  • Lovely, rich Margaux that needs time. 91+

  • Slightly overrated Bordeaux here. It was sold to me as a Cab-based blend, but tasted more Merlot-based. Obviously, it could benefit from more aging. Not as structured as I'd hoped, but still with the richness and silky palate you expect.

  • PnP on this one. Dark ruby-violet color. Very earthy on the nose. Lots of tobacco, gamey meat, herbs, crushed gravel, peppercorn, some black fruit. Some coaxing from the glass shows more floral red and black fruit characteristics. Even without a lot of air time there's very little brett/barnyard funk. On the palate, it is rich and juicy with chewy tannins and vibrant acidity. Cassis, black cherry, and plum with leather, pencil lead, and cacao powder on the mid palate. Long finish with a touch of vanilla and cacao. Great balance and structure, still has a lot more to show later on. Great QPR Margaux. Decant for an hour and a half or more.

  • This is a very delicious Bordeaux that made Valentine's Day quite special. I found it to be very lush and velvety; overall a great value!

Appearance: Deep ruby with a tinge of purple.
Aroma: Only medium+ intensity out of the glass. It seemed a little restrained, and this is a key reason I've only scored this 93. Notes of red cherry, bramble, forest floor, ripe fruits, cherry candy, and flowers.
Taste: Medium body, medium+ tannins, medium+ acidity, pronounced alcohol, and bone dry. I tasted intense and ripe cherry, raspberry, spices, smoke, and wet earth. The tannins are present, very fine, and well-balanced by the acidity.

I found this wine to have some minor rough edges to it that I hope will resolve with some more time in the bottle. I decanted this bottle for 2.5 hours. I'll be looking to restock and exercise some more patience.

  • With my limited knowledge of BDX I found this to be very ripe, while still maintaining balance.
