of pre-mox here. Clean, pure. Floral, flint, green apple. As it warms, seemed to get some pear flavor, too. The balance on this was excellent.

Nose: This took a slight bit to open up, but as it did it revealed roasted nuts, flint, limes, almonds, and lemon curds.
Taste: Medium/full bodied with medium+ acdidity. The feel is layered and balanced with roasted nuts, almonds, lemon curds, and a touch of flinty notes on the back end.
Overall: This seemed a bit premature at first, but it pulled back and opened up beautifully.

Medium yellow in color. Lovely nose of yellow citrus zest, nut oils, crushed sea shells and stones. A medium bodied palate follows through with chalk, lemon curd, hazelnuts, good mid-palate sap and acidity, well integrated oak and a long mineral laden and linear finish.

4th Saturday group "uptown" tasting (Our house): Muted; subtle aromas of lemon and mineral but not much else. There's some nice fruit on the palate, though here too it seems tight- lemon and stone fruit, with a nice mineral undertone. Didn't really open up at all over the next few hours.
This was either very closed or slightly off in some way that was undetectable. I just have a hard time believing it could be so closed that it didn't open at all in the few hours we spent with it.

had at my wife's 50th bday dinner in Bora Bora, what an experience, the wine stood up well to the view (which is saying a lot), good acid, good citrus fruits as i expected, some of the Bouchard richness but just enough (i suspect the '08 vintage created the balance necessary), fantastic, looked for more immediately and perhaps not surprisingly it wasn't available in the US

Beautiful creamyish Meursault with a citrusy note. Still quite bracing with plenty of acid. The style I prefer and the reason I bought the 08 white burgundies. Given the relatively short life of much modern white burgundy, it is with some caution that I say this wine has as much as a decade of tasty life left it in.

Pale color with a lovely bouquet of white fruit, forals and oak with a minerally undertone. Fear not- the oak is nicely balanced and adds depth rather than overpower anything. Balanced, with mineral and orchard fruit flavors and a nice finish. Nice, but best to hold off a few years on these. Check back in 2018+.

I opened this last night, took to a dinner (and paired it with an 07 Sauzet Champ Canet). With a day of air (no decant) and enjoying now without any food and a light chill, some of the oak I mentioned last year is still hanging around, both in a toasted note in the aromatic and also in a brulee-like lemon note and touch of butterscotch. Aside from the oak, what is really enjoyable, beautiful is the palate, which comes off in lemon peel, yellow apple, slate and really terrific acidity of lemon-lime and mint. I'll let my last 2 bottles sit for another 18 months and try the next one in 2014. Just really good white burg here, classy.

In the bouquet minerals and some nutty flavors, citrus and not an overdose of dominant oak. On the palate spreading through the mouth; some butter, now the oak shows in a nice way, tropical fruits, some caramel as well as nuts. Minerals as well and a great length. A beautiful and complex wine.

Rich nose showing more pineapple and tropical notes than your typical 08 WB. The palate is also richer and more lush showing some minerals but overall lacking cut and intensity on the medium length finish. Just ok and not going to be very long lived.

This spent an hour or so in the decanter. Pronounced nose of lemon, minerals, floral and hints of orchard fruit. In the mouth this is perfectly balanced with its weight, flavours and acidity all being flawlessly in sync. There’s a lot of everything here but doesn’t go overboard. Long and fresh finish with minerality and loads of acid. This was open for business tonight but should be fun to follow over 5-7+ years. Excellent. 92+

The nose was a melange of peach, almonds, lemon, with small hints of guava, quince and honey. Medium bodied and having good weight, this was classic Meursault. The fullness is balanced by the ample acidity that never becomes too tart but is enough to give the wine enough lift from becoming flabby. The palate was excellent as the balance of the wine carried the full flavors with a seemingly balerina like grace that is not found in a lot of fuller bodied chardonnay wines. Paired with butter poached lobster recipe from Thomas Keller.

I enjoyed this bottle more this time than the one earlier this year. While there is a toasted oak aromatic in the wine, the fruit and balance is terrific, with lots of lemon and good acidity, a subtle yet lively palate. This ought to age great and once some of the barrel notes settle in, I hope it can beat any premox concerns. Will drink the next one in late 2012 and I'll buy more if I can get easy access to it.

Holiday wines (mainly Burg with some fizz); 7/29/2011-8/17/2011: A youngster, but one with promise. Pale greeny light straw. Very mineral, limey nose with some intensity. Precision and focus on the palate from the crisp attack to the chalky-textured mid-palate to the long finish. Just starting to show some of the weight one might expect but still tight and only just hinting at its future complexity. Really good and a snip at 40 something euros on a Novotel list. ***(*)

Pinots, Riesling, Dim Sum and Duck (Asia Grand, Odeon Towers): Unlike the previous bottle, this had the benefit of a little air and a was served at just about the right temperature, which could explain way it was a clear notch up in standard. Really nice stuff. It had a lovely nose, with dollops of light cream, white fruit, gentle flowery and a bit of macadamia nuttines. Lovely balance and poise on the palate, almost a feminine Meursault if possible, with some strength no doubt, but also with a definite sense of elegance and finesse to its creamy flavours of white fruit, nuts and a long finish with hints of flower, mineral and spice. Solid stuff, very charming.

Welcoming Adam to Singapore (Luke's Oyster Bar, Gemmil Road, Singapore): Still a very good wine, but not quite as good as the last bottle of this wine that we had. Could be because we did not give this enough time to open up and strut its stuff. Still, a enjoyed this. Lovely nose showed a little layer of cream and butter, some aromas of fleshy white fruit, and then apples, pears a bit of melons and a whiff of nuts at the edge. Very Meursault and very nice. The palate was lovely too. Rich but balanced, with almond nuts on the attack, a touch of buttery cream and rich white fruit on the midpalate. The finish had very nice length, with a bit of toast and a little waft of flowers. One day later, the rich creaminess had slimmed down somewhat, and the remaining couple of glasses started showing a really nice streak of minerality and spice. A very nice wine.

Double Birthday Celebration for Fiona and Me (Oversea Restaurant, Shaw Towers): Very young, but boy was this yummy. Beautiful nose. There was a little layer of oak, but beyond that it had beautiful floral notes, lovely white fruit, a spread of cream and lots of mineral and light honeycomb notes. So pretty. Lovely palate too. There was a nice amount of creamy, buttery Meursault richness, but what I noticed most was how it was so incredibly drinkable with its perfectly integrated acidity, little layers of cream fraiche, gentle lemons flavours and fleshy stone fruit notes, nectarine maybe. All super fresh and lively, the wine danced around the mouth all the way into a lightly honeyed finish with more perfumy florals, all the while with a nice minerality playing away in the background. Deliciously round, broad, generous and very pretty. This was impossible not to like. Wonderful now, I can only imagine how good it will be given some age - if, that is, I can keep my hands off them.

White flowers, nuts and crysanthemum nose. Rich, slightly buttery fatty round palate with tinge of roasted caramel.

Paul and Fiona combined bday celebrations; 4/3/2011-4/5/2011 (Overseas restaurant): A lil vanillin cream wafer and nice acid mineral acidity. Broader rounder approach of creamy lemony buttery fresh lemon tarts. Great ageability. A streak of mineral freshness lifts it too.

Man, did this drink great. It needed an hour or so of air and then the minerality and balance really came forward. Lots of lemon acidity and a great texture, with a touch of opulence. Really good.

The nose has some white peach, white flowers and nougat. There’s a lovely textured mouthfeel and flavours of honeysuckle and peach are cut by searing grapefruit acidity.

Bouchard / Fèvre / Henriot Tasting (The Wine Cellar Club - Irvine, CA): Subtle and restrained with delicate aromas of white flowers, melon, citrus, and stones. An elegant entry to the palate leads to explosive citrus and floral fruit. Very dense and long with bracing minerality and effortless texture. You have to love the floral elegance and beautiful texture of this wine.

BBR 2008 Burgundy tasting: This was better than the Bouchard Pere Perrieres, but I'm still not exactly overwhelmed.
