Some grippy tannin when I opened the bottle, but they loosened up after an hour or two of decanting. Over the course of the evening, the color turned from red to brown. Ripe cherry fruit with some saddle leather notes. Not a heavy wine, very enjoyable, but not a blockbuster.

Pronounced nose intensity with notes of ripe red fruits, red cherry, strawberry, toast, spices. Medium+ acidity and medium+ tannin. Tannin is polished and round. Long finish. Nose is superb. I think I have a good provenance bottle and hence the good experience.

Ficofi tasting- Wide open now. Floral nose with spice, herbs and sweet red fruit. Transparent and elegant on the palate but missing grand-cru weight and depth, which is always the case for Rousseau’s cdlr.

Couleur rubis avec reflets orangés. Nez très parfumé de fruits noirs et notes de terres humides. Bouche ample et juteuse pour le millésime avec des notes de fruits murs; belle droiture et longueur. Superbe.

PnP’ed. A bit reticent & unyielding on the nose. Seemed to be shutdown on the palate too. It was only after some aeration that it started to loosen up somewhat, offering some scents of spice & roses. Palate remained a tad unidimensional, abeit with good freshness. Will likely improve with more bottle age...

maybe it was me, or the wines had alongside, or even the big heat we were in up in NorCal over this weekend but this wine did not perform well... I am hoping its shut down a bit, and I certainly think it will benefit from more bottle age (wait 3-5 years for next), but this bottle had nice structure (both acid and tannin in quantity), it wasn't soft, but the fruit was modest at best and no spice or secondary elements as some others have suggested, perhaps the palate profile is hiding a touch behind the structure? anyway, had this over four nights (which is a sign in itself cuz we drank 14 bottles over this period and this was only finished on night four)

Bright ruby, nose has fresh raspberry jam, hint od herb and licorice. On palate, more fruit with sharp acidity, I would prefer more sweetness for balance. Tannin not intruding, maybe not for long haul. Better stick to Chambertin foe Rousseau?

Decanted two hours. Light and translucent red. Pretty wine with a nice and developing nose. The palate was singing with vibrant fruit and subtle depth. Beautiful integration and balance. This was somewhat tight at open, and best about three hours in. Still has years left, might well develop more panache, but a great drink tonight.

rating is for night two, this was very solid wine, med plus bodied with no overt softness but not super grippy - just right mouthfeel, fruit was there along with spice and nice cinnamon / textured spices, seemed like this showed its stuff on some sips and not on others, I think I should wait five more years before trying any more of my bottles

2008 Rousseau CDLR: Light and super elegant. Showed its class. Lots of strawberry flavours. Added a lot of complexity with a bit of time in the glass. Once shedding its puppy fat, this is be superb. A massive step-up vs. the 07 Rousseau CDLR, being much more a complete wine.

SLDS December 2015: Pepper, graphite, cherry and great high toned florals. Good spark from the acidity across its whole length. Good persistence and depth. Feels very clean and has the potential to age really well

Tasted at a La Paulee Lunch. Medium-dark garnet. Expressive nose of red fruit, cloves, earth. Spicy and a bit rustic on the palate, good aromatic presence and length. Tannins could be softer.

France soir a lunch Sth Yarra (Melbourne Vic): Lovely wine all silk and lace, very Rousseau. Very spice driven aroma with beautiful breadth and detail shows the oak a touch. Like inhaling a spring breeze it goes down so effortlessly. Maybe not the most complex Clos de La Roche I've seen from Rousseau but still a liquid work of art. Maybe 94 a bit generous but an extra point for being so damn drinkable!

popped and poured, always first want to know what a wine is showing in the glass without decanting......., a lot of earthy and spicy flavours in the nose, some redberrys, waited some time to let the wine develop in the glass, on the palate very concentrated, a lot of intense mineralic acidity, some pepper, a little mocha, red fruit, improved every hour a little more to a very balanced wine, after more than four hours smooth or better velvety swallowing, long+ finish, needs some more years in the cellar, 89- 93+?

An absolute knockout. So, so young, but absolutely thrilling right now. An incredible fragrance from the second the cork's pulled, and remarkable depth on the palate with incredibly pure Pinot fruit, higher toned floral and spicy accents and more savoury earthy and brothy elements coming together seamlessly. There's a sense of real power here, but at the same time a wonderful finesse and polish to the flavours and amazing persistence.

Opened and decanted for about a half hour. Brilliant garnet colour. Nose at first was reserved, not showing much. After about an hour it really opened up. Lovely Pinot Noir high-toned red berry fruit as well as dark berries, violets, some tar and leather notes. On the palate a rather lighweight mouthfeel, delicate actually. Floral tasting, cherry with hints of underbrush. Lovely pronounced acid backbone giving this structure. On the finish a cedar note leading to a pronounced dryness. What strikes me is that this does not taste as young as it actually is. I was concerned of of opening this too early but it turned out to be absolutely lovely, mostly because it is empeccably balanced in all aspects. Nonetheless, will open next bottle in 2 years at the earliest. If it gains a little more weight with time my rating will definetely go up.

Very spicy on the nose, with a lot of pepper that almost reminds me of syrah. Intensity of fruit here, with smoothness, but a lot of acidity too. Mr. Eric Rousseau thinks 08 will be an early drinking vintage. A beautiful wine, very pleasing, shows the vintage and the terroir; not super dark in color, but rather what it should be; in a virtual dead heat with the Rousseau Clos de Beze for top wine of this tasting. 94
