  • Exceptional wine. Fruit is sweet and expressive, so elegant and pure. Just totally delivered tonight, really special.

  • 10/09/05/03/02/00/98/90 vertical -- among my favorites in the vertical given the combination of power, complexity and intense spice though not as ready / complete as the 2010 or quite as profound as the 2005.

  • La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): My table's 8 vintage vertical at La Paulée. Big, powerful, and brawny, still with some awkwardness as it fully integrates. Just so much of everything here. I think all us preferred the 2010 for now, but I think this will be the better wine. but I will not touch my bottles until 2029 or later.

  • DRC Duel Chez Moi (Grands Echezeaux, La Tache, Romanee Conti) (My home): Dark garnet. Nose of stem, lavender and mint. Less pronounced than when I drank this wine last year if more subtle. Palate of gamey red fruit, mint, chocolate. After two hours significant spice emerged - our guest thought it reminded him of DRC Richebourg. 15 second finish. WOTN and bested the '11 Romance Conti and just slightly edged out the '06 La Tache as per consensus. Bit tannic.

  • 00880/12471. Consistent with last bottle, incredibly perfumed, rose with a touch of stem, perfect clarity. Sweet and so deep. Classic and very resolved DRC. 95

  • Green stems, flowers, sweet red currant, violets and spice. It blossoms in the glass with concentrated and sweet red fruit. The wine has excellent structure and plenty of mid-palate stuffing that would clearly benefit from further cellaring.

  • Very one dimensional and not complex at all. Great source but maybe the bottle in light of others comments. utterly disappointing. Ian and Chase agreed.

  • A lost Friday afternoon gathering – Champagne and Burgundy (Blacksalt, Washington DC): Youthful yet complex nose displaying concentrated opulent red fruit with a hint of black, cherry, cherry pie, strawberry and rhubarb tart, rose. Vosne spice, Chinese herbal medicine, nutmeg, oolong tea, raw cep and earth. The DRC stem is very pronounced. Exceptional concentration, layers upon layers of perfectly ripe opulent red fruit, rich yet polished and beautifully detailed, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a seamless long concentrated red fruit driven finish with stem and rose at the end. Although youthful, this is quite complex. Absolutely beautiful showing.

  • Only my second time drinking a DRC. Fungal, gunsmoke, black tea nose which was more herbal initially. Totally unique nose and immediately brought me back to my fist experience with DRC a number of years ago (2000 Echezeaux). The palate was expressive showing green stem, wood, violets. Second and third taste brought out more red fruit and strawberry with a 20 second finish ending in a pop of intense sweetness. Both my wife and I thought this was the best Pinot we’ve ever drank, but i can only imagine how their rarer cuvees would be. 95-96

  • 10079/12471. This is a superb GE, very resolved with pinching spice and precision. Minty goodness with a touch of wood. Palate is broad and precise. 95

  • Special nose of red cherry, sandalwood and spice. Rich fruit complemented by a stemmy, spicy palate that has a lot of texture and grip. Well done.

  • First Zoom tasting - Burgundy (Mi Casa): Wine 5
Another wine that is clearly DRC but showing slightly less stem and more Vosne spice. Beautiful youthful nose displaying perfectly ripe red fruit, strawberry jam, raspberry, cherry, a hint of stem, Vosne spice, Chinese herbal medicine, oolong tea, rose and mineral. Perfectly harmonious palate, very finely layered perfectly ripe red fruit, rich yet silky and fluid, perfect amount of acidity and mineral, and a seamless long sweet red fruit driven finish with stem and perfume at the end. Showing incredibly finesse and balance. My guess it the 10 DRC Echezeaux based on more red fruit and refinement.

  • La Paulée de New York Gala Dinner (Pier Sixty, Chelsea Piers - New York NY): Small glass, brief note. From magnum. Massive spice, nearly overwhelming, this will needs plenty of time in the cellar to show its full potential, but there is so much great stuff here.

Noe frukt. Kort. Syre som spriker.
    82
Etter to timer transformasjon på duft. Noe granbar og rødfrukt. 89.

  • At first it’s all sexy, spicy nose. Then it begins to slowly evolve on palate—black fruits, spicy, succulent. Wonderful rusticity. Needs another 4-5 years to show more fully I think.

  • Commander’s Palace. Massive spice box aromas of clove, nutmeg, & cinnamon. A bit of raw young red fruit on the palate which picks up nice depth with each sip. Long spice finish. Still a baby, yet screams breed & class. Long finish & very giving with a dry edgy finish. Needs time, yet very pleasurable even now. Could be 96 in time.

  • Beautiful and drinking surprisingly well. Medium-intense cherry nose and a rich, concentrated palate of well-proportioned dark fruit. Deep, complex, and layered with structure to age. A clear step up from the '09 Echezeaux.

  • Aired 3 hours in decanter. An explosion of scent fills the room as the wine is poured. Tons of violets, rose petals, black tea, tobacco, ground coffee and marzipan. The palate is completely heavenly. Enourmous amounts of power and concentration. An elegant and lovely taste showing lovely primary pinot fruit mixed with violets, roses, seamless tannins and eucalyptus. A cold and gentle fruitiness. Fantastic!

  • It showed some liquorice, dried flowers and sandalwood on the nose. In the mouth it was sweet and creamy but had good rocky detail and the finish was somewhat akin to sucking on a cherry stone.

  • The colour is young, between red velvet and violets. Reminds me of 2005.
This wine has an intense scent of curry-powder, roses, wild strawberries, vinyl and grocer's shop. And I find a little green note that reminds me of mint ... or even eucalypthus. DRC's use of oak-barrles are impressive. They make it every time. I simply love this oak. And the use of sulphur gives the tone of burnt underbrush and curry that I adore.
Even the first sip show the energy this wine has imbodied and performs like a Harley Davidson. Starts with a bang and then you feel the power in your body when the biker give it some gas, then the acceleration. But when the cool biker is satisfied after this impressive start and scared som women and kids, he just get into cruise-mode and drive into the distance, aiming for the horizon. So I must say the length is extraorinary. One thing that surprises me in this 2009 is the acidity. The acidity is more prominent than I expected in 2009 ... but this is a good thing. On the palate the oak performs a little different compared to other DRC's, but I think this depends on the green notes caused by the use of stems in this wine. In style between 2004 and 2008. But this just gives the wine more structure and a real backbone ... almost aristocratic carriage. I just love this wine :-)

  • Brilliant red colour. Sweet wild strawberries and strawberries. A stunning structure. Sharp and extremely elegant even though there is a lot of round lovely very clean red fruit. Vosne spices and erotic. Very fine indeed.

  • DRC 2009 tasting (Operakällaren, Stockholm): Light to medium red. In the nose red and dark berries, violet and other flowery notes, spicy, some toasted oak barrel, and some animal notes that emerge after a while. Initially rather closed nose, an impression of “hidden intensity”. On the palate red berries, noticeable minerality, quite present but fine tannin, spicy, good acidity. Long aftertaste with fine tannin, spice and minerality. Definitely young! 94+

  • Tasted at the DRC tasting against the rest of the 2009 line up.
Clearly a big step up from the Echézeaux.
Here it comes, the DRC magic!
The Vosne spice box, right up towards you, with the most fantastic layers of spices and perfume, mixed with a nose of warm and ripe fruit and some souse – bois lurking underneath.
The fruit is deep, deep and ripe, with strawberries and raspberries mixed with minerals and some acid that really blends together perfectly for a wine in great harmony.
This is all that you want when you drink these wines.
This is such a great wine!
    I love it!
