Flash double decant. Lovely core of cherry and red fruit. Tannins have mellowed, already in its drinking window. While perhaps not at the level of some of the Salvioni from greater vintages, this is still a wonderful wine.

Zurich, Switzerland. Intense cherry pit dominating the nose. Cornucopia of red fruits. Wild herbs. There is all the acidity you need. Piques my curiosity about the Sangiovese grape. Apparently it finds a unique expression in Brunello in the same way Merlot reaches its apex on Pomerol soils. Very long. Resonance , vibrancy. There is a vein of freshness and 'matte' colour to the wine that speaks of a limestone soil which a quick check of public info confirms (though there are also clay parcels). This carries very well the 14% ABV and does not feel hot. This straddles well northernmost and Mediterranean profiles. Freshness, lift and acidity of the former and oomph, ripe fruit of the latter. Great drink full of personality.

This is my first Salvioni and I find it to be excellent but more earthy and perhaps slightly less fine than say Poggio di Sotto or Stella di Compalto. It’s young but integrated enough for current drinking with perfectly ripe dark cherry fruit and notes of forest floor, smoky oak and a hint of ether. The wine is light on its feet with crisp acidity and good intensity on the finish which shows crunchy minerals and emerging warm spices. Lovely stuff. 92+

Pretty good. Love the slightly dry intensity. At a perfect moment of evolution. Fruit not dominant and giving way to secondary aromas.

Drinking beautifully. Floral and red fruit notes. Notable orange peel. Great weight on the mid palate and long finish.
