For a wine from the 2003 vintage, this is a tour de force in balance and retention of clean fruit. Most producers had a tough time with heat, but here it is tamed and the wine is balanced. The attack is reminiscent of classic Henri Jayer in the purity and completeness of the fruit. Delicious.

(Comte Liger-Belair La Romanée) Blood red fruit. Luxurious mouthfeel with many layers to the fruit - superbly balanced - so much so, that it was hard to pick out specific attributes but the finish lingers with a style that leaves you remembering the wine for some time after.

A rustic wine that's not really worthy of the La Romanee name. Feels very Bouchard and detached from the wines of today.

Freshness with no excessive heat detected, which turned into eventual sweetness. Elegant expression of the vintage.

CC. Drank next to 2003 Bouchard La Romanee. Looks very young. Aromatic reduction still present. Sweet, beautiful fruit with hint of stink. (1140/1881)

Heritage 2016 Blind Wine Tasting Challenge - Grand Finale (Jean Georges Steakhouse - ARIA - Las Vegas NV): Tasted double blind. Easily my favorite wine of the tasting. Also easily identifiable as from Burgundy from a ripe vintage. Black and red berries throughout. Intensely floral with great spice and concentration. So elegant and texturally charming that I was shocked when this was unveiled as from 2003.
