  • This showed a style leaning toward elegant as opposed to power, with a lot of gas left in the tank.

Opened and had a small taste (a bit tight) and then decanted and consumed over 4 hours, saving one glass in the decanter which I tried 24 hours later. Light garnet in color. Nose has a deep core of red cherry, lovely floral aromatics, along with fresh dark wet soil. Showing quite a bit of structure on PnP, but not overpowering. Palate more or less mirrors the nose in terms of notes. Post decant, getting a very floral mid-palate with a spice I can't quite place. Bit of dark cocoa on the finish.

This wine was a bit overpowered by the pasta I made which was orrechiette with wild boar. But this wine on its own, away from the food, is certainly showing better at hour 4 than PnP. The glass left in the decanter overnight is still drinking fine, even with some fruit still showing, not oxidized at all, just a little softer around the edges, but still with some grip. Drink now or anytime over the next 10-15 years.

  • Medium bright red; lightly spiced, some licorice; light elegant attack, followed by a medium refined body, aftertaste is long and spiced, quite some acidity throughout which however is not disturbing rather pleasant, being held up with nice fruit; quite some tannins; really nice, like it

  • A: med garnet
N: menthol/mint, black tea, sweet cherry (just ripe), rhubarb, earth, dust, clove, nutmeg
P: dry, high acidity, high long-grain ripe tannins, full body, 14% ABV
C: very good = balanced fruit and tannins, med (+) intensity, med (+) concentration, med (+) complexity, long finish on black tea and lovely cherry. Drink now (with air) or hold for next 10 years. Lovely wine, not outstanding but lovely.

  • It needs at least 2 hours of aeration. Muscular tanins, crisp acidity, really fresh with at least 10 years of life ahead. Menthol is obvious but unfortunately this is not the case for the fruits also. A slight touch of plum and red berries, not enough to be satisfied. Medium to long finish. All in all, good enough for an entry level barolo. Second day was better.

  • Pas de note précise, mais acidité très élevée, tanins assez présents et le vin reste plutôt fermé sur 3 h en carafe.
Encore très jeune, 3-5 ans avant la prochaine.
