Incredible Charity Dinner with 1945 Mouton and Others (RN 74, San Francisco): Medium ruby without any signs of age. Some caramel (not meaning to imply any oxidation) and red fruit. Mellow, resolved but still very much alive. Like the Mouton, some mint or eucalyptus on the palate too. Completely mature, faded tannins, soft lingering finish. No slouch next to its legendary Bordeaux cousin, and that speaks volumes about the quality and staying power of this wine. Let's see-how many California Cabernets of this age have I had? One!
