Rich, perfumed and juicy nose. Cinnamon spice. Full and round palate. Balance. Chewy tannins. Flavours of sweet black cherry. Excellent length. Modest acidity.

Wow! This is ready to go but even better after 1 hr decant. In a perfect spot right now and so well balanced. Drank over 7 hours and started to fade around hour 6. I assume this will stay in it's current spot for another 3-5 years..

A private tasting (at home): Tasted blind. Good depth and nuance, beautiful nose, classic Pomerol, flowing style, ripe and sweet fruit, spice and truffle, black tea, medium weight, well-integrated creamy tannins, lovely balance and length. Intensity and finesse, attractive, excellent.

Svår att betygsätta eftersom den är märklig de första 90 minuterna i glaset... Det som händer därefter är fantastiskt - förtjänar då ett högre betyg. Jag upplever att Cab Franc är rätt tydligt.

Popped and poured. The nose was musky with mushroom, big black currant, violets and blue fruit. The palate was rich with some complexity. The black and blue fruit on the palate were expressed nicely. This wine was slightly more on the modern side but its drinking so beautifully now. Good from now and the next 10 years.

Really nice. Strong and powerful with a silky smooth feel. Good dark fruit with good acid, good grip, excellent balance. Dark fruit but very energetic with a strong finish. This wine is drinking well and has a long way to go. No rush at all, another 10-15 years easy. Well done.

Expressive nose of mint, liquorice, spice, earth. First nose was full of lively black cherry. Velvet tannin, smooth structure, but not much touch of alcohol even 14% on the label. The aftertaste lingers subtly with notes of black berry, liquorice and some spices

Still going strong -- consistent with last bottle 5 months ago. Lots of blackberry, blueberry, toast, truffle, and chocolate. Dense and layered. Still has the acidic and tannic backbone to keep it going for several more years.

A really nice wine from Pomerol. Upon opening, the nose reminded me of a buttery berry muffin. The nose was addicting. The nose and palate exhibited jammy red fruits and a hint of toast. Long finish. Tannins well integrated. This wine is drinking extremely well and likely has 5+ years left. Glad I have more.

With a deep ruby hue, the wine offers a flamboyant perfume of chocolate covered black cherries, fresh herbs, plums and coffee. Sexy and suave in texture, this rich, plummy wine is drinking perfectly today. There is no reason to wait to pop a bottle.

2001 Right Bank at Wijn Antiquariaat (Amsterdam): Better than most Bon Pasteurs I had before. Very dark colour. Strong nose with creme de cassis and tabacco tones. Thick fruit, some 'kecap' on the palate. Coarse tannins in after taste - bit dry.

Beautiful dark garnet red in color. Black Cherry, vanilla, spice on nose and palate. A great food wine. Smooth but some nice acidity to pair with the homemade tomato sauce w poached eggs on tuscan style bread toasted on grill.

Expansive, broad, warm fruit with mellow oaky middle and soft dark flavors of espresso/coffee. Some floral notes round out the palate. Very very nice in a modern but not over the top style. This is a bit on the young side, although it is drinking well enough that it's not a crime to open now. The bit of mellow maturity hints at what it will become. Very nice. Drink now and for the next 10 years. B+

nose - densy, ink. Mouth - full bodied. plummy and other very ripe red fruits. Has a good mouthfeel. Per steve it has 'volcanic ash', which interpret to mean minerality. Strikes me as being somewhat heavily extracted, however.

Rich scent of dark fruits and loam. Even after careful decanting, there was an unusual amount of suspended sediment, making the wine turbid, opaque, and visually unappealing. Nothing wrong with the taste, however, with plenty of fruit and a nice combination of grip and finesse.

Perfumed, ripe fruit, the bouquet is quite similar to the [2001] Pavie Decesse. This even tastes more like St Emilion. Similar astringency but with a more robust finish.

Boinggg! What a wine! Enormously concentrated bouquet with mainly ripe and sweet cherries. There is really much to discover here. Cherries again, chocolate, coffee, leather, blood, cigar box etc. And all in an enormous concentration. There is quite much sweetness, but also well hidden tannin. Really a beauty, but for me a-typical Bordeaux. When it would have been given to me blind, I probably would have guessed a top Californian wine.

After 2 hours of slow aeration this wine showed at its best with a powerfull nose of ripe black fruit (Mûre, cerise noire, myrtille...) , mokka, leather and tobacco... It was quite long and fruity in the month. A truly great Pomerol that seldomly dissapoints. A must buy in Pomerol if you can find it!

2001 Bordeaux (Virginia): Part of a tasting of about a dozen 2001s... For me, there was something a bit volatile on the nose here. Cherry syrup. I wonder about the overall balance and long-term ageability... Just did not seem as well-constructed as most of the other wines today. Hmmm.

Mocha, herbs and charcoal on the lovely nose. Deep black fruit, blackberry, black cherry, liquor and lots of tannin. Wonderful and concentrated. More of an herbal quality than when tasted in June 2004. Obviously has lots of aging potential. Paired well with Blue Maytag blue cheese and with our dry-aged sirloin steaks (drizzled with melted blue cheese).

The color was a very young clear purple/red. The nose was very big showing lots of ripe fruit, smelling of plums. Clean attack and a medium/light body. Moderately tannic on the finish; will take a few years to come around. [Tasted at K&L].
