Well, an interesting Southern Rhone. On nose: coffee, faint grenadine ( Pomegranate)and a ghost of cardamom... On palate: all above flavour notes, plus, puree of plum and tart raspberry, faint baking spices , soft acidity and light oak, after a 3 hour decant( a must). Strong presence of Grenache( 55%) ...not my favourite grape , but well blended here, with 15% Syrah, 15% Cinsault and other regional grapes for the final 15%. In a good place at 7 years of age , can age, a bit further.

The 2014 Lirac Baron Louis opens with a delineated nose of red cherry, strawberry, rosemary, lavender and baking spice. I love the rich fruit in this showing because it shows tremendous purity and concentration. There's an impeccable sense of balance and a finish that lingers. At this price-point - a steal!

At this price point, this is a perfect wine for every day drinking. It has a nice balance of fruit, structure and acidity.

Bland, disappointing, may need additional time to open up, good fruit forward nose but too tight so doesn’t add to overall flavor.

Clean with some freshness, has a touch of minerality and a little bit of a longer finish.
