On PnP, agree with most notes below. Lotsa acid present on initial taste, with cola, blackberry/raspberry fruits dominant over the 14.1% alcohol. WRN is IMO the best of WS bottlings, and tends to integrate nicely after 10 years or so. Let's see in an hour.
After 30 mins in the glass, dramatic improvement. Spices, nutmeg and cola, with nicely integrated acids now. Almost weightless, and juicy with the acids.
Open an hour now, and delicious, juicy and long, long finish. Classic WRN bottling. Years to go, but ready now. Raising rating to 93 from 90.

This bottle seemed in better shape than the previous we drank in 2020, even if the cork disintegrated and we had to strain and decant and strain again. As with the earlier bottle, t still quite focused and evolved. Blackberry-raspberry fruit, spice, just some oak, some black truffle. Tonight the cola notes were really singing.

P&p. Aromas of peppery/radishy/earthy spice, mushroom, and darkish fruit that seems a bit raisiny and over-aged, but not bad overall. Similar on the palate; comes across as a little over the hill and lacking in vitality, but still enjoyable, with some fun tertiary character coming through. Some significant oak signature, but cohesive with the whole and works well enough. Drink now.

Brilliant nose with the perfumed aromatics of a right bank Bordeaux, lush at the start, with a finish that doesn't linger quite as much as one might like. Subtle tones of cherry and licorice, black berry and wood smoke.

Oh my. This was old burgundy. Strawberries and charcuterie on the nose. Those flavored carried through on the palate, with some structure and soft tannins rounding things out. It went so fast. Blew the '11 Rochioli Little Hill it was up against out of the water. So nice. Drink now or hold for maybe another year or so.

Just singing, with about an hour decant. Dark for a Pinot, pretty color. expressive nose of cherries and raspberries. Very balanced palate, lots of raspberries, strawberries and some cherries, but with a decent backbone. Long finish. Pairs with grilled salmon, was perfect. Glad I waited a bit.

750ml; PnP; drank over a couple hours; I really like where this wine is at - bing cherry fruit is prevalent in the right amount. The fruit, tannins, spice, and acidity have reached great balance, and the wine is smooth with a bit of velvety texture. I am sad that I am out of the 2008 vintage and need to wait on the 2010s.

Reading some of the other posts, its pretty clear their are different strokes for different folks. Many recent notes say that the fruit is fading, but I think that is one of the reasons we enjoyed it. Clearly CA pinot, but not as big as many can be. The fruit is dark in tone more than red. Somewhat soft and silky, with some black tea, faint earth and bitter dark chocolate tones (Ann thought coffee?). Nothing really stands out and its not extremely complex but it is easy drinking. 14.1% alc. Perhaps a bit overpriced. Paired with grilled salmon.

Annual Tasting Group Holiday Party (Porter Creek, Mpls, MN): Tasting pour. Pretty clearly Cali, but not over the top, a touch on the sweeter side, a bit syrupy, berry, strawberry, nose and palate, very fruity, some tartness balances out the sweet fruits. Medium body and a nice finish.

Brought to a dinner. Decanted for an hour at home. By the time we got to this bottle it had been opened some 3 or 4 hours total. Pretty much a shoo-in for California based upon color alone. Baking spices, mix of red and black fruits with a slight tartness to it (think cranberry). Nicely balanced and drinking pretty well at this point.

This is a perfect wine for a typical Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner (i.e., turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, cranberry, etc.). The ever-present baking spices, especially clove and nutmeg, give an impression of robustness despite the delicate pinot-ness that the wine actually has. Structurally, the wine is sound and balanced, but this "illusion" of grandeur can be put to use against a hearty holiday dinner while some pinots would wilt in the face of the variety and indulgence of such a spread.
Other flavors are consistent with my previous tasting notes, so I won't repeat them.

- Brick color - Nose of dark fruit and earth, with a whiff of alcohol. Dark fruits, spice, and cola on the palate, with a medium length finish. This is a nice wine, but probably not worth the price. The RRV and Central Coast bottlings are as good at a lower price and this costs even more than some of the single vineyards. That said, this is also better than 08's that cost much more. Will hold, but in a nice spot to drink now.

Vanilla and dark berry fruits on the nose, with some faint licorice and cola olfactory stimulation. A fruit-forward flavor profile, dominated by blackberry, strawberry, raspberry, and some soft cherry. The pleasingly soft and lush front end is backed up by decent oak, mineral, and tannic structure. A very nice wine in a troublesome vintage.

vanilla and some floral notes on the nose; brooding black cherry/raspberry that is muted somewhat by prominent oak and vanilla; reasonable acidity; some black tea on the finish; plenty going on but this hasn't blossomed for me; will hold further bottles to see if this can come together and lighten up.

This wine is translucent ruby and lightens in color to the rim. This seemed really tight and needed plenty of air to get it going. The nose was strawberry, black olive, and sweet floral aroma. It tasted of cherry and strawberry with mushroom earth and tea notes. The tannins are perceptible but very slight. This was the lightest Pinot Noir in the lineup today.

Wine Flock California Pinot Noir 2001-2008 (Dennis' Place on Erie): More purple color than the rest. Candy cane nose, cinnamon, and Red Hots (the candy). Little cured meaty savory play. Deli meat. Not too smoky though. Totally cinnamon dominated - can't get that out of my head. Touches of burnt tire as well. The palate is rich and weighty. Darker fruit. Less meaty. Still so much cinnamon and all spice. Anise, and still that burnt rubber. Solid and unique terroir driven bottling. A great grab at forty bones.

Sexy nose of red fruit, and forest brambles. Reminded me of a Central Otago pinot....Palate had dusty red fruit with subtle old world earthen flavors. The silkiness of the palate was really great, and for a pop and pour, it showed far better than I would have guessed.

Very accessible. Would be happy to serve to any group with almost any food. Tastes "good" and is good. A perfect restaurant choice, if you have the $$. Clean fruit, some weight, acidity, smooth. Not really much else, for good or ill. Makes me more confident that my other WS wines will be reliably good for special occasions. Less confident that they will be super "interesting", but haven't tried the single-vineyard wines, yet.

Other flavors are consistent with my previous tasting notes, so I won't repeat them.

Similar experience to my previous note on 17 May 2013. This time I detected a hint of mulling spices, and there was less red berry fruit in exchange for some blueberry.

Terrific wine. Deep fruit, complex, refreshing--a lot going on here. Compared favorably to the 2008 Alysian Rochioli River Block pinot served with the same meal.

This bottle was part of a vertical tasting that included the Westside Neighbors offerings from 2008, 2009 and 2010. All of these were outstanding - and for the most part, seemed very consistent with each other.

Violets and cedar mingle on the nose. This wine is superbly integrated with a fantastic, soft mouth-feel and a lingering finish. Notes of vanilla and currant join the violets and cedar for an outstanding pinot.

Great aromatics! Color, fading a bit at the rim. Good fruit but missing the lift and expressiveness I expect from WS. By no means bad, just note outstanding. In a Burgundian dumb stage?

This wine gave a very good to excellent showing with no real captivating elements. The wine shows good overall balance and structure with well defined aromatics and medium length finish on the palate. This drinks well now and is most likely at or around its peak.
