  • Between collecting my thoughts on the wine and starting writing, I peeked a few reviews and it reassured me that I am not the only one thinking that the 2012 has reached its peak. After oxygenation the wine showed its character (see my previous review). If you still have it around, drink it now!

  • Not as impressive as our last bottle at first (but that was 4 years ago). Others are still positive about this wine at this age but I think it seems to have reached a plateau. A very good, deep colour with no browning. There was plenty of good black and red fruit when opened but it didn't seem to reach the earlier heights - it was less complex and there was a touch of astringency with drying (but soft) tannins persisting in the mouth. Better with food.
Next day, a quarter of the bottle was still OK but it didn't shine as I had expected even after more time to open. Later, after food and yet more time in the glass, it showed something of its former quality. Maybe it just needs more time?

  • Expressive wine with scents of chocolate, mint and black fruits. On the palate good acidity that gave freshness and a medium body. Tannins are smooth covered by acidity . Very well balanced and lots and fruit. Can age more but it is enjoyable right now.

  • After trying the first bottle of the 2012 vintage, I let the remaining ones age a few years. The bottle had built up some sediment. Of course there is chocolate in the nose and mouth but put this aside and red fruits, prune, earthy tones will come out. I believe there was also a floral note of lavender or violet. In the mouth the oaky tannins are smooths and balanced yielding to a long finish.

  • The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is light sediment in the bottle. It smells like raspberry, prune, forest floor, medium toast, violet, Herbes de Provence and meaty. It tastes like red currant, medium toast, oak, acacia, basil, Herbes de Provence and meaty. The body is medium/full. The wine has round texture. The wine finishes long. The wine has high acidity.
Don't really get the chocolate on this one but there's a hint of cocoa.

Not sure I get the drinking window suggested on here. I think its drinking superbly and has shown a number of new flavours. Needs some time to breath though.
