Thanksgiving Wines: This wine was very good. It wasn't at all what I expected to taste. Still very tannic, structured, and dry. Restrained red and black fruit and nice leather and earth components. It had freshness and poise and a nice finish. Should hold for years in the cellar.

Tim and Nancy in town (Ann's Avondale PA): Nice complex nose that was similar to the Valdicava BdM that we had tonight. Dark fruits, nicely balanced with the tannins well resolved. Smooth and easy drinking. This was a favorite of everyone.

Ruby red. Pretty nose of graphite pencil. Smooth and supple. Classic Stags Leap fruit with soft tannins. Perfectly ripe and not over the top. Classic Napa wine with just enough structure to balance the ripe fruit. Drinking beautifully at the moment. Not a serious or meditative wine but an excellent weekend drink.

1997 Stag's Leap Retrospective (Northbrook, IL): Strangely candied profile. Red fruit. Lacking structure. Overt. My 10, group 6.
